Tbh I considered not uploading this at all but the first game was such a banger that I couldn’t not upload it 😅. I assume most people don’t really mind it.
@@LowkoTV I really enjoyed Lowko-from-the-future's message. Ended up rewatching it 6 times. Both the content and the energy in those 10 seconds are just perfect.
Years and years ago, my brother and I were playing Starcraft: Brood War (before SC2 was even announced) and he did a similar strat to what Rogue did with the Overseers... He was playing Terran, and I was Zerg; I had him cornered and pinned down with Guardians, Lurkers, Scourge and Devourers, so what he did is built mass Battlecruiser and mass _Engineering Bay_ and flew the EB's over my army to tank and block for his BCs. I couldn't see anything through the mass of flying structures, and he ended up breaking out of the trap I had him in and eventually won the game.
48:58, I don't speak korrean, but ChatGPT does: [All] Rogue: "If Mr. Byun isn't coming, we shouldn't waste time. How about one more game?" [All] Byun: "Haha." [All] Byun: "Shall we?" [All] Rog: "Yep."
What I learned from this cast: Serral has broken zerg so much that they've had to overtune the other races just so he wouldn't win every tourney. Dude is a beast.
Rogue making mass overseer and spamming changelings is a disgusting 300 IQ virus strat. He's literally DDOSing his opponents APM. It needs to cook just a bit more, but put it in Serral's hands and let him remix it and the next balance patch is guaranteed to feature a heavy overseer nerf. Brilliant.
I was wondering if it's to waste APM. Or it's free scouting but he should at least split the changelings. Maybe it's just a way to avoid draw. Maybe it's just BM lol
@@bananian If the chabgelings get through you can do mass nydus, and the opponent has to choose if he loses the main or the outside base they were both fighting for. Its super OP but terran deserves it
I’m shocked pros don’t use contaminate. Right before you engage, go and goop up ten of their production structures and then they can’t remass an army. Overseers take no supply.
@@matthewjohnson3656 it's a lot of micro and its risky against anti air. It's a good idea but the zerg players rarely have enough spare apm to pull those plays off.
one of the strategies in direct strike is to use a lot of overseers to tie up anti air enemies while the rest of your army smashes them, pretty effective because it makes a lot of units focus them due to target priority of killing detectors, phoenixes and corsairs take a long time to chew through their health
40:50 Nope, killing units does not delay the stalemate. Liquipedia says that only returning resources, producing units, constructing buildings, researching upgrades or destroying buildings prevents the stalemate.
I think that first game would have been a win for Byun, but would have just taken ages to achieve. He can just slowly clear the creep and move his liberator/siege tank line forward, and box Rogue into a smaller and smaller area. You can see he was already in the process of doing this, with small marine/marauder/medivac squads clearing the outmost bases, but at that pace it would have taken 30+ minutes to force a big fight.
It's hard to say. The biggest risk, if Rogue was willing to sacrifice a few lings to build a small squad Hydralisks instead, would be to abduct the tanks and liberators one by one. Granted, they have far too many resources, so any lost unit would immediately be replaced.
I belive this is how zerg should be played, what Rogue did in the first game. Simply amazing! It is inspiring me to start playing sc2 again, this time as zerg. Last I played was like 5-6 years ago as toss. I Always liked zerg though..
wait, what? Serrals back?!? time flies when you're having fun, as my elementary teacher said to me back in the day, lol. Lowko, you can actually tell if it's a changeling pretty easily by selecting your army and if there are marines not selected, it's a changeling
Hmm 🧐… Best-Of-3, and one game out of order. Doesn’t that logically mean that whoever wins the first game must win the series? And it must be the first and last games that are swapped? 🤔
@@hm09235nd but I see the logic behind it. If we assume that the streamer initially considers the game series to be a best-of-3 and has that in mind during the game casting, then your reasoning is absolutely correct. Not the case though 😁
honestly, i coud see this being a thing together with vipers against protoss, since feedbacking the vipers inside a cloud of overseers woud be a real pain.
what if they made an upgrade that gave ultralisks high resistance to... magic damage? you know, like the damage type that snipes storms and widow mines use. Then ultras counter ghosts, and could use a buff anyways. it has counterplay with marauders and thors.
