    Just upgraded my standard account to Google One 100gb. One thing I love is now I no longer need to worry about increasing data storage size due to my increased storage capacity. Another thing I love is the affordability of the plan pricing which to me is very fair.

      Hey Nagashree, sorry for the confusion. It's 100GB of storage that you can either pay for monthly or annually, rather than an extra 100GB every month.

    Hello,
    First of all, great video, very informative.
    I just have one query.
    If I select the family plan, how will the space be shared?
    Will it be from the 100GB?
    And will the files be accessible for others as well or should it be shared?

    • @Nathan.Google
      @Nathan.Google 3 роки тому +6

      Hey Prashanth - thanks!
      First things first, when you use a family plan, your personal files aren't shared with the rest of the family, and they can't access your files without your permission.
      If you set up a family plan, each family member (up to 5 people) would get 15GB of separate personal storage space for their files (which is used first), along with their shared storage. Shared storage is split between everyone in the family group and is the available storage space that comes with your Google One plan (in your case 100GB).
      So it's worth noting here that you're not deciding how many gigabytes of storage each person gets, your giving them shared private access to your available storage, along with 15GB of personal storage.
      All family members can also get support from Google experts, and the member benefits mentioned in the video.
      Hope this helps, any questions give me a shout.

    Consider this scenario, I have free 15 gb storage out of which 7 gb is used and 8 GB is free. Now I subscribe to the 100 gb plan. So now will i have 7 gb used out of the 100 GB total and have 93 GB free ? or this 100 gb is seperate to the free 15 GB so total 115 GB. Because for instance, I subscribe for like 5 months, and end up using around 50 Gb out of the 100 GB. So If I unsubscribe , will get back the free 8 GB which I had before subscription ? because if not, as I could see from other comments, i won't even be able to receive any emails and that is not what I want.

      Happy to hear it helped! You can easily log in to Google One from multiple devices with the same Google Account, either through the app or a web browser. Once you're logged in you'll see that nearly everything is the same across the board, but you will also have a few device-specific options. For example, if you head into the [Storage] menu, your 'Device backup' option would be relative to the device you're using, allowing you back up each of your devices multimedia messages, photos & videos to Google.

      @Nathan.Google 4 роки тому +1

      Hey Patton, one of the great things about Google Photos is that you can access the files from anywhere once you're online. You can get to your Photos through Google One (one.google.com), however these are still stored in Google Photos (photos.google.com). Head over to Google Photos and you can select the photos you want to download (tick them individually, by day, or [shift] + tick your first and last selection. Once you've selected the photos you want to download, click the three dots in the top right hand corner and select download. Google Photos will automatically .zip these for you into one file so you can easily move them between a PC and Mac once they're downloaded. They'll stay backed up to your Google Photos account too.
      For a quick way to export your entire Google Account, including all your Photos, head over to takeout.google.com.
      Hope this helps!

      Hi, within the Google One app you should be able to see how much storage you're using (both on the Home page and within Storage). If you are close to or exceeding your paid sub then a banner usually gives you an 'upgrade' option from the Home tab. But you can always go to the 3 lines menu (burger menu) at the top left and tap on Membership plans, to see your upgrade options.

      Great question. Yes and no. If you stop paying then you'll still be able to access what you have stored, but you'll no longer be able to use it to back anything up. Your email may not go through as this also uses your Google One storage. Your content will not be deleted however, and you may get some notifications from Google about how best to manage your storage to get you back under the 15GB threshold that you get for free. I hope this makes sense?

    hi Nathan, I have 2 questions..
    Question 1: I have used 13GB out of 15GB of my free storage. Now, if I buy a 100GB & started backing up, will it first fill up the remaining 2GB of free storage and then come to the 100GB or it will start with the 100GB itself and leave my free 2GB space untouched?
    Question 2: if I buy a 100GB/month plan and backed up for example 80GB of photos and cancel the plan after a month, now will I still have access to the 80GB of photos I backed up? (Note: by now since I've backed up, I would've deleted the 80GB of photos from device or local storage)

    • @tompengilley2688
      @tompengilley2688 2 роки тому +4

      Hey Ashutosh, Q1) The 100GB plan gives you a total of 100GB including your free allowance. So if you've used 13GB and you pay for the 100GB sub you'll have 87Gb left. Q2) Yes you'll be able to access the 80GB of photos but because you're no longer paying and will have exceeded your allowance, you will not be able to add anything to the cloud, including photos, videos, flies, and emails. So you wouldn't be able to receive emails until you have storage available for them.

