Thanks for doing this. Fantastic job designing your family backyard. It’s magnificent and your price is low imo. In my 45’x30’ backyard I had one of the big 3 pool builders design and build a spool (15’x17’) in 2021 with two water features, turf, broom finish concrete decking, basic Hayward (no automation), no heater, no spa, no landscape lighting + river rock + drip irrigation-not PVC + landscaping (14-5 gal. hopseed bushes) + hard dig ($6k extra). Total $65k! I use a system of umbrellas for shade. It’s actually quite nice, but a colossal pain opening and closing. My next expense is pergolas to cover most of the backyard. Quotes are $20-$30k for pergolas.
Im a realtor in SoCal and i adored this video. I love the details and the fsct you added to your family home. This is what I will do. Thank you so much.
We moved into a new build in Arizona in 2022. We didn't need, we thought, a pool because the development has a community pool. We were wrong. We decided to build a pool which required removing our original landscaping. I said we didn't need a spa but my wife reminded me that I'm wrong. Now, a pool with spa (currently waiting on pebble), outdoor kitchen, firepit and landscaping. Probably the same company that did yours (an electrical avian). It's a lot of money but, you can't take it with you!😂
I had a pool estimate for 50x20 pool with spa and a water feature and the estimate is $195K. Looks like the prices already went up. I've lived in AZ for almost 20 years now and a pool is really a good investment.
Really appreciate the time on this video, it's always a big question on cost for a pool and hardscaping plus all the little extras that add up. The pool only cost lines up with what a local Phoenix builder has given me for when they contract out on basic 10x20' or so pool with new builds if you don't do anything too fancy.
Hello Ryan, from Ouray, Colorado. This is a super rundown of your backyard paradise! It looks really awesome....and is incredibly functional. I typically dont care to be inside much, so I can see how your yard will pull you outside!! Just for us, I would not do the basketball/tennis court, nor the slide. And, I would include a hand hold or two to get in and out of the pool by the baja shelf. Aside from that, I love everything you have done! The covered porches with misters....brilliant!! Baja Shelf for some dry-ish feet wetting relaxing.....awesome!! Including a spa on the side....a MUST, for us! Question- if you dont mind me asking, what made you go with a gas pool heater vice a solar heater? Have a great day!!
Thanks for the comment! I didn't have solar presented to me as an option. You'd probably need solar on your home and then just go with electric. Some systems warm up the pool by using PVC on the roof (warming the water), but that breaks down after a few years. You'd still need an electric or a gas heater for hot tub in winter. We don't heat the pool in the winter. I'm looking up smaller solar systems and maybe that's a possibility down the road?
@@EscapeToArizona awesome point. Yes. I would tend to just shift over to a hot tub/spa in the cooler months; so, wouldn't need the pool heated, per say. But yes....a house solar system, especially if I had the roof space to make the system bigger, would be a great electric heater option!
The extra turf expense proprably comes from the fact that you have triangles and not straight rectangles to cover. The turf comes in rolls at certain length and widht therefore adjusting and cutting to those shapes and angles would cost more material but they should have told you that before and not charge you the extra later.
What is the depth of your slide from waters edge to the furthest point behind the slide. And what is the height from the ground to the talesest part of the structure?
thats so cool. The price to me is incredible, i just finished building my swimming pool, is 20 meters long, by 4 meters wide, and it cost $10.000 to build. In kenya , africa. Looks like 10k in usa is enough to just get the terrain ready hehe. Amazing i like your pool and your basketball court!
Thanks Ryan for making this video in so much heat. Appreciate your efforts. Its an excellent video, explaining the cost of each component. I have been searching a lot about pool builders and some cost approximations but couldn't didn't find much online before I saw this video. I don't have that big budget as yours but anyway I don't have that big yard too 🙂. It will be great if you can also talk about financing options, what are good options available in Phoenix for getting the backyard / pool financed.
Cartridge filters are silly and a subscription. A sand tank with the newer glass beads is far superior and cheaper in the long run compared to most cartridges and as good as diatomaceous earth these days.
It sounds like the base price of the pool is just a hole in the ground and some plaster. Kind of like buying a car with no engine and no tires. Maybe I misunderstood what you said but it sounded like you have to pay extra if you want a pool pump or electrical for the lighting. Back when I put in a pool (20years ago) these things were included in the based price and then you could upgrade from there if you wanted something special.
Incredible Information Thank you Thank you!!! Helped a ton I’m in tx hopefully my costs will be similar maybe have a 15 % contingency my projects always go over great information
I really enjoyed the video! Looking into the details before really considering the investment. Although I have to say. It’s killing me that you have this gorgeous EXPENSIVE pool, it’s hot as heck and you’re still not swimming? What the 😅
@@EscapeToArizona I meant while filming! I’m assuming it’s because you were dealing with the electronics to film but man it made me wanna jump in haha. Gorgeous space. Thanks again for the great video
I personally like ice white for the pebble color... Then I'd go with lighter colors around the tiling perimeter. Feel like a lot of people go too dark in the pool and if you have little kids it's tough to see them. Plus the lighter you go on your pebble color, the more the pool lights will reflect.
Mr Money Bags...That looks like a 10 million dollars Paradise Valley mansion backyard. Show that to Europeans and tell them that a realtor in US can have this and they will burst with jealousy
@EscapeToArizona Anyway, in the last 3 months I assume you missed Winnetka, Naperville, Glencoe, Evanston, Forrest Lake, The Loop, anything that's on the lake shore pretty bad( disclaimer, joking and messing with you).
"A waste of money?" So, you just lost 20 minutes of your day, watching a video of no value to yourself? That's a waste of time and money. This man provided valuable information to many interested people, yet, all you can do is find something negative to say. Not everyone is consumed with home resale value. Some people are content and simply want to LIVE. Is there anything wrong with that???
Decided what to and what not to do to your home based on what some future buyer may like defeats the purpose of owning a home. It's yours, LIVE in it. Don't make decisions based on things that may never happen. Make decisions based on your family situation and happiness.

