Bitterly cold air has settled over Northern Illinois and rapidly began to freeze over local rivers. Ice began to break up on the 26th and is now creating several ice jams along area rivers. Minor flooding is beginning to occur in some areas.

Nothing close to ice jams up this way in frigid NE Iowa, yet.

Once that breaks up it will head down the Illinois river and cause headaches at the lock and dams