    I don't have a Google one account but my phone shows backing up to a Google one account. Why?

    • @tompengilley2688
      @tompengilley2688 2 роки тому

      Hey Gareth, good question. A Google account gives you access to all of the Google apps and services with one login so that you don't have to remember loads of extra login details and appropriate data can be shared between your different services, making them even more helpful. Google One is an extension of your Google Drive account, where you can already store things like photos, files, emails, and backups (up to a maximum of 15GB). So even though you aren't paying for all of the extra benefits Nathan talks about in the video you are getting the benefit of the most up to date backup system for your phones data.

    • @tompengilley2688
      @tompengilley2688 3 роки тому

      Hey Digvijay, Google One can help you in several ways. If you match it with the same Google account as you use for Google Photos (or just your Google account if you only have one) then it will increase the space you have and you can set Google Photos to automatically delete photos and videos from your mobile phone once they're backed up. You can also set your phone to do regular backups to the increased space in Google Drive and manage them through the Google One app. This should solve the problem with your Samsung phone. Then you can use the extra space in your Google Drive to move things off your Macbook Pro's hard drive and into the cloud. You can use Drive for desktop (support.google.com/drive/answer/10838124?hl=en) to manage what gets backed up. Let us know how you get on :)

    • @Nathan.Google
      @Nathan.Google 3 роки тому +5

      Hey Maliha, happy to hear it helped. If you upgrade to a Google One plan on the same account your Google Drive and Google Photos account are on, it would use these services. This means, if you are currently using Google Drive with the 15GB free storage, and upgraded to the base Google One subscription, you would see your Google Drive space increase to 100GB. There is no changing or moving of files needed. Google One ties these services together through one app along with the other member benefits mentioned, but you would still be using the same Google Drive and Google Photos if the accounts were the same, and their respective apps.
      Hope this helps.

    • @Nathan.Google
      @Nathan.Google 3 роки тому +4

      Hey Bobby, if you decided to cancel your 100GB plan, you would still have access to all the content currently on your drive - this isn't deleted. However, if this content is over the 15GB limit you would not be able to add any more content until you made space. This would also effect you being able to send/receive emails on the account until you are either back within the 15GB limit or reactivate your subscription.
      Hope this helps.

      Google Drive is a storage service. Google One is a subscription plan that gives you more storage to use across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos. Plus, with Google One, you get extra benefits and can share your membership with your family. How you use Google Drive doesn’t change, so you don’t have to worry about losing or transferring anything.

      @Nathan.Google 3 роки тому

      Hey flygumbo,
      Thanks for reaching out. If you head into your Google Photos app on your Pixel 5 and click your account settings (top right), you can head into 'Photos settings' and control your 'Backup and sync' options. Make sure that 'Back up & sync' is enabled then head down to the 'Upload size' options. Here you can choose whether your Pixel 5 uploads at Original quality or High quality. On Pixel 5, 'high quality' offers free and unlimited space for all your photos and videos, downscaling photos to 16MP and videos to 1080p if necessary. This is perfect for most, but if you wanted to upload images and videos in their original quality (e.g. 4k), you can select 'Original quality' uploading, which will now count towards your Drive space on your Google One storage plan.
      You can still access your photos and videos in the same way, either through the Google Photos app, or via photos.google.com.
      Hope this helps, any questions feel free to reach out again.

    • @Nathan.Google
      @Nathan.Google 3 роки тому +4

      Hey Daria, every Google Account starts with 15GB of free storage that's shared across Google Drive, Gmail and Google Photos. When you upgrade to Google One, your storage increases to 100GB or more depending on which plan you choose. This service is charged monthly or annually for the storage size you choose. If you cancelled your subscription, you wouldn't lost your files, but your paid storage would end, taking you back to the 15GB of available storage, and therefore if you were already over this limit, you would not be able to add any more personal files, and you may not receive emails through your Gmail account, where this storage is also used.
      Hope this helps.

