    Realy great job guys in tutoring! But in this video it doesnt look like the hanging leg is hanging. Looks like he is just pressing it in the bench :)

    Which leg is being tested in this scenario?? Is it both sides being tested at the same time? I learned this ortho with the client in sidelying, with the test leg SUP, then add passive hyperextension to the hip while stabilizing the pelvis

    this maneuver is stressed on both sacroiliac joint. that's why it has a weak specificity

    Does carrying out the procedure on both sides mean you switch and have both legs hanging off the table, i.e. first the right then switch to the left?

    if the patient has right sided SI joint pain which leg should hang off of the table?

      Yes according to orthobullets, the extended side is being tested.

      Just checked and physiopedia also says the extended side is being tested.

    When reading about this test they mention that it stresses the L4 nerve root. Not sure if this is my teacher trying to confuse me, he says that it stresses the femoral nerve as well. I'm thinking "isn't the L4 nerve root associated with the femoral nerve"? Can't he just say it affects the femoral nerve not just L4, also, Obturator nerve originates at L2-3-4 as well.
    My question: does this test specify if the L4 nerve root is stressed by itself or is it just saying that L4 nerve root division of femoral nerve is stressed and if a greater force is applied it would stress the entire femoral nerve.
    Thank you

    May I ask when the Gaenslen's Test was removed from the SI Dysfunction Cluster?

    • @Physiotutors
      @Physiotutors  6 років тому +4

      It was removed in the original paper from Laslett when he comes up with an algorithm how in which order testing should be performed. Reason being that it did not add (much) to the diagnosis when the cluster was analyzed.

    If all these tests are not that reliable for sacroiliac join dysfunction, which test is?

      I think SIJ compression test and thigh thrust test are considered to be the most valuable test

    Isn't it better if the patient lies near the edge of the table so the patient's ipsilateral buttock is partially off the table to place the sacroiliac joint at the edge of the table?
