It really is. Maria Ford would have been excellent in Mortal Kombat (1995) I like Brigette Wilson but she didn't know how to fight and was brought in at the last minute to replace Cameron Diaz.
When I saw that thumbnail, for a second I thought… “When did Supergirl (1984) use a hand gun”, that’s one way to prove your faster than a speeding bullet lol
Most of this list could've been on HBO's 90s World Premiere section on Friday night at 10pm. High Voltage was a movie that premiered on HBO back then. There are so many titles I remember being on there, from Dolph Lundgren in The Punisher and The Immortals starring everyone from Eric Roberts and Tony Curtis to Chris Rock and Tia Carerra and many more. I love these lists. I have an idea for another action inspired list. I call it Big Names Small Budget. Movies starring actors who did much higher profile projects either before or after the movie on your list. For example, it could easily be said that Chris Rock was a pretty big star in 95, when HBO World Premiere-d it. Btw, Andrew Dice Clay had a great, fun little movie from the early 90s that's a mix of action, quirk and humor called Brainsmasher: A Love Story.
This is the high quality content I watch this channel for. interesting shows and movies that I missed, but now have to look out for afterwards. A Jack Scalia action flick is always a win!
I’m excited to check these out! I’d also like to suggest a personal favorite, “Throttle.” It’s a super cheap, straight-to-DVD, one-location actioner. I really love this little movie though, it really wrings a bunch of great stuff out of its parking garage setting. It’s not a great movie and if you’ve seen P2, you’ve seen the big budget version of this, but it is still a lot of fun in its own right
Thanks for putting this video together, Cecil. Nothing like some good old fashion B-movie action and you gave me a few new titles to check out. I can't believe there was a "Maria Ford Collection" on DVD at one time. I guess she was even more popular than I realized.
If you ever do another one of these, please include 1994’s “Felony”. It’s a David A Prior production with a ton of quality character actors (David Warner, Lance Henriksen, Joe Don Baker, Leo Rossi, Charles Napier, Ashley Lawrence) and Jeffrey Combs as the hero…!
Was I the only one who noticed in Angel of Destruction the huge gap between their waistlines and the waist of the pants? I realize thumbs tucked into the belt area was a cool thing people in movies did back then, but you could fit a freaking laptop in that gap. And I ain't talking a modern slim one, I mean a 1990's laptop! Serious though, I love these kind of movies. They weren't high art and didn't try to be. They just took as much money as they could scrape together, made a movie with lots of fights and explosions, and threw it on the video store shelves for us to love. Just the kind of thing that got rented when you and your friends just wanted an excuse to hang out and have a few beers. I remember plenty of times hanging out in a dorm room with a half dozen guys and watching something like these flicks.
Oh man, Angel of Destruction and High Voltage are right up my alley. And Terror Squad got a recent review by Jason Brant; that lengthy opening chase and especially when the smoke tower collapses are impressive (although after the chase the film turns into a hostage version of The Breakfast Club).
High Voltage has the perfect Heist-Gone-Wrong set-up for a major production. I can just see it turning into a Dog Day Afternoon / Reservoir Dogs type of film with blood, guts, shoot-ups, and relationships being tested at their extremes. Someone should definitely option the script for a remake!
4:46 Awesome I remember not minding Maria Ford in the first 2 ''Ring of Fire'' films and in the sequel''The Unnamable 2'' I never knew she actually got to star in action film like this before I'll will look this film up for sure thanks for the heads up Cecil😁😁 5:08 Agreed my favorites from them are ''Rage'',''Last Man Standing,''''Riot''&''Land of the Free'' along with ''Zero Tolerance'' also. 7:59 Yep A personal favorite of mine maybe because at the time when I first saw this film back in 1998 on HBO I had the biggest crush on Shannon Lee nowadays not so much since she got all ''WOKE'' Another fantastic job Cecil 👍👍
Wow! Thanks to this video I now know that “The Double O Kid” is that movie I saw once when I was a teen with that hilarious CGI chess board opening credits scene
I'd absolutely show parts of High Voltage to a stunt class or team, or even to a wannabe action Cinematographer. That rooftop fall onto the box was legit. (Any fan of RLM should absolutely know the stunt I'm talking about.)