    • @Nathan.Google
      @Nathan.Google 3 роки тому +2

      Hey Alexandre, great question.
      The most important thing here is that even if you cancel your subscription, you won't immediately lose access to any of your files already uploaded. Cancelling your subscription isn’t the same as cancelling your account. Those files will remain on your drive, with a few caveats:
      - When you are over your quota, you won't be able to upload or receive any more files - including Photos and Video, and this also extends to Gmail as well, so you may miss some important emails until you free up enough space (every Google account comes with 15GB free space) or purchase a larger plan.
      - Google does have a policy where if you remain inactive or go over your storage quota for 2 years or longer, your content may be removed, so just keep that in mind, but for the short to mid term your files will stay where they are.
      Hope this helps, we answered this questions along with a few more in our latest Google One video here:

      Hey hey, thanks for the question.
      You don't need Google One to use the 15GB free Google Drive/Photos storage you get as a Google Account holder, but when the time comes to increase your storage, Google One is the place to do it.
      Aside from allowing you to purchase more storage, both the app and website will show you a breakdown of where your storage is being used (Drive, Gmail, Photos, Device backup), which devices are backing up, benefits available to you in your region, support and your settings.
      In short, the Google Drive app or drive.google.com is where you want to be for uploading files to store online or share. The Google Photos app or photos.google.com is where you can upload/edit/share your photos. And your available storage can be managed and increased through either the Google One app or one.google.com
      Hope this helps!

      @tompengilley2688 2 роки тому

      Hmmm, any phone getting hot because you've posted a question definitely isn't normal but I'm guessing that was a coincidence. Phone screens on their own don't usually heat phones up but the processing of whatever is happening on screen can. If this happens again I would go to Settings > Battery > Battery Usage and have a look at which apps used a lot of battery at that time. An app that has used a lot of processing power will use a lot of battery and both things create heat. And if that is happening in the background then I'd look at what permissions that app has and whether you think that app should be doing a lot when you aren't directly using it.

      Hey Prazss,
      Currently there are no one-time payment plans available for Google One. However, Google does offer an annual subscription for those that want to pay less frequently, and the price of this would be cheaper in the long run - costing the equivalent of 10 monthly payments for the year. For example, a 100GB plan would cost £15.99 for the year when paid annually, instead of £1.59 month.
      If you are only needing an extra 10GB of storage, it may be worth setting up a second Google Account which comes with 15GB of free storage as standard.
      Hope this helps!

      Hello Maresa, think of Google One as more of a subscription versus something that you purchase once and is always there to use like a physical hard drive. Google One as an annual plan gives you access to the storage plan of your choosing and you would have to pay yearly or renew your subscription yearly to continue having access to it.

      If you head over to the Google One app, or website, you can select 'Settings' -> 'Change membership plan' and you will see the available options to upgrade (or downgrade) your current plan. The options here will let you choose either a monthly or yearly (annual) subscription.
      If you ever need help, as a Google One member, you have fast access to experts. If you head over to the 'Support' section you can choose to speak with someone via Phone, Chat or Email.

    • @Nathan.Google

      Great question! If you decide to cancel your Google One membership (you can stop the monthly plan at any time), you'll lose access to your additional storage and revert back to the 15GB of free storage. If you have stored more than this on your drive, your files will stay safe and you can still access them, but you won't be able to store anything new. (You would still be able to store photos in Google Photos at 'High Quality' as this is free, as are Google Docs/Sheets/Slides etc but your associated Gmail account wouldn't be able to send or receive messages until you free up space or re-enable a plan with enough space. If you did cancel, your benefits would stay until the end of the billing cycle.
      Hope this helps!

    can google one backup settings?

    • @Nathan.Google
      @Nathan.Google 3 роки тому

      Hey KUHANRAJ, happy to help with any follow up questions with clarification on what settings you are referring to.
      Google One can be used to back up your Android phone for example - which includes app data, call history, contacts, settings and sms messages (third party messaging apps often offer their own sync/backup service), and this procedure would differ depending on which type of phone you own.
      But as an example, Pixel has a Back up & Sync option in your system settings which can back up to Google Drive. Or, with Google One, you can open the app and head to the 'Storage and more with Google One' link and tap the 'Setup data backup' option.
      Remember, you can sync your bookmarks, history, passwords and other settings that are personalised to you through Google Chrome. Just head to your Google Chrome Settings-> More Settings, tap the account you want to use and make sure Sync is enabled.
      If you are looking to backup your phone to a new device and you still have your old device, you can connect both phones together during the setup process of your new phone, and Google will copy across the data you specify.
      Files from third party apps, like configuration profiles, or bookmarks from different web browsers, can also be stored on your Google Drive and downloaded at a later date.
      Hope this helps.

