      Hi! The leg you want to test is the one that is positioned in FABER position. Of course you always check both sides too 😊

    The position of ankle on knee is wrong.medial meleoli must be above on knee patela.

    Hello Doctor !!
    I just did this Fabers test but I didn't feel any pain ! But while sprinting or running I feel pain in my Glute area (upper butt) !! Not sure why !
    is it something to do with Ankylosing spondylitis ?

    So if I have a positive test and my pain (in every day life) is deep glutes then what is the cause.
    I've had hip labral repair 2019 main complaint has ALWAYS been deep glute pain. I told my Orth surgeon the moment before going under that I feel you are missing something and that this is not the cause of my deep glute pain.
    Any clues????

    • @ClinicalPhysio
      @ClinicalPhysio  5 місяців тому

      There is a genuine condition called “Deep Gluteal Pain Syndrome” if you wanted to look into it!

    I can't even get my left leg to cross the over the right. I have pain in every one of the areas you have mentioned Plus my groin area down by the pelvis. It feels like something's catching or it's going to break if I go any further. I have pain in lower left back and hip Everytime I stand after sitting for a few minutes. I have to stand in one spot for a second before attempting to walk. Same thing when getting out of a vehicle. I'm only 50 and even though I do have osteoarthritis in my hands feet and ankles due to my work, this hip pain came on suddenly about a year ago and just won't go away. I can't even work anymore and it is ruining my life. I was self-employed and could not afford insurance so I cannot even afford to go to a doctor.

      Please get a contrast MRI and ask about a labral tear.

      Thanks for your response.
      I was diagnosed with having advanced degenerative disease of the lower spine and left hip. I already had ostioarthritis in my hands, feet, ankles, right shoulder and right knee with suspected sudo gout. I Just found out I have hereditary hemochromatosis so once I start my phlebotomies next week I'm hoping my joint pain will start to ease up some.

    Hi. Doing this test, my knee stays 3-4 fists up from floor. I have no pain, but both knees stop slightly pointing to ceiling. However, my left knee is higher (4 fists from floor) than my right (3 fists). Do I lack external rotation?

    • @ClinicalPhysio

      Does your hip actually cause you any problems day to day? If not, I wouldn’t worry about it as I am probably the same!

    Is this for femoral or sciatic nerve injury?

    • @ClinicalPhysio
      @ClinicalPhysio  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Maxos - rather than testing for nerve pathology, this test is more related to pathology of the hip joint itself

    • @maxos-4135

      @@ClinicalPhysio i know but im having neurology exam and i have a question regarding if its femoral or sciatic thats why im asking, if you know it for sure thank you in advance i need this for my exam...

    • @ClinicalPhysio
      @ClinicalPhysio  3 роки тому +2

      @@maxos-4135 this test does not test for either the femoral nerve or the sciatic nerve. If you want a test for femoral nerve it would be a prone knee bend. If you want a test for sciatic nerve it would be Straight Leg Raise or slump test. You can watch these on our "lower limb tension tests" video