Love your content. Although there is so much I might have missed that you covered another great unseen actioner. Have you seen or already done a video on "Action USA". It's really fun and action packed.
i feel like i have watched "high voltage" already, but i think i just watched the episode by RLM too many times. i do have to say that the sound design for the guns is pretty awesome (i am a sound and music person). very well designed gun shots.
Great list!! Angel of Destruction really needs a Blu-ray release. Vinegar Syndrome should release it instead of Shout Factory since their site exclusives are only available in the US.
Legit watched High Voltage a week ago and enjoyed it so much. Isaac Florentine seems to be best friends with Scott Adkins. They have done so man films together
High Voltage has been on my radar for a while just because I'm a fan of Florentine (mainly for his Scott Adkins collabs). The fact that he isn't directing big budget, mainstream stuff is a miscarriage of justice. The rest of the list sounds like a damn good time, too.
And bookmark all 6 of them. Yes, 6 because I'm counting Demolition University as one of them too. 😉 Sounds interesting, specially the "Unofficial Sonya Blade movie". The GamerGirl in me is going oooooh. 😂🤣 But thank you, enjoyed your video.
Demolition High reminds me a bit of Toy Soldiers only without the "prep school" aesthetic. It's sad about Double O Kid, but it's one of my favorite Haim films. I need to check out High Voltage for sure!
Omg I actually watched Angel of Destruction on cable in the mid-90s. I’d previously seen the male-hero version and was quite confused to realize it was the same movie but with a hot chick in the lead role 🤣
Maria Ford could be an awesome choice to voice Sonya Blade on another Mortal Kombat videogame. Also "The Silencers" plot is very simlar to the Timesplitters games. I wonder if the developers from Free Radical were inspired by the plot of that film.
Maria Ford could have been among Cynthia Rothrock's peers during her prime if she was given a chance to be in any Golden Harvest movies than with Roger Corman
I haven't seen any of these, so that's pretty cool. I could swear I've seen Angel of Destruction on Amazon, but if I did it was ages ago, at least a year or two, and it would've been the Canadian array of "Prime" movies, anyways. I'll have to check it out somehow, as I do really like action moves with attractive women in the lead and kicking lots of ass, just so long as it's not ruined for "modern audiences" nonsense. I'll probably be checking out most, if not everything, from this video, though. They all looked fun!
You should do a video on Becky (2020). It's like Death Wish if Bronson was a teen girl. It's actually really brutal and really satisfying Plus, very under seen and deserves more attention. There is a really good sequel called Wrath of Becky
You had me at "Unofficial Sonya Blade Movie."
It really is. Maria Ford would have been excellent in Mortal Kombat (1995) I like Brigette Wilson but she didn't know how to fight and was brought in at the last minute to replace Cameron Diaz.
@@GoodBadFlicks Cynthia Rothrock would've been great too, but she was probably a little too old for the part at the time.
@@GoodBadFlicks My sentiments exactly.
he had me at " maria ford" hehe
@@RetroRuss Rothrock would have been incredible, great pick.
Bud, you are like an encyclopedia of movies I've never heard of or completely forgotten. Thanks so much for this series!
I’ve never seen demolition high but from the clips and description, it sounds suspiciously a lot like the Sean Astin movie Toy Soldiers
Yea, that's essentially the same plot
Came here to say the same thing.
That was my first thought as well. I really want to watch that again but it's not streaming anywhere.
I was thinking the same thing!
It’s amazing how much better a cheap movie from the 80’s/90’s looks so much better than a cheap movie made today.
Back when the dollar stretched significantly farther than it does now
Film looks better than video hi def for cheap film
And no crappy CGI. It really needs to be used sparingly instead of completely certain films get the picture but the majority totally rely on it
Absolutely, you watch all these modern, low budget Direct to Streaming Action or Western movies and they look like somebody shot them on a smartphone.
PM Entertainment's overall body of work deserves its own retrospective IMHO
I always look forward to these videos since most of the movies are ones I've never heard of before. Thanks Cecil!
Demolition High must've been where Stallone graduated
[in Stallone voice] "I used to be a Demolition Boy, but you made me into a Demolition Man."
John spartan
Demolition Man would be the third movie in the trilogy.
