Packing bearings was the first "wrenching" thing my dad showed me how to do when i was 8. Loved the way you filmed this...good camera work, lighting and explanation.
When replacing both calipers always remember to put the bleeder on top if the caliper' s do not have the L-R. Also a great time to grease your ball joints and other suspension points.
You did it just about the same as I would. I would check ball joints and tie rods beforehand and do it all at once. Might save a bit of time. Nice job!
We did replace the ball joints fairly recently, but I knew there was something funky in the front end. If I was smart, I would have had all new tie rods sitting here... especially since it's sitting on an alignment lift! 🤣 Thanks for watching!
I enjoyed hanging out, I haven't seen that part of the shop before. Those simple plastic cone bearing packers work good. I bought it to save on the palm for the annual boat bearing repack
It's hard to get the Ugly Trucks into the shop, so I had to sneak it in on the alignment lift. 🤣 We do need to get a bearing packer one of these days... It would have saved some time on this job for sure! Thanks for hanging out! --Emily
My next big job is the front axle seals on a k10 if you need a video topic. Nice to use Jerry as a ginipig!. Maybe the blazer, otherwise most of your trucks seem to be 2wd. I'm going to proudly wear my new utx shirt. Thanks
Nice job! You can also use the nut to pop out the rear bearing and seal…pop out the outer bearing, put the nut back on a couple turns, pull downward on the rotor slightly. You want to hook the inner bearing on the nut. At which point you pull on the rotor like you were using a slidehammer. The rotor comes off and your inner bearing and seal are hanging on the spindle…remove the nut, bearing and seal…I’ve done this thousands of times before everything became a floating rotor design…thanks! PS torque your caliper pins to 38ft/lbs…
Yes! Jerry showed me the same trick, and it works great! I would have showed it in the video, but it looks a lot cooler when he does it than when I do it. 😂 Thanks for watching! --Emily
I'm a new subscriber from Texas, and I apologize for not knowing your name, but good job! I use to restore old Ford's and my late wife use to help me and watching you took me back. Thanks! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your husband and family.
Thanks so much Ezekiel! We really appreciate you watching! I hope you can join us tonight at 7:00pm central for our Live Thanksgiving special! If we don't see you there, have a happy Thanksgiving!
I’m driving through Illinois and Missouri right now. Keep an eye out for a white and green 91 burb! I’d love to meet y’all one day. Y’all seem really humble and do awesome atuff
My dream truck I’ve been wanting a 67/72 and can’t find anything worth fixing. I don’t know how you folks are so lucky. But pm me if you get one that is good enough to just drive every day with a smile on my face. I am disabled but I can work on vehicles but I’ll get my son to help with heavy stuff but I’ve done those brakes several times. But it’s got to be a good price for me and I don’t mind extra air conditioning I can patch it. But it’s the wood bed floors that get me but hay if it’s my dream truck or car and its priced right I can figure it out. But at 53 years old it’s probably going to be a pipe dream? But it’s in God’s hands. God bless you and I love watching your channel because you are truly like me getting it running and test drive it. People would think I’m crazy because if I ever get my dream truck and car I honestly know I will have a big stupid smile while driving it around.
Good job Emily! I do hope you washed the preservatives off those rotors but I’m sure you did. Hope to see Frankenstein come back soon because we all heard that hint hint.
Thanks! I didn't show it in the video, but I did mention that I washed them. I like to get the dust caps on and the grease sealed up, and give the rotors a good clean on the truck. And yes! You'll be seeing Frankenstein very soon! One of our viewers hooked us up with some disc brake front spindles, and now we have these used rotors and hubs... So Frankie's collection of front brake parts is growing! 😁 Thanks for watching! --Emily
Ok you inspired to start working on my Combi, I think I already mentioned it on other video. I will record how is now, I think I could say it is a ugly combi.
Hi Richard! It's hard to measure with the door on, but if I hook the tape on the bottom of the lower bolt head, it's 9 1/8" to the very corner of the A pillar. If you send us a picture on our Facebook page, I'll try to get some better measurements. --Emily
At least our Chevy was like that when we found it... 🤣 It's so hard to put out content that everyone wants to see. I know we have a lot of subscribers that want to see us LS swap everything that comes in, and a lot of others who cringe at that thought. We love anything with an engine, and running a repair shop Mon-Fri, we've been really lucky with the variety of vehicles we get to work on. We just make videos that we think interesting, and try to make it entertaining and educational, but we cross our fingers every time we post a new video hoping that you guys like it as much as we do. 😂 We put a lot into these videos, and your feedback and support are much appreciated! Thanks Tim!
Thanks for watching! I used BrakeBest SC52 ceramic pads and 5006RGS rotors/hubs. It looks like the brake kit deal that I got might only be for commercial accounts, but it still just comes up to around $150. They've been great so far!
@@UglyTruckExperience Thank you so much! I just picked up a 72 short bed Cheyenne last week and need to replace all for brakes and rotors and calipers.
Hi Augie! We didn't really use a "kit" on this truck. It originally had 4 wheel drum also, and we just installed spindles from a 72 C10. These are just stock replacement rotors and pads for a 72. The tie rods and center link are also different for a 72, but we made the 1970 tie rods work on this truck for now. It's a pretty common swap for these trucks, so there should be a ton of info out there. We need to do the same to our 68 C10, Frankenstein, and will have a video about it then. Hope this helps and thanks for watching! --Emily
@@UglyTruckExperience thank you very much for taking the time to reply. This is very good information and I am very very grateful .can I find a 72 spindle at o’Reillys? And did the center link and the tie rod from the 72 bolt on straight to your 70?
Hi Edgar! This video is a couple years old, so O'Reilly may not have the same deal. Check out the Powerstop brake kits on RockAuto.com. We've used their stuff several times, and it's always good. Hope this help! Thanks for watching! --Emily
Just wanted to say this is probably the best informative video ive seen on any automotive maintenance. So glad im also dailying the same year c10!
Thanks Ike. We appreciate you watching. They are great trucks. Emily
Good job!!!! Keep up the good work.
Thanks! And thanks for watching! 👍

I kind of enjoy it! There's something relaxing about packing bearings. 😁 Thanks so much for your comment, and thanks for watching!!
@@UglyTruckExperience I also find it a mind drain.

I just scored a 72 custom delux. It has power brakes, five lug, heater and ac. I got lucky cuz I only paid 3500 in the panhandle of Texas
Enjoyed this...

Missed my "M'kay" quotient. I figured I was gonna go through a case at least playing "the game" Ha! Love the Videos, keep 'em coming!

Pop the lid on the master before running the calipers in
Good job Emily, but I think ur ball joint may change..
Thanks Bobby! This poor truck needs a lot of things... Maybe someday we'll have time to work on our own projects for once! 😆

I think Emily is a little hard on the brakes 😏. Good job on the video I watched yours before VGG
Go fast, stop fast! 😁 I just took a peek at VGG's newest... A Hemi in a Chevy is ALMOST as cool as a Ford 302 in a Chevy. 😉🤣 Thanks for watching!

And yes, I would like to avoid buying a aftermarket kit, maybe I could save some money by installing just stock parts from a newer C 10
I called called my town oreillys auto parts and they don’t have this kit 😢