    Just a query
    Is it 100Gb per month or 100Gb till I use up all space. And do I have to pay every month to use that 100Gb space?

    • @Nathan.Google
      @Nathan.Google 3 роки тому

      Hey SURYA,
      If you went for the 100GB plan, you would have 100GB of cloud storage available to store your files. This isn't a transfer quota but a storage quota, so you can move as much to and from your Google Drive as you like within that 100GB storage size limit.
      You can pay for your 100GB of cloud storage either monthly or annually. Google currently don't offer a one time payment solution for this service, but if you opted to pay annually for your 100GB, you would receive a 2 month equivalent discount every year.
      If you end up having more than 100GB of files you wish to store, you could either remove some files from your Drive to make space, or upgrade to the next plan available which is 200GB.
      Hope this helps!

    • @Nathan.Google
      @Nathan.Google 3 роки тому +1

      Hey Ali,
      You can share Google One with up to five additional family members (that's six in total), all of which will share the storage space that comes with your Google One plan. Because of this, Google does not offer specific allocation sizes. Instead, everyone has unrestricted space within your [100GB] plan (without sharing any of your personal files - they can only see what you store if you specifically share it with them).
      Remember, everyone in your family group would already have 15GB of free storage with their Google Account, and they only start using the shared storage from Google One after they've used up their free 15GB.
      Hope this helps.

    I have a question. I can't seem to find out what this 100Gb even means. Does it mean that each month I get a 100Gb space to fill with stuff and pull off whenever? Or is it like "You can only upload 100Gb worth of information per month whether you take stuff off or not"
    Essentially, Can I upload a large 6Gb file to the storage space, download it elsewhere, then delete it and have 100Gb of space left? I cannot for the life of me get this question answered and it is the tipping point to have me join or not. Any help from someone with the service who knows how it works would be great! Thank you

    • @Nathan.Google
      @Nathan.Google 3 роки тому +3

      Hey RellekEarth, happy to help. Your Google Drive allowance is yours to use as you wish. This means, for example, if you added a 6GB file to your 100GB drive, you would have 94GB free while the file is on there (and remember, anything created or shared with Google Docs, Sheets, Slides... does not count towards your limit). If you removed that file from your drive, your available storage would go back up to 100GB again. Whether accessed through one.google.com or drive.google.com, you are always shown how much storage you have used, and have left, in the options panel.
      Hope this helps.

    Secondly, if I renew this plan again next year, does it mean I will get more 100Gb of storage?

    • @McCartney-GoogleTrainer
      @McCartney-GoogleTrainer 3 роки тому

      Hey Yukta, thanks for the question. Google One plans are billed monthly or annually and give you access to the amount of storage in your payment tier. So with your tier, the 100GB plan, you will have access to this amount of storage until full and you will be billed for this annually. If you took a monthly plan it would be the same amount of storage but you would be billed monthly.
      If you cancel your plan you will still have access to what you have already uploaded but you won't be able to store anything new, over the free 15GB allowance, until you renew your plan.

    • @Nathan.Google
      @Nathan.Google 3 роки тому

      Hi djana,
      You get the whole 100GB from the moment you start the plan, which would then be billed either monthly or annually. The storage plan sizes (eg 100GB) are referencing the amount of space you have to store your files. This means you can choose to store files there permanently, or remove them at a later date and free up that used space.
      Hope this helps, any other questions just give me a shout.

      Hi sfya1,
      If you cancel your storage plan, your storage limits would be reset to the free level at the end of your billing cycle, which is usually 15GB. Any files you have stored on your Google Drive will remain there until you move or delete them, but you won't be able to add any more files if you are over the 15GB limit, and your Gmail services would be interrupted (no sending or receiving messages) until you are with the 15GB limit.
