- My old USB endoscope was giving up the ghost so it is time to replace it. With a suggestion from a loyal viewer I looked on the Amazon and bought this little guy. Time will tell if it holds up but so far it seems pretty good for the price. -Enjoy!

Not a sponsor folks. I used my own money to buy this so if is a pile a crap I can just tell you with no obligations to any company. Enjoy!
I just ordered one through this link, my daughter replaced her spark plugs and didn't torque them down tight enough and the loosened up, vibrated and snapped the welded electrode off the bottom into the cylinder. I tried everything from magnets to filling the cylinder with trans fluid and cranking the motor over with the plug out. If this camera works getting that thing out without pulling the head it will have made my month. I'll update this adventure. Thank you.
For the price I'd say that's pretty amazing.
Is the only difference with the DS300 model the orientation of the unit (horizontal vs vertical)? If so, guess you can save $10 but given how rigid the cable is not really sure which orientation is more practical.
I'm so glad you reviewed this. I was just looking at it and was wondering about the side camera.
I have a timing chain issue in the Chevy 4 cyl ecotec and want to verify the valves and piston before putting a new timing set on it. Your timing couldn't have been better for me.
Thank you.
its a shame you aren't gonna get anything from this company, clearly the camera quality is very good so people are going to buy a lot of them. thanks Eric for all the great videos and lessons you thought us
Eric, arthritis sucks. I have same. I hurt every day. Strange that viewers would comment on a working person's hands and nails but I guess some folks see everything and must comment (don't have a filter) Thanks for the videos, I continue to learn things I didn't know.
Dirty hands clean money
I won't say I didn't notice, but I would have commented out of concern not criticism. More like "don't be a tough guy, go see a doctor" and not "eww". Getting old sucks.
Speaking personally, I tend to PREFER people that "don't have a filter".
It's far easier for me to deal with people if I'm aware of what they ACTUALLY think and feel about any given subject!
From my experience, the most difficult ones to 'read' tend to be females (I know... That's SEXIST... SUE me!)
The 'brighter' ones quickly learn that their typical responses don't work with me... i.e. If I ask them something and they respond with something asinine like '_fine_', then I react as if they actually MEAN fine...
@@trevorvanbremen4718 dinosaur,
if you consistently wear the appropriate gear, such as gloves, hearing protection, eye protection etc, but here we are talking gloves, you can have a career of working with your hands and not have such ugly nails and skin.
personal safety is not consistently used on this channel, which is one of the top 3 or so that I watch.
I know your days as a hand model is over, but I still love you man!
Watched this video, and told my wife "THAT"S what I want for my birthday!" Thanks for the information.
you have a working mans hands..and a physical issue that does not keep you from earning your keep ..my hats off to you young man..i am sure the ones who make the ignorant comments are sitting at home with the government teat in their mouth never having to work at a job that requires dedication and commitment...great video Eric thank you...i had throat cancer back in 2005 and its gone thanks to radiation and chemo..but every year i get a camera shoved in my nose down into my throat to do a check and its as big as the one you have in your hand 9mm ... they always want to numb my nose for insertion ...no thanks just shove it in......thanks for the video reminded me to get my next check!
DEPSTECH customer service is incredible. I bought their cheapest endoscope and had a slight problem with it. I emailed them and they sent me out this model for no charge. Didn't even have to return the old one and got a huge upgrade.
Eric, I received my endoscope yesterday and it’s as great as you showed it to be. Today I got a survey from Amazon and Depstech asking about my experience. I wrote my review and named your channel as my reason to buy it, hope they acknowledge you and perhaps send you other items the make or come out with next. Keep up the great job you do, you’re too humble as you are special and above many of your fellow mechanics skill set.
I must say the quality on the low cost cameras has come a long way.
I'm still waiting on the release of a 1080P thermal camera with a 100Hz refresh rate... Might be a long wait!
Remember the cost 10 years ago. 20 years ago. B&W with poor quality. Now, The quality was great. I want one and I only work on wood working machines. I could use it when I drop the arbor nut in the pile of saw dust on the table saw. 😃
That is getting good quality images. Camera's have improved a lot (shame the software is a bit "dashcam").
I used to get blighted by dyshidrotic eczema on my hands at times. Lots of tiny water blisters that ended up getting infected and making my hands look a bit gnarly.
Did the eczema go away by itself or was there anything you did to get rid of it?
I've had problems with my hands since I was a child and I also have Arthritis.
