its sad that muai burnt down I was there 5 days before the fires. the fires have claimed many lives and the ohona tree is distorted. lahaina it was butiful as it was
Sad to hear what happened to this station and the town it was protecting.. That Tatra has to be the only one of its kind in the US right? I sure hope it survived all this.
Judging by maps of the fire, the Lahaina fire station might still be standing, but the majority of the town is not. At least two fire engines were swallowed by the flames, but the Tatra truck appears to be fine (I saw it being used to fight the fire in some news footage). I am not sure if there are others like it in use anywhere else in the US, but can say quite confidently that it’s the only one in this color!
It must have been quite the journey to have this interesting looking rig shipped from the Czech Republic where this beast was built to the US mainland for further modifications, and then from there shipping it all the way to Hawaii! 😮
It's horrible what the people of Maui are going through and what the world is going through this summer. I express my greatest sorrow to all the dead and their relatives, and to all those affected by the situation. 🫡 Great video! Love the yellow colour scheme on those truck!
probably a Tatra chassis with a Pierce body system built on it ... in Europe that's the standard, to have a commercial chassis with a fire apparatus manufacturer building the rest of the truck onto it
I think it should be noted; the Engine 1 that's seen in the video was the older truck, which was not destroyed by the Maui Wildfire 2023 (thankfully). The truck that was destroyed was its successor, a 2021 Pierce Enforcer 7010 PUC pumper. That being said, the role for the destroyed Engine 1 is probably back with the Engine 1 truck seen in the video, a 2007 Pierce Arrow XT, since it is currently a spare apparatus for Maui Department of Fire & Public Safety.
Ok I see. Do you have any source to verify which exact truck was destroyed? I am only asking because I have heard both things now (older/ newer truck destroyed) and don’t know which one is correct.
Thanks! There was a huge wildfire that destroyed almost the whole town of Lahaina in a few hours. Engine 1 was overcome by the flames while trying to fight this fire (the firefighters are ok as far as I know).
Great video. Hearing what's going on over there on the Radio makes me really sad, but knowing the town was wiped off the maps by the fires is shocking. I just hope, that they'll get this blaze down soon.
Thank you! Yes it’s really shocking. At first I assumed that the wildfire had been burning near the town for some time and eventually got too close to houses (giving people some time to evacuate), but then I realized that it came up almost out of nowhere and people in Lahaina had no warning! That’s why the death toll is so high. Very scary.
At least 2 MFD fire engines were completely destroyed in the fires. I cannot confirm whether it was the old Engine 1 (seen in this video) or the new one (current rig). I’ve gotten conflicting information on this.
As for why this particular route was taken rather than simply using an ex-US Army HEMTT water tanker is beyond me tbh, could have saved a ton of $$$ as shipping costs go down considerably because HEMTTs are US-manufactured

That Tatra Tanker Fire Truck is Cool as well the apparatus!
For sure. Thanks for the comment.
very nice Tatra, and one of the few types of European trucks which made it to the US
Yes that’s right! I love this truck. 👍🏼
0:56 strange firetruck... Nice catch
First Czech Republic Tatra in American Fire Force Good. Let them serve it as long as possible

I've seen video of one in Florida somewhere.
San Diego had a few as their standard brush truck model for a little while before switching to international and freightliner type 3s
@@TGGGlobalEmergencyResponseswhich fire engines were they?
US Fish & Wildlife Service at Sheldon-Hart Mtn National Wildlife Refuge had a Tatra extreme use water tender.

What happened over there is so scary and sad. My prayers are with them 🙏

Yea looks like Pierce added the tanker module to the Tatra chassis once it was shipped to the US. Absolutely, I still can’t believe it…
Awesome video!!
Thank you

Excellent Catches. How Did Fire Destroy Engine1?

dude that's a great catch

my heart goes out to the people of that town and area around it
Tatra is the best.
I like Tatra so much.
Nice catch
Thanks!
We pray for the people of Maui that they stay safe ❤❤❤
Also I think it’s unique how Maui paints their trucks yellow it’s pretty cool!
❤️
SWEET RIG, what’s the water tank capacity and does it have a separate AFFF tank??Thanks for this video!👍🏽🇺🇸
without them whos gonna put out the fires?!
Nice video! Prayers for Lahaiana 🙏
Thank you!
The Dutch Army Fire Service uses Tatra as well. Excellent offroad conditions.
That’s cool!
Engine 1 got burned? Thought I saw it responding.

This ff apparatuses wasn't enough though....
No, one truck won’t be able to save a whole burning town…
@@TGGGlobalEmergencyResponses I know... That fire was absolutely horrifying 😱😱 probably one if the worst ever in peace time..... As I know of.....
