    I didn’t understand why Trinity would have “One” abilities at first either and kind of saw it as a plot hole. But then I remembered two things established in the original trilogy: 1. Part of the One code was imprinted on to Smith by Neo when he destroyed Smith’s shell, and 2. Neo literally reached in Trinity and restarted her heart in Reloaded. So based on what we saw with Smith, we know the Anomaly code can be copied onto others. Boom

  • @Nimbus1701

    Thought you two essentially nailed the "big" plot points, and asked all the same (and relevant) questions many of us have had since Revolutions. It is a unique perspective to tell the the story with the participants still partly aware of their past, but to pass it off as a "psychotic break." That's genius. Great reaction to a fantastic movie, regardless of what all the "critics" say about it. The only way to make this movie even remotely relatable was to make it "meta". Worked with Deadpool (1 and 2), worked with "Free Guy", worked with "Ready Player One" (to a slightly lesser degree). Perfect introduction back to this new world/Matrix iteration (imo). Now, they essentially have a tabula rasa because they chose to bring back several classics (the Merovingian, The Architect, Sa'ati, etc....) It really is a blank state, they have on which to draw and play out their story in this new iteration of whatever version of the Matrix this is. I personally loved the movie, but I am a thinker, phosopher, and hold degrees in psychology/behavioral health. And I personally thought that this movie was much better than 6 or 7 other movies I went to see in IMAX over the fkd up time of the pandemic (that also touched on similar "meta" storytelling concepts. The story-telling concepts, confused characters, the interns at a high end production company of the video/graphic arts just flowing orders to get a paycheck, and character motivations just "clicked" with me. Logically thinking, a sentient intelligence that advanced (as portrayed after Neo unplugged again) would seek and strive for peace through perceptive acquiescence (sheeple following the norm), opt for a hard strike that is minimally invasive to draw the least amount of attention as possible (the attempt at Neo's office where he works on the Matrix games)...... you'll notice that his partner/counterpart of "Smith" was always there too........ maybe just to keep tabs on him, maybe to see he is staying on schedule to deliver the game,, and maybe just for the purpose to ensure the profit margins that earn revenue to "the powers that be" isn't too disrupted or outright destroyed because of this. Hell, I don't know what the overarching goal of the machines could have been; but you can bet your soul and your last cent that those machines at the top had the motivations in place for this story to play-out like it did. Because the last resort would be a full onslaught purge type event (i.e. body/agent bombs and resources) because it still takes monumental amounts of energy, programming intellect, and likely very large sums of money to make the steeple still living in the Matrix believe they didn't really see what they thought, or be able to provide an equally expensive and elaborate way to try and explain the occurrence away. Loved this show, and loved the reaction. There are about a handful of ways they could make another great 3 or 4 movies to close out this storyline. Guess we will see if they actually have the balls to do it. This will be an instant own on my 4k player or possibly my 8k setup assuming it's tweaked and ready by the tike this comes out on home video. Happy holidays to you both. Thank you for reactions and hard work. It is very much appreciated!

    One of the main criticisms of this movie has been that it's basically a soft remake of the first Matrix movie. They spend the first hour rehashing the entire plot of the first Matrix and then put Neo through almost the same exact circumstances as what he went through originally to wake him up from the Matrix. A similar criticism was made of "Superman Returns" directed by Bryan Singer, where nearly 2/3rds of the movie was nothing more than a remake of the original 1978 Christopher Reeve version.

    I feel like this movie allowed me to better understand what I liked about the original trilogy by showing us a movie with that something missing. In the originals, there was that awe and wonder about what is possible and where the lines are drawn about what is actually real. They establish that the world we thought we knew was actually a simulation and there was another dismal world behind it all, and then Neo started warping reality in the real world too, frying sentinels and seeing through blindness. This movie doesn't have that awe and wonder. We go into it knowing all the tricks, but at least this movie is meta enough to know we know and makes light of it. I feel like this movie was destined to fail in this way and this is actually the best possible sequel we could have gotten, as unfortunate as that may be.

      From what I've gathered Lana watchowski didn't want to make that sequel. WB forced her to. She doesn't apoear in any of the post junket interviews, but just the main cast did which was odd to me. Then looking back, she knew what the reactions would be.. Lili the sister is in it for a reason she's not mentioned in the credits. You can tell at the premiere she was very embarrassed to be there.
      If both sisters were in it 100%, we would have a different result.
      To add to it, the digital age has morphed tremendously since 1999. The only portal to the internet at the time was the Desktop experience (PC). These days it's both desktop experience and mobile experience (phones and tablets). So two portals available to enter the Matrix via PCs or mobile PDAs. I'm not sure if Lana or Lili are well aware of that change. Readapting the Matrix script to this generation is key to success. The "villains" these days are not so much of virus and malware (Agent smith and the upgrades) but big tech companies harvesting our datas without us knowing. A new theme enters the storyline, privacy.