@@sharg0 I have pretty typical/standard eczema on my hands and face. For example, if I wash a big load of dishes without the dish gloves, my hands get very dry and cracked and red. The dish soap strips all the sebum off and irritates my epidermis and that causes the eczema flare. They look awful after that and physically throb in the red areas over my knuckles and wrists because of the inflammation. :( What helps me at that stage is plain 1% hydrocortisone "anti-itch" cream. Since the eczema is an inflammatory condition, the topical steroid helps calm and reverse it. My best strategy is prevention. I wash my face and beard with a purpose-made face wash instead of just the bar of body soap like I used to. I use a lotion to keep the skin protected and hydrated. I also exfoliate my face specifically with a gentle exfoliating glove which seems to help. Dead skin buildup contributes to irritation for me. I put hydrocortisone on my hands or face for a few days consecutively if it flares up. After 3-4 days, they are back to normal. I put the steroid cream on twice a day and I use a good lotion a few times throughout the day especially after hand washing. You need to try and avoid using hydrocortisone cream for more than 5 days in a row though. It thins out the skin and makes you more vulnerable to sunburn. :( Also try to limit the amount of surface area of your body that you put it on. It's dilute and OTC, but it's still a strong steroid and is not harmless. If you slather half of your body with it every day for weeks and weeks, you may end up with iatrogenic Cushing's disease and then adrenal insufficiency if you suddenly stop using it. That goes doubly if you also happen to be using a local steroid for nasal allergies and/or lung diseases like asthma or COPD. The local steroid that are considered "safe" can be systemically active sometimes. Not good. Small areas, for short times, and you'll be ok. Prevention is the key though. You can also get prescription eczema lotion that isn't a steroid. Elidel is one I used as a kid when I had much larger areas of eczema rashes. But...if you have bad or no insurance, some O'Keef's Working Hands or Bag Balm or other intensive repair hand lotion product will be good for prevention and plain old 1% hydrocortisone cream for flare up treatment will work for many people too.
Use to have the same problem with my hands . I’m an auto technician so it got bad from the chemicals. Tried to wear gloves to help . Steroid shots would clear it up for two weeks and it would come back. Creams and ointments would thin the skin not good in our business . Quit smoking it totally went away. Hasn’t come back .
@@mannys9130 Yeah mine was also caused by washing dishes without gloves, and also washing my hands often in dry winter months. Gloves and lotion solved it for me.
Am I the only one the read this comment hearing BigClive's voice? LOL
The only guy who can make an endoscope interesting. You need a late night talk show, Eric .
Got Arthritis myself. You got my heart. Oh, I mend my cars myself since 20 years. Oilfilters, brakes, struts and the usual and so on. My sons helping me now, so it will be done.
Speakin bout Ray. Now I find myself doin the "Diddley Doo" phone noise all the darn time. Thanks Ray. Thanks Mr. O
Sorry for your ailment arthritis Eric, it sucks. I have never paid attention to your fingers. Since you are a mechanic like me a retired one cuts and smashed fingers are part of the trade. Keep up the good work and take care of yourself. I'll pray for your healing bud.
Hi, Mr. O. That camera is great. I can imagine lots of times where you are looking for a broken wire behind something. You could even look into the gas tank to see how many rubber ducks are floating around playing whatever ducks play. You got yourself a cool new toy. Take care of it! If you break it, I am telling Mrs. O! Thanks for sharing! Stay Healthy!
It’s a shame people complain about a working mans hands. They show how hard you work for your money. The dirt and grease under the nails is good. Keep on making. Enjoy the videos and knowledge
Nice piece of kit there Eric, the camera lens sure gives clear pictures , this is the kind of modern technology that we un the trade like , your hands are working mans hands , we dont sit behind a desk pressing buttons all day , we do our job , do it right as well as we can and have abused our bodies fixing cars for years , get Mrs O to give them a massage and cream them , it works wonders , take care 👍👍👍
Great tool and thanks as always, Eric. If someone actually had the gall to gripe about your fingernails, I swear I think I'd ban them from the channel forever.
I don`t think there is a mechanic that has dreams of becoming a hand model. I have one short finger ,one short thumb and I have damaged most of my fingers at one time or another and all that damage happened while working with my hands as mechanic and a machinist. You Rock, keep helping us learn , Thank You!
The most honest and admirabledirt there is under a man's fingernails.
I definitely agree. Some people made comments before too about his hair and beard. I suppose he has psoriasis or a chronic dermatitis. I had really bad eczema as a child. I know what it's like to be self conscious about the rashes. I also have really screwed up teeth so I'm self conscious every time I smile. People who comment about appearance flaws in a negative way right to someone's face (commenting is basically that) are just bullies, straight up. 🤷🏻♂️ I don't like bullies.
