Lzzy Hale was part of the same De(Tour) event and this performance is what put The Warning on her radar. After that performance she tweeted about them and later on had a song writing session with them over Zoom. Then this year decided to invite them on her US tour. So the fact that they always go at it 💯 and them giving an incredible performance, even though the event was for charity and over the Internet, is probably the reason why they have received all the opportunities they did later on and deservedly so. 😀
The disappointment in your face at how short the songs were is something many of us experience. The Warning always leaves you wanting for more. 👍😎

That performance of Dull Knives was especially empassioned in large part because they were performing during a live streamed fundraiser that big time musicians and execs were likely to see and hear them perform. They needed to bring it, and they sure did!

The Warning Cave is their home basement studio. Most of their cover songs were recorded here.
The chant Pau and Ale sing is the Japanese word 'korosu' which means 'killing' or 'to kill'.
Dany doesn’t subscribe to the theory that every rock song needs a guitar solo. She puts much more emphasis on a hooky riff. She carefully picks her spots and is fully capable of shredding when need be.

i felt the same about sinister smiles at first but it has really grown on me. dull knives is a banger and its short so it keeps you wanting more. .... and qotms is my fav the warning song!!!!!

"Dull Knives": The best three minutes in rock! The girls say that if you think it's too short, then listen to it again! This was the band's video submission for DE(Tour), a day-long, multi-artist, multi-venue online concert, put on as a benefit to help independent musicians and small venues that were struggling during the pandemic. People in the chat liked it so much that it was shown twice! This is the performance that Warned LZZY Hale of Halestorm. It was then that she said she wanted to take them out on tour. They have done several songs in their home studio. Their two most-viewed videos are from there: "Enter Sandman" (Metallica cover), 24M views, and "Back in Black" (AC/DC cover), 4.5M views.

I’m one of the very rare The Warning fans who doesn’t rate Dull Knives. I don’t dislike it, I just find the other songs better. Sinister Smiles is one of my favourites, as is QOTMS. Though I didn’t rate it on first listen. Then it shot quickly to being a highlight!

Another great reaction Cheezy. Sinister smiles was a song that only after a few listens ended on my playlist. Dull Knives gives me an 80's vibe of old school rock ,brilliant song. QOTMS, The title track is just a great rock song. When Pau sings Korosu it means to kill in Japanese.

Great reaction as always! All 3 of these songs are absolutely incredible! You can really feel the music moving the story along, and the rythms and melodies reflect the state of the Queen's broken mind.
Story wise, Sinister Smiles is the evil side trying to assert itself and is now a distinct split personality. Dany and Pau share the vocals, with Dany portraying the evil side, and Pau the good side. As the Queen descends further into madness, the evil side is trying to shatter the last remaining parts of her conscious mind to be able to fully take over, which is what the "Break Apart"s mean. At some point both Pau and Dany sing together, possibly to signify the tipping point where the evil side now finally has the upper hand.
Dull Knives is the good side's last stand, as it were, and she threatens to take her life to stop the evil inside her. It doesn't work and I think the end of the song represents the evil side finally claiming victory and becoming the dominant personality.
Queen of the Murder Scene is the evil side "settling in" into her new role, taunting the good side with her victory and boasting that there was no way she could have been killed, and that the rules don't apply to her. The evil side is ruthless and without remorse, and she now chants "Korosu Korosu Koro Korosu" which is japanese for Kill. Her urge to kill is rising, and Bad things are about to happen!
Next up is P.S.Y.C.H.O.T.I.C, Hunter, and The End. It's an amazing finale to an epic story! Looking forward to your next video! Stay 🧀!

Admittedly 'Dull Knives' is still my fav off QOTMS and the best 2:30 ish mins of rock this ol school metalhead has heard in a VERY long time!
On that third song you are correct it is Pau's voice behind Dany's and also they do use a backing track with a WHOLE lot of singing/screaming in it (you can find it on a concert video from Argentina with bad sound)... Pau also sings backing vocals Corosu, corusu, coruso... which in Japanese meas kill, kill, kill... Aleh sings it second in falsetto!!! It is just freaking superb!!!