When I saw that thumbnail, for a second I thought… “When did Supergirl (1984) use a hand gun”, that’s one way to prove your faster than a speeding bullet lol
She shoots the gun then flies forward and punches you in the nose before the bullet gets there?
Most of this list could've been on HBO's 90s World Premiere section on Friday night at 10pm. High Voltage was a movie that premiered on HBO back then. Came for the High Voltage
Stayed for the HAI-KEE-BAH!!!
If Frank Conniff isn’t a subscriber to this channel, he should be.
This is the high quality content I watch this channel for.
interesting shows and movies that I missed, but now have to look out for afterwards.
A Jack Scalia action flick is always a win!
I aim to please :)
I remember him from a babe-of-the-week TV series called The Pointman in the mid-90s.
Prehaps Hollywood should consider making small/mid budget action films in the future.
They should.
OR...small budget action films could be made and then use holleewould as a distributor
They literally do every year. You just have to be proactive in looking.
If you like Demolition High, watch Toy Soldiers (1991)
Toy soldiers is an excellent movie
Charlie Spadling. Definitely one of top 5 hotties of the 90s.
I’m excited to check these out! I’d also like to suggest a personal favorite, “Throttle.” It’s a super cheap, straight-to-DVD, one-location actioner. I saw the title of the video and immediately thought of high voltage. That movie has one of the best gun sounds in all of movies.
Director Isaac Florentine has directed some great B-Movies starring Scott Adkins.
Ninja 1-2 are fantastic
Oh and here I thought Toy Soldiers was the only "school is invaded by evil mercenaries" action movie
I second this!!
Rented High Voltage on VHS. Was not disappointed.
Yeah, you could tell Corey Haim was starting to look bad when he did Demolition High. Damn shame 😔
I saw Dead Heat not too long ago. Pretty entertaining movie, but very bizarre 😆
You did a review 10 years ago, I just realized.
Ah that old video. I wouldn't mind doing an update at some point. Learned a lot in 10 years.
@@GoodBadFlicks i can imagine. 😊
Love your video mate. Keep it up 😉
8:57 amy smart was also in another high voltage movie, crank 2 high voltage.
Another excellent video!!!
Angel of Destruction is an undeniable masterpiece
Was I the only one who noticed in Angel of Destruction the huge gap between their waistlines and the waist of the pants? Bare Knuckles is fantastic. I updated all the filming location some time back. Geat coverage of 70s Los Angeles.
Wow, I never expected to get kicked in the face by Cecil just before the end credits, but then again, I guess that was the plan.
5 kickass action films for bloody good time.
So bad it's good, I could totally see Jason Brandt watching these movies 😂
I've lost count of how many movies I've watched because of your channel.
Awesome as always, thanks Cecil!!!
I remembered Demolition High as soon as you started talking about it. Thanks
Thanks! Love the series. Here a cup of coffee
Thanks for the support! Glad you are enjoying the videos :)
Love em'! Keep it up, man!!
Will do :)
Excellent new video, Cecil. I will definitely be adding both Angel of Destruction & High Voltage to my watchlists. :)
Angel of Destruction was fun, it has some fun moments. Glad I saw it last night!
Oh man, Angel of Destruction and High Voltage are right up my alley. And Terror Squad got a recent review by Jason Brant; that lengthy opening chase and especially when the smoke tower collapses are impressive (although after the chase the film turns into a hostage version of The Breakfast Club).
Bro this needs to be a reguler series because i love thisssss
Lots more to come
Loving these lists, thanks!
You are welcome!

Escapism baby!
Check out that hair on Johnny Lawrence :-). Another great video Cecil!
Fuck yeah, Demolition High is quite fun. Demolition University, not so much.
Awesome! Thanks

Thanks for watching!
Love your content. Although there is so much I might have missed that you covered another great unseen actioner. Have you seen or already done a video on "Action USA". It's really fun and action packed.
Bare Knuckles is an old favorite, the VHS release i had used the alternative title Zacks Law
Great flicks. I love all of them. Bare Knuckles really needs a blu.
Thanks for throwing my man Haimster some Love!!! Recently released media book via Brother Belial.
i feel like i have watched "high voltage" already, but i think i just watched the episode by RLM too many times. i do have to say that the sound design for the guns is pretty awesome (i am a sound and music person). very well designed gun shots.

I fell in love with Charlie Spradling from Ski School.