Casey LaDelle has an off road recovery channel. He also has an ostomy. Apparently he got some negative comments when he talked about it. So he decided to talk about it more to try and normalize it and educate. It shouldn't amaze me what people will complain about but it always does.
I'm guilty. I asked about his thumbnail because I thought he would have a cool story about smashing his thumb.
Mr. O, your new gizmo is really neat. I'm trying to think of a reason to buy one. I'm an old guy and have regular old-guy arthritis; I'm really sorry you have to deal with psoriatic arthritis. I'm sure it's painful and makes mechanic work difficult. On the other hand, you have Mrs. O and good kids.
Like the Depstech camera. I have an older version that I used in our RV to track the satellite cables in some really confined areas. As for your hands and feet, do what you can and the hell with those who lack the gumption to know when to keep quiet. I subscribe to the saying by Confuses, "It is better to remain silent and thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt."
Image quality is great. So much better than my first gen snapon one (that cost almost $600 back in the day) Time to retire it and upgrade I think.
As a 53 year old mechanic also with arthritis.... if I had a dollar every time someone asked "what is wrong with your hands/nails"..... I wouldn't have to be a mechanic.
Awsome video thanks very much. Don't cover your hands up because what people say your hands are part of a very skilled guy be proud of them 👍
Mechanic's hands... show them with pride, Brother! You Earned them! Reminds me of the song "Daddy's Hands"
As a fellow sufferer from arthritis, I’m dealing with RA, I know there is days where my hands don’t function well but we do what we have to do to support our families. You’re a good man Mr. O and we need more of Mrs. O busting your chops 🤪
I have never said a word about a person hands. As a retired vehicle/aviation mechanic my hands do appear hideous crooked fingers, fingers that do not pull straight having arthritis and a thumb that only bends 10% on the right hand due to having my right hand and thumb being broken. Of course that does not even mention the heavy scarring and skin that has numerous lacerations and burns over the years. Some folks just do not realize that a working person will have injuries over the years and I rather see what technically what is presented then to be staring at someones hands.
Seems like you need an endoscopy 😘
I’m not reading all 797 comments but did you know Amazon has this video with the product? Followed your link and there you were. 🇺🇸😎
I purchased this endoscope on Friday to look inside the spider hole...Honda Accord with a broken timing belt...found no damage to any of the 16 valves...Dodge a huge bullet...thanks for adding this to your amazon store hopefully my purchase helps the SMA in any way possible.
Really can't complain about the picture quality! Thanks for sharing SMA!
Thanks for choosing our endoscope, Eric.
I do electrical work and often need to see inside walls and tight spaces in old construction jobs. I've seen this endoscope on Amazon buy was weary of it's picture quality. This looks darn good....off to Amazon I go!
I always hear youtubers complaining about negative comments, but when I look I hardly find any... where are they hiding? 99% are super positive!
I never noticed your nails. I just see a good 👍 person and mechanic.
i got a different one of those a few weeks back, the one with the 5.5mm camera, because i saw how clear the customer review images were. out of curiosity, i got a nice clean picture of my ear drums
Hahaha, I use it in my ears as well.
Retired a couple years ago, my hands look and feel , better than they have since I started carpenter work in 1977
thanks Erick, I know you are not sponsor but you just sold me one, I think is good to have it in your tool box , anyway is something we don't use everyday, but is good to know we have something with a good resolution and handy just in case
Had mine for about 5 years. Used it for finding tdc when I was under a truck,’ used it to spline a transmission and look at cylinders before buying a motor. Lots of other odd ball uses also
Been using these cameras for years on my customers yachts. So much easier to see what's going on behind before tearing apart a 6 million dollar yacht interior. I use the WiFi version that I connect to my phone. No included display, connects to the phone via WiFi. They work great, especially for the price.
I have never seen an endoscope with that level of detail. Very impressive. Hopefully its durable and last.
I was just about to comment this. The resolution on those cameras are way better than I thought they'd be, especially given the price point. Sounds like Eric was surprised too.
I discovered your channel while searching how to remove a hub from my old car. I started watching every time you uploaded something. You have such a high level of skill using an oscilloscope in the practical world that it became part of my classroom links for the biomedical program I taught.
It would be nice to do an entire video of using the oscilloscope.
Art
lol what an intro! now how to send you a couple of packs of gloves! thanks for the content and terrific info!
Working man's hands. Here my resume- sticks his hands out--see?? You go Guy.
I bought a pretty inexpensive camera that was only a single lens and connected to my phone, but now that I've upgraded my phone, it doesn't connect the same way.
That side camera is a great option. The camera that I have now uses a little mirror that you attach to the front of the scope. The one you're showing here is much better.
I'll add it to my cart on Amazon and keep it in mind.