The sound guy put the backing track directly on to a big feed line like Dannys voice... and the ladies voices were muted some what ... and over the loud speakers you can clearly hear the backing track... There is also clearly a backing track in the song that Cheesy played here...

@@danielmccormick3611 Backing track/click track they do use most of the time... That is how the ladies sound like a more full playing group. All the music/screams/laughs/added guitar etc... are all done/played by them... Pau puts them in her computer and when they are sequenced to play they do... It is what makes them sound so full as a band. Dany and Aleh also double their guitars, meaning they have their boards set to play the sounds a fraction of a second behind their guitars giving them a fuller sound... This is also an input by Pau's computer but can also be controlled by Dany & Aleh on their guitar boards...
Fromage! Glad to see they give you joy as they do to all who get to know them. Ale, under rated bass player, she is the sub sonic metronome with Pau they are a thunderous rhythm section.

It's funny how songs can hit people differently. Sinister Smiles is one of my all-time favorite songs by The Warning. Pity they don't play it on tour, even when they are headlining a 1 hour and 15-minute set. Guess I'll have to wait for that 2- or 2-and-a-half-hour gig that they will surely be playing someday. @@Cheezyxyz look for the acoustic version of SS where Pau is playing electronic drum pads. That's what made me love the song. Ale does an amazing falsetto harmony through the chorus. It's an awesome song.
I do recommend you Their version of Metallica's "Atlas Rise" from the warning cave is awesome! There's live versions of it, but the one at the cave without ambience noice is just great!!!!

I agree with the Atlas Rise cover. It's the last cover they've done. They were eager to shake the impression that they were a cover band once they started writing their own material but this cover of Atlas Rise is a killer. Dany and Pau trade off on vocals again. The story I heard was the Metallica album this came from had just come out and they learned it in four days. Unreal. The cave version is the best,, the version from the Whiskey a Go Go is a little plagued by bad sound and not the greatest video quality. (Of course I've still watched it about 50 times 😅.)

From what I understand, Pau created the visuals for the backdrop. Heard what you said about the solo, and I agree they should only be added when they feed and fit the song.😉👍❤🤘

From here on out, you have to view the Queen as 2 entities, the good and the evil sides. In Sinister Smiles, Pau is the good and Dany is the evil. They are fighting for control. The good feels that she is not strong enough and threatens suicide to take them both out. "Cut through skin and stain the water." By the end of the song, they have broken apart into 2 distinct personalities.
In Dull Knives, the Queen is cutting herself and dull knives are better because they cause more pain.
In QotMS, the evil side is winning control and boasts of her power. "You don't deserve the throne. The crown is mine!"

They really don't do covers but they made an exception in 2019 when they played Atlas Rise as an encore after about two hours of original music. It was a private show at the Whisky a GoGo. Anyway, since the song calls for a guitar solo you get to hear Dany shred it.

It's really their last official full cover save for some individual efforts from each girl and a few short versions of songs for the Mother of All -Rock Festival in 2017. I'm thoroughly enjoying going on this journey with you here. In regards to the solos, they say that they look at each song and try to figure out what that specific song needs. Whether it's a piano, violin, sax, whatever. Apparently, they agree with you (and me) in that a lot of times the solos just don't fit the song. One more chapter left in this adventure which includes one of, I think, their catchier songs in P.S.Y.C.H.O.T.I.C.

These are all great songs. Ale's sound is amazing. I wonder if she can get that sound from her 5-string bass. Martin TW has done some great videos from the Canadian tour with Three Days Grace. Also, Dany blowing minds, singing with Three Days Grace.

In QOMs most people notice the black paint on Danys throat and hands but quite a few miss the red paint on her pants representing blood.
Nice! In Sinister Smiles the Queen starts going mad, breaking into evil (Dany) and good (Pau) personalities. In Dull Knives she is threatening suicide. In QOTMS her evil mind is still trying to justify to her good mind what she did to her crush.

In 2020 The Warning were doing a North American Tour and they had to Cancel it because of Covid, So The Warning played a Whole Concert from their Basement Studio called the The Warning Cave and they streamed Live on Facebook and UA-cam at the same Time. The concert is on UA-cam if you want to see it. "The Warning - QUARANTINE OFFICIAL SHOW"
This is the concert where you get to see the 'Dany Dance' which spawned a cover from Patreon members with their own interpretation of the 'Dany Dance'. Pretty entertaining!
As you begin chapter 4, I will point out that this Lunario show is the first time that Chapter 4 was ever heard (let alone played). The crowd reaction is a real time one. The album was released by chapter, culminating with this show.