Hello, would you build a pool in Seattle, Washington?
Great info, Ryan. While it may have been a rather large expense, your backyard turned out to be amazing!
Thanks! Yeah we sacrificed a few vacations.

Pergolas last I checked were $30/sqft where I'm at. I got mine for $20/sqft..definitely not cheap! Sounds like an amazing yard!

What color mini pebble did you go with?
Ice white
I have a question would 140k dollars be enough to make a pool with a water slide and waterfall in California?
I'm not sure what the market is exactly, but I would think not just because everything in CA is a lot more. Maybe a smaller version?
Excellent video, good details, thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Ok what’s the total
Price guys ? Someone added it up right ?
I love your pool.Who did your pool? :)
What height is the spa? From deck to coping on spa
9 inches sorry for the delay!
I'm in CA want to move Az
Nice! Is that a vynl liner pool or gunite pool?
Gunite
I didn't know backyards this big existed in PR.
There are some larger ones!
Goat 🐐 yard.
Ryan - Does your Pool guy do work in Orange County, CA?
He does not. He works in AZ only.
what material is that basketball court/tennis ?
Gods I wish I could build One in New Jersey for that price
Yeah, we have relatives in Chicago Burbs that paid a ridiculous amount to redo their pool floor and add pavers. Probably half of what mine cost.

What color did you use inside of your pool?
Ice white
Pools are way to expensive these days smh nice thou homie
No audio system? Come on Ryan....don't you want tunes?
Lol. We have an Alexa. In ground speakers would be sweet though.

Ha! We refinanced to do this as our home price jumped up significantly in 2019-2021.

What a waste of money😂😂😂 good luck getting your money back on that pool, that is once you decide to sell your house... Veryyyy fat chance😂😂😂
Why are you pocket watching another man? His backyard is amazing. You honestly sound bitter.