Not only are these good for automotive uses but I've used them to see inside walls and firearms.
What I'd really like to see someone develop, is a way to angle/rotate the camera head from the controller. As you know, it can be a pain to get the thing aimed at what you want to look at when you're playing contorsionist.
Those hands are working man's hands! Ain't nothin' wrong with 'em! Looking forward to more endoscope video usage!
Arthritis sucks, my brother had a condition called Dupuytren contracture where your fingers start to curl towards the palm. It starts in your 50s but didn’t affect him till after he retired at 66.He was a stationary engineer, I’m a diesel mechanic so our jobs involved a lot of hand use. It’s genetic so at 55 I have that to look forward to , but I haven’t noticed any issues yet . He had surgery on both hands and with therapy he has better use of them now. Enough of that ,that bore scope looks way better then my wireless Snap-on one . I’ll have to check one out .
I have one, had it for awhile, no display wi-fi connection to my phone, resolution just as good.
No batteries to replace just plug in usb to recharge.
You’ve a great upgrade for future videos.
And as for the unboxing videos, there are far worse stupid stuff out there than watching someone unbox a cool tool!
I have a wifi one as well, and and old 8inch Android tablet that I dusted off to use with it. Used it for all sorts of household DIY as well as for working on cars.
Don't let the trolls get to ya on the finger nails. Everyone has something they're ashamed of or hiding.
Good little camera. Really impressive image. I like that case it came with too.
Eric, not only do I have arthritis in my hands I also have neuropathy in them from working out in the field in all kinds of weather from sunny days to the brutal time's in the winter months.
God Bless you and your family. Be Safe, Stay Safe.
DEPSTECH SPONSOR THIS MAN! Good camera as I have one. Fairly good images and the size allows penetration into small spark plug holes and small clearance areas.
That endoscope looks great. and it worked great in your demo.
Eric, I bought a bore scope last year. It is a Sansisco DS 350, does not have a side camera and just a little cheaper. What I found amusing is not only the camera identical to mine, the box it came in is identical with the one I got exception being the name Sansisco. The box even states "Sansisco All for your joy".
Made in China by Shenzhen Deepsea Innovation Co. I enjoy your videos always.
Nifty new toy. Time will tell if it holds up. I also have arthritis along with carpel tunnel bad in my right hand. Wake up each day in pain in that hand and have to use left hand to loosen up the right so I can go to work. That endoscope has a great picture.
Brilliant you'll be doing Gynaecology on the side with that 🤣🤣
Seriously impressed with that bit of kit. Fantastic image quality.
Don't know about Depstech, but every SMA video always fulfills all our joy, for sure 😁
I cannot believe people post stuff like that. There is definitely something wrong with the world today if that's all people can focus on. I find your content very entertaining and very informative I love it I can't get enough I thank you for posting up all these videos and teaching me what I don't know about cars which is everything thank you again enjoy your day
That cam looks like the rolls Royce of cams compared with one I purchased in a hurry! Had a water leak in ceiling roof in kitchen from upstairs cam done business locating leaky pipe. So worth the price cheap and cheerful ..but that one looks good Eric 👍
That's some great resolution 👍. I can't imagine commenting negatively about someone's appearance while watching them share their work ethic and knowledge. I say ignore small minded people and keep sharing your great videos!
I don’t want to go to hell. Lol All I heard was stiffie, poke around till you figure it out and I’m goin in the hole. 😮. Gonna go listen to Bob Seger’s Night Moves. Nice camera by the way.
i have the ds300 dual lense its freaking amazing for the clarity and price 1080p super clear super bright leds honestly was worth the price
I bought the el cheapo Depstech that plugs into a smart phone. It was like 30 bucks. Just the end camera with LEDs. Works great! It came with a magnetic pickup attachment.
I am not sure I have that, but I work with me hands every day. The grand kids call my hands pokey fingers, I love it. Cuts, scabs, cracking during the winter time, think nails from hammer strikes, all apart of brickwork and working on cars. I'd have it no other way!!
They work well. Easy to look in places you'd never have thought of...
I'm loving the saltiness, vehicles included!
Looked amazingly good to me... More than I would have expected....
I love my depstech! I have the usb one it plugs into my launch scanner! It’s compact, good quality image, led adjustable lighting, 20 bucks. Can’t beat it!
I’m pretty sure I’ve watched every single one of your videos. The finger nails never bothered me. They look like the belong to hands that work for a living. Maybe if more of America knew what that looked like we wouldn’t be in the situation we’re in now.
Doing the HokiPoki till you figure it out way better than reading the instructions or owners manuals that are lack luster to begin with nice Video Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
"This lady needs to get her valves cleaned"!! Lol 🤣🤣
Brought one of these recently, so far I'm impressed with it...
