Vingegaard was pretty amazing... Rode very clever. At times against 2 Bahrain riders and 3 Ineos riders attacking. Was calm the last K and made Onley go deep to catch Rolland. Counterattacking and held the speed the last 10-15 meters... perfect executed
As a french speaker, I bursed into laugh when you said « Attaque de Pierre Rolland » [fair return]. I didn’t know this mythical phrase was known outside France. 😂
Yeah I make a similar face when I'm at the end of a hill climb and I've successfully liquefied every last muscle fiber in my legs. When your kidneys get gummed up with wasted muscle cells and experience spontaneous necrosis, it triggers an involuntary response in the brainstem that leads to the simultaneously curling of the lips into a smile, and also a voiding of the bowels. I can only imagine that is the true cause of Onley's "smile" at the finish line. just kidding, he's probably gee'd up from going toe-to-toe with Jonas in multiple hilltop finishes, that's one hell of a flex for a teenager.
@@niibor1 Croatia is a country of tourism and some abandoned beautiful regions (young people have gone to the West - sad story...) that have excellent road infrastructure for cycling. I recommend the sea coast (Dalmatia, Istria, the islands (paradise for cycling - Korcula, Vis, Mljet, Mali Losinj...) along with the unexplored interior of, for example, Plitvice (there is no such place in Europe...) and Slavonia, which is far from tourist destinations (abandoned small villages on the hills of Papuk, Psunj, Krndija ideal for cycling!) Apart from sports, Croatia is extremely famous for its food and drink. Who likes, lets go ;) , that's what we say...
It's crazy to think I was photographing Oscar at a local TT in the North East of England only 2 years ago when covid rules were relaxing to now giving Jonas a run for his money, great progress 👌
The number of talented youngsters coming to the fore is really amazing and quite a change from the days of Froome, Cadell Evans and G. We were marvelling at Bernal as one of the youngest to win the TdF in 2019, but he was upended in the age race the very next year by Pogacar. We have Remco Evenepoel showing his class in recent races such as La Vuelta and the WC as well as the likes of Ayuso, Pidcock and, now, Oscar Onley appearing as if they will be competing with the big boys in a year or two. Vingegaard seems positively old by comparison at 26, while Roglic is a fossil! The question remains: for how long they can remain at this high level or will they suffer burnout?
Perhaps we have seen that trend start with Sagan. A phenom at 21ish who now would be classically considered in his Classics prime but has slipped down quite a bit
@@telmolicious agreed. My point was not about " rider type " it was about the age at which a rider matures. Perhaps we will see a rider similar to Sagan say like Wout decline in stature at 31 instead of say 34
When Leemreize showed his descending in Bilbao, I came up with 'De Rog van Ruurlo'. A 'rog' (ask Benji for the pronunciation) is a ray/stingray. That way he can be in the same hall of fame of slippery ocean animals as Nibali!
@@darioplattner1619 I am stupid, don't know why I said Bilbao. I meant the Giro, a breakaway in week 3 I remember, where he gapped MVDP in the descent.
It seems to be the new LR strategy to not do summaries of final stages. Vuelta also didn't have a video for the last stage. I guess they don't generate enough views for LR to be worth the time invest and he decides to spend it otherwise. I find it sad, but what can you do. Its a buisness in the end.
Highly recommend riding your bike around Istria. Thats where some pro's train like israel start up. The islands like Hvar are also awesome. Doing a Slovenia to Croatia week or two finishing in an Island would be sweet. Highly recommend that as a vacation.
Torstein Træen is known for participating in a science project for how training in hot temperatures can give the same gain as training in altitude. The training is actually quite accesable for most riders where you just put on a lot of clothes, and ride on the trainer with low intensity (typically 50-60% of FTP for an hour or so).
Why is there no summary of the last stage? I get it for the TdF where the last stage essentially only is a few km before the sprint, but in the CRO race the last stage decided everything by a single second.
Just before the final sprint there was around 5-10secs with Jonas out of his saddle not being able to pass a very much STILL SEATED Oscar Onley. For too early hot take... #BritishRemco
Because there are no older successful GC riders. There was a gap after the last group of dominant GC talents that is only being filled now. Though, if you actually meant something else with your question…you have to ask it.
G´day mate.....Over several stages you have claimed that Torsten Træn is danish. I know the flags are similar (due to the fact that NORWAY was once under DANISH rule. But when you see the flags and one has blue lines in the cross that should tell you that you are looking at a Norwegian flag. However; thank you for nice analytics and recaps. Practice you flagrecognition and otherwise keep up the good work!!😄
All the praises for Milan felt down ...sorry guys, he's explosive for one day race only. Now let the real GC race begin! Onley is a real deal. Jonas still be the main rival for Poga at the Tour! While Poga was dropped hard by Mas at Giro de Emila.
Dude what’s up with the long shout of Vingegaard’s name in the beginning? Am I missing some kind of meme? Anyway, unless it’s intentional you should work a bit on the pronounciation.
@@XxxxTxTxxxX It's pretty easy, actually. When in good form, I got about the same BMI (a little below 20) as Jonas, if his stats on PCM are correct. Nothing out of the ordinary if you ask me. His power output is a different story, no idea how he does it ;)
Vingegaard was pretty amazing...

Its a meme on r/peloton and other cycling media online
The pronunciation of Milan is pretty laughable, as well, im pretty sure there isnt an R in it. Milarn?
I am from the Netherlands and I can confirm it is a famous phrase in the Netherlands as well
It's a giant meme, everyone knows it lol
inrng and the ubiquity of VPNs have helped to make this one widely known...
Impressed with JV. That was hard racing. Well played.

The "blessing" observation was top drawer. Only looks good, need to see him on the bigger alpine and Spanish climbs in the early season races.
LR, do it, go to Croatia! It's absolutely fantastic there!
Thanks, be interested to see how Onley does on big mountains. He has proved he has teh skills of a puncheur but is he a climber?
Looking forward to the recap of stage 6!
