    Title
Mining for modular data from congruence representations
    Abstract
Modular fusion categories (MFCs) arise naturally in many areas of mathematics and physics. Associated with an MFC is a pair of complex matrices, called modular data, which are arguably the most important invariants of an MFC. The modular data of an MFC generate some uncanonical congruence representations of SL(2,Z). In this talk, we will discuss how modular data could be reconstructed or discovered from congruence representations of SL(2,Z).

    Speaker Introduction
Professor Siu-Hung Ng (Richard) works on Hopf algebra, quasi-Hopf algebra, and tensor category. He has made significant contributions to the theory of modular tensor categories. Together with collaborators, Richard established the categorical theory of Frobenius-Schur indicators, which he used to prove, among many other results, the Cauchy theorem for MTCs, the rank finiteness theorem, and the congruence kernel theorem. These concepts and results have become the foundation of the classification of MTCs, and Richard received the 2019 Alexanderson Award.
