  • Do you want to create a realistic out-of-focus background to make an image stand out. You don't need to pay for an expensive Adobe subscription to do this task! . In this video we demonstrate the tools of Affinity Photo to get beautiful bokeh with the lens blur and compound masks.

The dog has a white halo around it that is objectionable. Also an elliptical focus background might have been more acceptable. Do you have the original picture for experimentation?

yes the halo cannot be helped. Unfortunately after multiple tests, it's an issue with the blurring algorithm of Affinity. The dog is available in pexels I believe but will have to search for it

Hi! How is this different to the depth of field filter?

Hi David effect is similar to the depth-of-field filter except that iI use a lens blur filter which may give more realistic bokeh and I manually create the gradient for a more natural progressive blur. The depth-of-field filter is more "fixed" in its effect. Hope that helps.