Really what I think they ought to do is go even further with the Steady Targeting change. The last update made it 130 (+40 vs Psionic), but it wasn't enough; they should go further and make it something like 50 (+120 vs Psionic), make it an explicit anti-caster weapon, rather than something that counters the entire late-game Zerg army. Might see Terrans needing to go to Ghost-mech in the latest of late-game scenarios, rather than being comfortable staying at Ghost/bio-Lib into the late game.
what suprises me is that zerg dont go for more spine crawlers and spore crawlers to defend their bases in the late game. I mean once you mine a base out you can just move all that defense to another mining colony. Or you can reinforce a slow push with broods if you got as much creep spread as rogue does. With the amount of bank i see some zergs get up to in the late game? A few spines, spores, and a nydus in each base is completely affordable. Put like 6 hydras and an infestor in the nydus and you could defend a hell of alot of bases id imagine.
Ghosts just break my brain, like why can our snipers get a head shot from a mile away on a creature underground? Shouldn't they also be able to snipe terran units in bunkers lol
I think you can sum up why terran is OP right now with the command center. Mules collect resources with no supply. Detection with no supply. Only base that defends itself. Only static defense has no limit on repair
It is amazing to me that Rogue always manages to convince his opponent to either draw the game or make a suicide charge onto creep when he's looking at getting slow rolled to death. If any pros are reading this, here is the correct reply: "Feel free to come off of creep and bring the fight to me if you get too bored. Until then, I'm killing tumors and bases, and scooting the front line ever closer to your production."
Yeah but I like to keep in mind fatigue. Terran has to play perfectly to slowly push back creep and one mistake means they lose important units so just accepting the draw in a lot of cases means being in a better mental condition to win the rest of the set. Meanwhile the Zerg can get away with literally being AFK for a solid minute 😭
Maybe its time for Starcraft maps to have neutrals and objectives, to spice up those stalemates. Some valuable mineral fields could have renegade camps or other stuff.
Perhaps Rogues intention with the overseers was strictly to psyche out Byun with the red on the minimap.... If rogue is constantly having to think about the massive swathe of red coming at him and also focus on the changelings..... It could create a massive mental advantage... Extremely frustrating seeing the draw, I feel like rogue absolutely had a huge advantage and could have attacked in and immediately remaxed on mutas and broodlords ftw.... There is no way in hell Byun could have dealt with an instant remax with so few production facilities, plus rogue had way more resources. Very lame.
They should give reapers cliff hopping a short cooldown like maybe 2seconds. Just so there's a short moment to punish them jumping up into your base. Possibly the same thing for medivac drops. Even if the players are good and can load back up asap there should still be at least a small window where the opponent can punish you for dropping your army into their base. (This should of course also apply to protoss and zerg drops)
I thought this was a great match at 20 ish minute. It is now at minute 38 and got even better :D Feels good to see the overseer and constant harrass with nyduses by rogue. Because like you said, at that stage of the game, zerg ussually start losing. Rogue is showing us a phenomenal performance ❤
What if the mass overseer was meant for hiding the lurkers, But the mass changelings was ment to force Byun's wrist to do extra work, as he is known to have wrist issues?? just a dumb idea...
I was wondering that too but I hope Rogue isn't that toxic and desperate to win. The Changelings and Nydus Worms kept Byun at home the whole game putting out fires. It clearly threw him off a lot. He feels like he's getting swarmed constantly so he makes too many Siege Tanks and gets choked on 5 bases, while Zerg robs him blind. Seems good until you can't break a traumatized Terran and realize how much resources you're short buying that many Overseers and Worms.
i get that ghosts have the "snipe" ability and it is supposed to be long range but why does it do so much damage for a low amount of cost, and why does its basic shots do a lot of damage too? emp is so universally good for any match up too
I’d honestly be ok if ghosts lost the snipe ability all together. I think that would create far less situations like this because snipe just invalidates so many Zerg late game options, and Terran still has other units that could counter Zerg late game but it would require a more active playstyle.
