The name of the band is not Phil and Friends. It's Communion.

Lesh did not play with the other band members at the end because of the contract everyone signed for the Chicago shows. In fact he wasn't on the bill.

Whitefox. mah Well, as another viewer wrote, if Phil didn't want to play with the rest of the band then why did he sign up for those Chicago shows? I am not going to bother stepping into the fray over there if that is what is going down...

Joe Felice Phil is all about the freaking money, man. Phil signed a separate contract, why? I thought phil was a moody fuck during the early '80's Heineken years now he has turned to a greedy fuck. Garcia is watching Phil and he can't be happy.

TriniMendo-Humboldt Phil played separately at the Dear Jerry show because the Dead shows in Chicago left "the Dead" in an awkward position legally - they agreed to not appear together as the Dead on any other stage for a certain amount of time, so the Chicago promoters could claim they had a unique "once in a lifetime" product. The only way he could play in MD is if he played separately. Dear Jerry came about after the Chicago negotiations. My friend who flew out from Marin County works in concert promotions hooked me up with tickets for Merriweather and was very familiar with the deal they signed for both shows. You are really reading too much into all this, and to claim you know what is in someone's heart is kinda lame, no offense. And again, if Phil is moody about playing with everyone, why did he sign on Chicago in the first place? Its about the music, the rest is fan gossip.

This show is historic... Phil looks amazing . "the wheel is turning and you can't stand still..." AND " whooaa what I want to know--won't you come with me?"

He wasn't there for the stage filled participants doing RIPPLE

without GARCIA, phil may have had to go back to his job delivering mail in the 1960's

mike hunt You could say he found a way to 'go postal' with a Ritter, brilliantly. Great video.

Question for all you that think Phil can do no wrong. Where did he go after this lame wheel>ujb? Why was he not out playing with Weir,Mickey and fucking billy? Was Phil already counting receipts with his buddy Shapiro? Another question about almost penniless phil How does he find people on the street for his band and ask for money to listen at his Terrapin Rip-off. What the hell was that communion bullshit anyway other than consisting of workers from Merriweather post ? Weir plays with anyone just as Billy did mickey too. But no Phil. These upcoming 50th shows are laughable,Jerry passed in '95 and on that day in August The Grateful Dead ended. No Garcia No dead. There is no variation. But seriously Phil you are ruining everything the Grateful Dead stood for. I have not been to any further, other one's,the dead except when phil was on Bob Dylan's tour in '99 and it looks like the right choice. John kandlesick you gotta be kidding me,kreutzmann said it best when he said it was like slapping Jerry in the face when JK was asked to further. I am fortunate to have seen 403 shows since '77 and 95% before vince came around which doesn't make me better than anyone just that I saw The Grateful Dead when Garcia really enjoyed The Grateful Dead.