On a side note I sold my previous single camera scope to a guy on ebay... He gave me neutral feedback after a couple of days had passed.. He said it broke after two uses but admits it was his fault for stuffing it inside an engine....
Amazing how modern engines have so few combustion chamber deposits.
Great mixture control, great fuel, great lubes, etc.
*"I'LL BUT DIPPED!"*
LoL 😂😆 a little of VGG!
Great review. Thanks for sharing the unboxing with us.
Sweet, Eric you know how dudes are
with new tools, it's like my Wife in a
Jewelry Store!! Heck I'm not afraid to
say when I'm on the tool truck or at
Harbor Freight my heart rate goes up!! LOL!!
that was some pretty impressive clarity on that tool.....
That is an awesome tool! Thanks for the demo.
Sweet tool. Very clear cameras. Thanks for sharing.
I feel your pain. I have the same disease and got the same reaction from some people. It’s so hard to clean under them. I currently take Humira . It worked wonders for my fingernails but not my toes. Oh well 🤷♂️. Take care of yourself!!
All the way from Arizona..... 💯👍works great!
Pretty cool Eric. Can't wait to see you use the camera to diagnose a problem with a vehicle.
Thank you for the info brother. I have osteo arthritis as well. It SUCKS!
Great tool. Love the video and the way you explain everything. Thanks for the information.
Very cool! Great definition and clarity. Going on my list.
I love how all the car channels I watch on a daily basis all know about each other and mention each other in videos.
I'm pretty sure it was Ivan who used it first from memory a crank no start
Nevermind, his was a Teslong, not as clear as this one!
Mr. O, if I went to a mechanic/tech and they had clean hands and nails with no scars I would walk away from them. Who cares what your nails and fingers look like. Most of us are not here for a hand-modeling video. That's another Tube website
A cool tool and excellent clarity. Thanks for the review from the real working class. Your the best.
I just purchased a Depstech DS450 and this video helped increase my confidence in using this tool. Thanks
I bought an endoscope very similar to yours for the smaller drain lines in houses but I have found myself using it for a ton of other things. It's a massively useful tool for people to have in their arsenal.
Oh dear !!!!
Thanks Mr. O. I had to pause the vid to order one. Got a suspect low compression Cummings on the schedule for next Thursday. This is gonna be fun.
Praise-allelujah! Eric O is impressed. That was fun!
Eric thank you for throwing all that ceap to the side I have loved your videos for a few years now thank you for all the teaching I have learned more for you than any other person so far
Just bought one! Also applied a 20% coupon by clicking a box, so my total was $78 including tax
not anymore. not on my screen.
When i ordered it was $78, now it's $99
I also just checked the price and it's now $99 and you can hit the coupon for 5% off which was almost cover the tax on it.
Have to comment..the picture quality is pretty impressive. It is almost as good as the $50,000 bore scope we use for inspecting jet engines!
I have a Depstech USB camera I hook up to my phone. Picture quality is awesome and their products seem to last as well. Looks great!
Eric, I believe the size of that camera is 3/8 inch. Sorry about the arthritis. My Wife has it. Really screws up her life. Hope yours doesn't stop you from squeezing the trigger on that deer rifle. Thanks for Sharing!
I bought another model from the same company about a month ago (DS300 vs. your DS350). It was $80 plus the state's 4%. Looks like the specs are the same between the two, but mine didn't come with a case. Chassis is slightly different, but form factor is comparable.
Nice little scope. I was surprised by the image quality and lighting.
Instead of removing the little velcro straps, I just slid them all the way up to the end away from the camera. Out of the way, but still perfectly functional. I may find more use for them than you, since I don't have a case.
For the money...even if it didn't last that long...it would pay for itself.
I had one similar...I used to use for looking into my walls to look for lack of insulation....wire locations, and anything else that it worked for.
Definitely handy for Auto..or home applications.
Thanks for the review sir ! well done !
very cool endoscope Eric, thanks for the demo of it! Now I think I will get one for that price I can't go wrong. have a good rest of the week.
Well, thank you very much, I have been wanting a endo scope for some time but didn't want to just throw the dice. Your review was great! I just placed my order and am so excited!!!
Thanks Eric O! You're the man! I appreciate your channel, entertaining and educational!
Same here, just ordered mine now, thanks 🙂👍
I have one just like that, used it to drill an old antique safe to visualize the tumblers to unlock the safe. Worked like a charm!
Good video Eric, thank you, I am always looking for tools that will give me an edge up. I have purchased a lot of tools because of your channel over the past few years.
