  • MSI has done more than I expected with this Artymis 323CQR. For 1440P 32 inch Gaming Monitors, it has carved out a path in gaming. I know the video is long, but there are tons of good features and the performance is worth the watch before you buy.
    But MSI doesn't get a 10 out of 10. There are some drawbacks that you should be aware of.

    As far as the settings go. I noticed with the "Image Enhancement" setting it was making my text look pixelated. The "Response Time" setting was adding a weird ghosting when scrolling as well and turning those settings off or to normal resolved them. Not sure if anyone else ran into these issues but those helped for me.

    So I have this Monitor. Just bought it. I was playing around with software for this monitor and I saw the resolution for 2160p and I laughed thinking it cannot do that, but it is displaying video in 2160p 60Hz. I checked the resolution in windows and it says it is in 2160p, I changed the video to 2160p here on youtube and it switched over no issues. I thought this monitor is only 1440p. Is it a trick by MSI to improve or look like 4k but it actually be running in 1440p?
    I contacted MSI about this. 2 technical support reps confirmed that this monitor is capable of running at 2160p but only at 60Hz. It is branded at a 1440p monitor because they were trying to sell it that way to because it runs best at 165Hz at 1440p which is where people want more higher framerates. It does and will run at 4k ( 2160p ) at 60Hz Natively.

    • @BainCustom
      @BainCustom  2 роки тому +1

      So the monitor itself is not a native 4K monitor....but it can read 4K signals from your source. This is really intended for console gaming or similar use types. For example it will run the PS5 and XSX in 4K 60hz, but it is downscaling the resolution on the display. The reverse of this technology is used often in displays, but with the emergence of 4K gaming the downscaling has been important to be able to unlock certain features within games that only come with 4K resolutions...like HDR. Technically 1080p will allow HDR in console, but it's not always ideal.

      @@BainCustom Than explain how Windows shows the resolution at 3840x2160p, The monitor shows the resolution to be the same in the monitor menu, The in same settings set to 4k as well. The hertz change automatically as well due to this. I called MSI and they told me themselves that it is capable of 4k, but it's been listed as 2k monitor because thats the selling point, its where the strength is.
      I would normally agree with you with what I read in the Manual, and support page, but here are images I've taken ( let me know if they aren't showing I'll do my best to fix them )

      They show the model number and resolution the monitor is displaying. If it was receiving 4k, but downscaling than the monitor would still display the current resolution at 2560x1440p. It does not here at all in every setting including Windows Resolution, Advanced settings and even in game on Modern warfare you can see the display and render reslolution is in 4k and not 1440p. There is no upacaling on at all.
      The Monitor menu showing resolution in 4k as well. Can you explain that? I have tested this in other monitors The resolution stays at 1440p. This one does not.

    • @ofmannotmachine3012
      @ofmannotmachine3012 2 роки тому +1

      @@rmt74358 That's a pretty easy explanation man. Windows is saying 2160p because that's what windows is sending to the monitor. When the monitor gets the video signal, the monitor itself is down scaling that image to it's native resolution. Because this takes time and processing power on the part of the monitor itself, that's why it's limited to only 60hz.

    >ASUS TUF VG32VQR
    >ASUS XG32VC
    >MSI MAG 325CQRF-QD
    I know IPS panel are much better for fast paced games, but i really want to have curved monitor for the immersion at this 32inch size and very good VA panel with nice colors.
    I also need reasonable replacement for my MSI Optix MAG271CQR, but i'm scared from another MSI monitor because mine has strange anti-glare which makes bright screen kinda dirty or how else describe this distracting effect. 😢

      I noticed SDR does look really good when you're on the desktop and in certain games. Once you get HDR calibrated in games it is a way way nicer experience overall. You get way more levels of black with HDR enabled versus the SDR image, so instead of all the dark areas just looking like a similar level of black, they actually stand out more clearly.

    Hello, I know it's been a long time since you tested the monitor, I just bought the 343cqr ultrawide, I saw your settings in the description and you have "night vision" in "IA", however it seems very annoying to me, well no It does more than constantly adjust the black every time you move in the game and gives a feeling of "flickering" and rising and falling in intensity in dark areas. Not to mention that in some games it also produces a "Black Smearing" effect. Did this also happen to you or is it this monitor that came to me that doesn't work well with "night vision" in "AI"? I'm still in trouble. test time, and the truth is that by deactivating the "night vision" the blacks are not as good as in other VA panels that I have tried. The truth is that with the "Night Vision" in "IA" the blacks and the scenes are very good , but it has that problem of constantly adjusting and makes it very uncomfortable.

    I really wanted the 343cqr because I saw web reviews talking about how good the HDR is on these monitors. However, your video is the only one showing HDR being using on the series. Im assuming the 323 and 343 would have similiar results? I bit dissapointing especially seeing that super white washout on Metro there. Im assuming it's because there is no local dimming to enhance some parts and making other parts shaded.

    • @BainCustom
      @BainCustom  2 роки тому

      So Metro is in HDR, until I switch over to SDR to compare the difference. I do think out of pretty much all 1440p monitors I have reviewed, this monitor had the best HDR. But it's not a higher certification than others. The 34 wouldn't be much different than the 32.

      I have this monitor and I've found that with HDR enabled, it's best to turn auto brightness off, use freesync (if you can), leave brightness and contrast to defaults on the monitor itself, use in game HDR calibrations to set up your levels. And the PPI was too high to read anything. I've increased the UI scaling, but that way less software interface fits into screen. Notice that 34" ultrawides have less physical vertical screen value compared to 32" 16:9, that may explain a bump in PPI.
      This one has a lesser PPI, I'm only afraid of the 1000R curve. Moreover, as far as I've seen, 1000R monitors have a variable curve - it's more bendy in the center and near to flat at the sides. That may bring problems with video previewing.