    Resurrections was far better than what i had expected from seeing the trailers. The story is actually pretty well written. It has his fair share of weak pop-culture dialogues and uninspired camera work as expected from modern movies but it balances this with really good ones in other scenes. Im really impressed with the story. They way the Analyst enslaved Neo's mind is quite ingenious and cleverly written. You have to come up with something complex to harness Neo, and he did this quite succesfully for a very long time and really did a number on him. The reasons why his Matrix is a considerable improvement over previous versions are sound and logical : the Analyst is much more like the Oracle, he understands the human mind and emotions. Something the Architect never really achieved as he was "too much machine" and thus incapable of thinking less logical and let go of his binding to perfection. I would have liked to see a little more of the Merovingian rather than this short fan service appearance that felt pretty forced. He survived into yet another version of the Matrix, as he did since the very first one, but this time he is doing not so good anymore. :-D

    I really thought this was an ingenious way of bringing them back (and the Matrix as a whole) but since I love the original trilogy and its metaphors etc etc, obviously this movie would speak to me since it really goes deep on some of this stuff. I also kinda dug the new Smith and Morpheus characters (though they should have done more with Smith) and it's sad they didn't even ask Laurence Fishburne to come back, and the scheduled conflicts Hugo Weaving had (since he was going to return to the character) was very unfortunate. I also really liked Bugs. The people saying this movie is to "woke" are idiots also (sorry) since the original movie was "woke af" as they say. Plus, this movie wasn't shoving any agenda down anyone's throat.

    What really pissed me off about this movie is the stakes, specifically the lack thereof. The most basic motivation behind an action movie: characters have to do X because if they don't then Y will happen. What are the stakes here? Why are they saving Trinity? Why did they resurrect Neo in the first place?
    Apart from that I think that nerfing Neo like they did really backfired. In theory it's a very interesting idea: crippling the all-powerful protagonist and leveling the playing field in a sense, maybe giving more agency to the other characters. It could have been great but they did not execute it well at all. I could not for the life of me understand the significance of Neo in this movie other than him being one half of a pair that when combined does... something that screws up something or other for the machines. Does their touch trigger an EMP?
    It was just all over the place. It had nothing to say, which is unacceptable for a movie in the Matrix series which is a series that is based on a deeper meaning.

    • @magus104
      @magus104 2 роки тому +1

      I mean hes always been code. But yea they could have gone into more explaining of that.... 1st he gets a bunch of old enemys to attack Neo then they become allies and he helps him later? I was like super tired when I watched this so I dunno if I missed something during the Neo and Smith fight.
      Assuming they used some of the original Matrix code to bring over old programs its possible the new Smith has a bit of Neo in him like hes hybrid character instead of just a program. But even in the 1st matrix Smith is just a program but hes self aware and is disgusted by the matrix and humans and wants to be free of it all. Se hes a mix of Neo + Smith - the Oracle bit which made him completely bonkers

    The scene with the Frenchman you need to get subtitles or something, because he's talking about how the original creators and writers of the films felt about this new generation and their demands for a new Matrix film. The sisters never wanted to create this, they talk about this when Warner Brothers is mentioned in the beginning of the film with how they are forcing him to make a new game. The new game is the new film and only one sister was willing to write for it and hopes of not making the franchise become Obsolete and forgotten. Hence you get half the good scenes and half the bad scenes is only half the writing crew was there

    The main issue with this movie is the amount of story just in one movie. We need to know more about the new world and how some machines got on our side. Smith surviving and becoming what he was. Everything is explain in 2 phrases and not fully explain. Which was sad, because the movie did had potential for a triology. Instead they just short the path. Imagine if the triology of the lord of the rings only got 1 movie.

    There seems to be a trend this year, of "nostalgia bait". People accused No Time To Die, Ghostbusters Afterlife and this of all having it. But where as I see the "member berries" HEAVILY in say the live action Spiderverse film we got last Friday or Space Jam 2, that's not how I see these 3 films. I see them as journeys into the franchise DNA that made them popular to begin with. And saying goodbye to characters while leaving the door open if the story wants to continue. And this film in particular(more than the others with the POSSIBILE exception of NTTD) , actually requires a more intimate knowledge of the lore in order to be fully immersed into the fantasy. Which helps the meta narrative. Not only with the Matrix 4 subplot, if you can even call it a subplot. But also with things like the Merovingian saying "this isn't as good as what used to be" but also the wink at the camera "because of you(fans/Warner) now we have another chance". I feel like Lana was simultaneously flipping off the Warner suits like anne sarnoff and walter hamada who are intent on making these cinematic universes (look at Space Jam). I remember reading that Warner Interactive shut down the Matrix Online for the same reason that the film division told Greg Berlanti they couldn't use certain characters in the Arrowverse because it would "be confusing to viewers". The implication being stories being told in the game were going to be similar to what they wanted to do with sequels. So spurned by her parents death Lana crafted a narrative that not only flips off the Warner suits, but also expanding on things touched upon by the Architect. When he speaks about how the 5 ones prior to Neo formed an attachment to the rest of humanity, whereas Neo had a "far more specific " experience. An experience which led to the climax of not one but 2 films in this film saga. Something the analyst recognizes and builds his Matrix on it. Which is why she has powers. The narrative is there, in the dialogue. Lana knew it's not possible to make a film as defining as The Matrix so Lana leaned into that. From riffing about endless loops(aka Hollywood remakes and reboots, to what The Matrix means. To the talk about feeling like nothing mattered. It is a layered story about aging and the relentless mediocrity of life. And that's definitely worth something