The beginning of QOTMS, especially the riff, reminds me of You've Got Another Thing Comin by Judas Priest. Pau's chanting in QOTMS was her saying "korosu" which is a Japanese word she learned from an anime which means, kill or to kill. Dany's performance in the Lunario show is like a method actor giving an Oscar winning performance cuz she is one of the sweetest people in the world, but she fully immerses herself in that role. Ale's bass on this album doesn't sound like any bass I've ever heard before, it definitely drives every song.

Just something for you to watch and checkout. During their touring in the US with Halestorm after the Dallas/Irving show when Lzzy gave Dani a Gibson Explorer, you can see Dani using that guitar for QOTMS. And she uses it for Enter Sandman, also.

Regarding guitar solos. I kind of remember someone once asking Dany this question. Her response (paraphrasing) was that they will only add a solo if it's appropriate and fits the song.
Watch Foro Didi. During Sinister Smiles they call out a Patron who finds that that song is their least favorite. Then again, their performance at Foro Didi was much more breath taking than Lunario. And they were on top of their game with the song structures at Foro Didi. They finally figured out how to really put the vocals and the instruments into place. Well, they did a little mess up with Crimson Queen because their battery pack, if I remember correctly, died on them, so the guitar used didn't work. But the rest of the songs really came into their own at Foro Didi. And they have never really made their sound so perfect. Whenever I listen to Queen of the Murder Scene, I always listen to Live at Foro Didi. I do put the Lunario Crimson Queen in the mix because there is just something about that performance. I used to prefer Foro Didi's mess up, but have come to find Lunario's Crimson Queen sounds better.
You might find Sinister Smiles to be one of your faves after reading the lyrics and understanding the album more.
The Sacrifice was my least favorite of theirs for a while, but it's become my number one from the album. I don't think the album has a good song on it. Every single song is great...!
I watched that live stream performance of Dull Knives (and the rest of the songs they played that day) and they were definitely on top of their game! That drum run that Pau throws in at the end is just nuts!🤘😎🤘 *EDIT:* The part in the QOTMS title track where it sounds like a different song, they're singing 'Korosu, korosu, korosu!' Which is Japanese for 'To kill'. I love Dany's little solo part in this also.. there's a couple more on the rest of the album, and when they get to 'The End', listen carefully and tell me who Dany reminds you of when she does her little solo there.😉

Chapter 3
Sinister Smiles
In Sinister Smiles, the Queen is having a fight between her good and bad sides. It’s performed as a duet between Pau as the good side and Dany as the bad. The bad side is taunting the good with her power but the Queen is trying to be strong. She even starts to threaten suicide, probably in the tub, hence the “stain the water” lyric. This is a very feminine way to commit suicide, in the tub, maybe a bubble bath, so that the blood from slashed wrists remains in the tub and does not dirty the house. Then the evil side joins her in singing that part - so does the evil side want suicide? By the end of the song, the two warring personalities break apart.
Dull Knives
In Dull Knives, the Queen is losing control and seriously considering suicide. In the previous song, Sinister Smiles, she’s already said “. . . grab the dagger. Cut through skin and stain the water”. This is a very “feminine” way to commit suicide-- in the tub, maybe a bubble bath, so that the blood from slashed wrists remains in the tub and does not dirty the house. I assume dull knives cut “better” because they cause more pain, and at this point she is self-mutilating. She realizes that her evil side is winning. She is losing control.
Queen of the Murder Scene
In Queen of the Murder Scene, the evil side taunts the Queen (“You don’t deserve the throne. The crown is mine”). She is proud of how evil she is and boastful about it. But the Queen may have something to say about that in the next song, P.S.Y.C.H.O.T.I.C. (Korosu is Japanese for “kill”).

"The End" is one of my favorites,there is a lot to love about that song, esp. the guitar solo. I hate that Dany gave up her Manson, it was really part of 'her' sound in those days.

