he did train, obviously not as CR7 but it was the fouling that had destroyed his knees. Cr7 never got injured this bad, because he wasn't playing this good in the middle of the park. Watch wc 98 and observe the kind of tackles that he had endured in match against Netherlands. Fouling this guy at his prime, was the only way you could stop him.
That was really the only way to stop him. There are interviews of R9 talking about training, it’s very interesting how things were back then. Hems definitely the best number 9 I’ve seen.
R9 did train . But his injuries has nothing to do with not training or diets . R9 said he train wrong back than a lot that’s one the reason he had injuries . He said today the training is created specific for each player because every player is diferente !
My sincerest apologies for my previous comment which I have deleted. I did not mean to be disrespectful. You maybe indeed correct about an athlete's professionalism assisting their longevity. Maybe you could do 2 videos on R9 - One in which you focus on his sample career (however cut short by injury) and another that deals with his injuries and elaborate further on the professionalism of footballers.
The biggest mistake his coach at PSV made, all three, was to treat R9 like an average player. I know Ronaldo since he came to Eindhoven, the rest knows him from his first UEFA cup match..
In test taken while at inter, it was shown he could do 10.2 over 100 m and he is universally regarded by experts as the fastest and the most powerful on the ball For context … Mpabbe was clocked at 10.9 over 100 m
Not only that my friend SerieA in the 90s the tackles was very hard! An some teams try to hurt him to stop him! If you like me an you watch football you will know the fouls an the rules was different, some games he would been kick some much an alot of the very dirty tackles add up too
That’s a good point, you’re right! I forgot how bad and dirty football and that league specifically were back then. That was the only way to stop him! Haha 💪
No one suffered the kind of injuries O Fenomeno did …he had 8 operations on his body and was just cursed with the worst knee injuries in the history of football … the one he got while at Inter seriously should have ended his career tbh and he got it at the tender age of 22 and that killed his peak and robbed him of at least 6 -7 seasons at the very top … In other interviews he mentioned (post knee injuries) how he could not train properly and felt pain whenever he kicked the football….
I understand that, however most non contact injuries have a reason in which they occur. There are so many variables that if he focused on when it comes to proper nutrition, proper and sufficient rest, etc. these horrible injuries might have never happened to him (hard to know) even though the training load at the time was not appropriate for the type of player he was. Let me be clear… R9 is and was the best number 9 I have seen in football and I don’t think we’ll ever see a player like him. I respect him so much and enjoyed him while he lasted. Thanks for the comment! 🤙
@@fcgamechanger that’s hard to say .. you are using a flawed sense of equivalence by comparing him to cr7 (who clearly has longevity) but still wasn’t a similar type of player .. the truth is .. a lot of the reasons why R9 did not attain longevity has less to do with the lack of training but had a lot to do with stuff that are mostly out of his control (tough luck if you will) … the part where he did bear some responsibility is in his career choices …i believe his troubles started as a 17 yr old while at PSV (wrong guidance in training methodology.. put on weight and muscle training to bulk up way too early especially in light of the type of player that he was and the power he had) and I also personally believed that he joined the wrong club who were ill equipped to guide him in his venture into Europe let alone appreciate a rising all time great talent (and all this especially when other top clubs came a calling like United, Barca and so on who would have guided him better .. United with Sir Alex in particular would hv been rather useful (cr7 development at United comes into mind) That being said …in hindsight if he was afforded the kind of luxury that modern day elite players can leverage (rule changes that better protects offensive players.. for example back tackles was only outlawed as a red card offense after 1998) … advanced in modern science/medicine/technology/ amenities and others such as being in a super team (which also means he won’t be the primary target to opposing defenders) … it is quite easy to then propose that R9 would have dominated football for many a years to come and reached even higher heights (as great that he already is in spite of injuries which is a scary thought)
Go so much further? The life of a professional footballer is demanding. I am not sure that after being at the top for a 5/6 years isn't good enough. Messi and CR7 has chosen to live that life for 15+ years. Good for them, but its not a requirement for everyone. R9 was a genius and we have not seen a player like him since. And, by the way, most of the world know him post-injury, after his game was dailed back because of two game-changing injuries. Many players never recover from these kinds of injuries. Could he have done more? Yeah Sure. But does he have to? For me: NO! Whenever, I have to choose the best XI, he is first on my team sheet. Before his injury, he didn't need teammates to distract defenders, he didn't need a boss midfielder (no Xavi/Iniest/Zidane/Deco/DE Bryune/Scholes...) just give him the ball at midfield and defend. Plus he would even dribble the keeper for good measure. Everyone got the same treatment! A master! And he trained as infrequently as he could get away with. I have never seen a player like this guy!
I love the passion and your input and I do not disagree with you at all! We’ll never see a player like him, so much power, speed, and skills. I’m one of his biggest fans and the world also knows that he’ll be forever one of the greatest ever. ❤️⚽️
R10 and R9 won everything for sure. CR7 has also won everything but a world cup. These are all legends from different times, imagine if R10 and R9 were as much of an athlete as CR7 is? That’d be history that no other player could ever achieve. I respect them all. ⚽️❤️

That’s very true!
he is THE BEST N. 9 EVER, not just one of them.
I agree with you!
Yes, the beast R9