You know what would be a great episode would be a good bad flicks of hard boiled.
Legit watched High Voltage a week ago and enjoyed it so much. Isaac Florentine seems to be best friends with Scott Adkins. They have done so man films together
They've made some great action movies together.

The rest of the list sounds like a damn good time, too.
High Voltage is a fun action film that does a lot with very little. The story is basic but it doesn't matter because the action is really good.
'Demolition High' also sounds like that movie 'Masterminds,' which was also basically Die Hard at a college. That one's probably got a higher budget.
This was one of my favorite lists.
Albert Pyun needs more recognition. "Down Twisted" is one of the best "Romancing the Stone" rip-offs of the 80s and it's only available on VHS.
I'll never forget Redlettermedia crew calling the front operation in High Voltage a 'Fank' (fake bank)
Brilliant cheesiness!
Great video, as usual. Just one small correction: In 'High Voltage', it's a Vietnamese gang they steal money from, not a Korean one.
d'oh!
Sweet! Move high-action goodness! 🥋💥
The first movie reminds me of Masterminds from 1997. But with Patrick Steward as the lead bad guy it probably wasn't that low budget.
I bought a cheap used copy of Demolition University. It was an ok film but I had no idea it was a sequel. Now I gotta check out Demolition University.
Demolition High reminds me a bit of Toy Soldiers only without the "prep school" aesthetic. It's sad about Double O Kid, but it's one of my favorite Haim films. I need to check out High Voltage for sure!
Demolition High and Toy Soldiers have the "terrorists take over school" but really are quite different in how its done.
I got something for you. Suspect Device 1995 with C. Thomas Howell. Low budget scifi action. Great stuff.
Omg I actually watched Angel of Destruction on cable in the mid-90s. I’d previously seen the male-hero version and was quite confused to realize it was the same movie but with a hot chick in the lead role 🤣

0:28 I'm pretty sure the footage of the school blowing up was from Rock 'n' Roll High School
I can’t believe you didn’t mention the best character in Angel Of Destruction, Hairy Feldman
Great list!🔥🔥🔥
Maria Ford could have been among Cynthia Rothrock's peers during her prime if she was given a chance to be in any Golden Harvest movies than with Roger Corman
Just naming one of my action favorites from 90s - Short Time (1990) starring Dabney Coleman
Overhated (my buddy Scott) covered this in his podcast a few months back!
15 episodes an finally one where I never even heard of any of them.
I've seen a few of these, and will check out the ones that I missed...
Angel of Destruction is one of my favorite B movies.
My main man Cecil does it again. 🤘😎🤘
Okay, now I need to find The Candy Tangerine Man.
"Demolition High" sounds more like "Toy Soldiers".
Filmed at the Miller School central VA.....
It'd be hilarious if Luther was played by Corey Feldman in demolition high😂
High Voltage is the type of movie that i love: dumb, full of action and passion
I would say that "Demolition High" was more on "Toy Soldiers" (yes now I'll have to figure out the proper dates.
Bare Knuckles is incredible.
Ami Dolenz is very underrated. Her father was one of The Monkees.
Amy Smart, star of films "High Voltage" and "Crank 2: High Voltage"...
0:40 Naha man, it's a rippoff of Toy Soldiers!
Cecil when you can, schedule permitting please review more Blaxploitation...can you dig it! ✊👊🤛
PM Entertainment should get their own EXPLORING 😀
I haven't seen any of these, so that's pretty cool. 🤔 just saw one the goofiest movies - Chris Elliot Cabin Boy - what u think about it or have u done anything on it ???
Shannon Lee is such a dreamboat in her day.
You should do a video on Becky (2020). It's like Death Wish if Bronson was a teen girl. It's actually really brutal and really satisfying
Plus, very under seen and deserves more attention. There is a really good sequel called Wrath of Becky
My GODS, Maria Ford was hot. Probably still is, to be honest, but I haven't looked her up in years.
She is indeed an insanely attractive lady.
@@GoodBadFlicks But what's even _cooler_ is that she got mad skillz! Anyone can be pretty, but NOT everyone can kick a dude through another dude.
High Action, Low Budget describes 95% of movies I watch nowadays. Specifically 90s American martial arts movies.
They are so pure. No nonsense, just butt kicking.