Haha ,i know that we the fans or listeners of the song we think that the song could have been just a minute longer ,but you know what bro! I blast this song on my corvette after work on my way home lol and i listen to it a good 7 to 8 times and by now im like ... the song its just perfect ,i can't imagine the song being any longer ,not mention the fact that this song was written by a 13,15 and 17 year old girls back then lol ,it just blows my mind how talent this girls are at a such a young age. One more thing brotha ,i think that the reason why you feel like queen of murder sound it like other song they have its because you where just watching a documentary of the warning where they actually play that song live and they just play it for just few seconds, days later now you hear it again ... maybe thats why!?? Funny how easily it is to simply get sucked into this story telling album, and forget it's being told by 3 kids, that have yet learn to drive a car, or buy a drink at the venues they play in. They know that people remember a good Riff, over a guitar solo! I know I do. Recall any song, and the riff is what you think of first. The next chapter is going to bury your soul even further. when it's over, your going back to the beginning, then again for good measure. Sinister smiles is one of my favorites, not only is it a great song, but it is where the Queens mind is really splitting apart as the Evil Side, sung by Dany is pressuring the Good side, sung by Pau into breaking apart and allowing the evil to reign. The good side tries to fight back threatening suicide to stay in control. Dull Knives is a master piece of rock. As Pau said, "We know it is short but if you want to hear it longer then play it again". They tried to make it longer but it just didn't fit the song and made it worse, so they just kept it short and not fix something that wasn't broken. Surprisingly for me the Title track Queen of The Murder Scene is my least favorite for me, I still really like it and listen to it repeatedly, but I like it slightly less than the others. In the song the Queen is fully embracing her evilness and is posturing how evil she is and that nothing can stand in her way, she has taken the throne of hell and is firmly seated upon it. Dany doesn't often do a guitar solo, but when she does she does it well and only does enough to fit the song and not overshadow it, she does the same in The End and in XXI century blood.

Regarding getting Black Sabbath vibes; From the first time I saw them, Pau reminded me of Sabbath's first drummer Bill Ward in the way she all out attacks those drums. In the QOTMS song Pau repeats the word "korosu" several times. It's a Japanese word for to kill or murder.
I would like to feel the songs like English spikers do, I understand but Is not the same as when I listen in Spanish, korosu means to kill in Japanese, greetings
You handled Dull Knives quite as by the girls suggested: If you think, the song is too short, play it again. Want to see more from The Cave? You should do a reaction to The Quarantine Official Show. When their tour was cancelled, they put on a live concert for the fans, and streamed it from The Warning Cave. When their dad, Luis, understood how important the music was to the girls(pre Enter Sandman), he sold his Classic Harley Davidson, and used the money to build the Cave in the basement of the family house. The concert was1hr and 40minutes, I think. The girls felt bad for the fans who were waiting for the tour, and then the pandemic shut everything down. Didn't slow them down at all.

I won't say that I enjoyed your disappointment, but the abruptness of "Dull Knives" and "QOTMS" is/seems intentional to me at this point in the story. Without giving away the final chapter, you comments during "Sinister Smiles" and the "break apart" regarding the Queen are on point. I do tend toward conjecture when I'm watching or, in this case, listening to a suspenseful storyline, and I could sense you processing where you think this is leading.
As others have already posted here, nice selection to watch the "Dull Knives" performance from The Warning Cave.
In some ways I think the subs are anticipating not only your final installment of QOTMS and your take on the story, but also then being opened to more of their material.
I also agree regarding how too many guitar solos can be obnoxious and detract from a song, whereas Dany has a knack of sliding out of the main riff and melting right back in without going overboard.

Both Pau and Ale had to look away with grins to continue playing or I imagine they may have cracked up with their elder sister adding a dramatic flair of throwing her arm up while belting "To tell you, to tell me, to tell you that it's alright" :D
Love this. Ale is dressed to kill, Pau and Dany, not so much. Yet they banged this one out. One big disappointment is that most of these songs are just too short. Left me wanting more.

It is not the first in the Warning Cave. Do the the warning quarantine official show from the cave. The best without a crowd. And they not need a human crowd do get a perfekt concert and with a lot of fun.
I thought the Warning was a good band, but when I heard QOTMS for the first time, it separated them from any band Ive heard in decades
