$25 Unuiga S905 with Remix OS on Indiegogo
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 бер 2016
- Launching now on Indiegogo igg.me/at/unuiga it's a 64bit Amlogic S905 Quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 with Mali-450 MP5 GPU, runs Remix OS 2.0, with two options:
$30 Unuiga S905: 1GB RAM, 16GB Flash, 802.11n Wi-Fi
$45 Unuiga S905+: 2GB RAM, 32GB Flash, 802.11ac Wi-Fi
Early birds, first 100 orders of each get $5 discount. Add to that Shipping price and you may have to pay import duty when receiving the package, depending on which country you receive it at, it's shipped worldwide from Shenzhen, China.
You can find a cheaper shipping option using the cheap shipping perk.
Odroid C2 is another equivalent for about $40 that's shipping and from an established company with Linux and Android support.
+Bravest Bullfighter Odroid does not include Flash memory, need to pay $39 extra for 32GB emmc for example. Unuiga S905 might also support open bootloader and any Linux, I need to check with Unuiga's design house.
+Docteur cpu sure Odroid is cool and I filmed them many times in the last 6 years: ua-cam.com/users/Charbaxsearch?query=Odroid
vary nice for under 40$ it's a must have.
+Galaxy Ninja yes I am testing now to confirm that the performance is above Remix mini and I have used Remix mini as my main computing device for a month, I can do everything!
Is the remix os still in beta or is it a full release version.
+Galaxy Ninja Remix OS is very stable and very usable. They still have to optimize some things for the S905 before release, I have an engineering version to test, I'll post more videos in the next days
+ARMdevices.net Awesome keep up the good work your videos are allways vary informed.
whats the diff from other amlogic boxes??
Can you polease answer. I have Amlogic s805 TV box. TV box that was released before this s905. So my question is, why s805 doesn't support Remix OS?
Specs are: ARM Cortex quad core on 1.54GHZ, 1GB RAM and GPU is Mali 450.
Thanks Charbax. Nice video. Will developers who buy it be able to flash their own firmware? For example, to install OpenEmbedded or Ubuntu-arm?
+Jaya Kumar I don't know if this will be possible. I will try to ask Unuiga to support this, they can possibly help with it if the project is successful on indiegogo:
www.cnx-software.com/2015/11/19/amlogic-s905-source-code-published-linux-u-boot-mali-450-gpu-and-other-drivers/
www.cnx-software.com/2015/12/06/how-to-run-headless-linux-on-amlogic-s905-devices-such-as-mini-mx-or-k1-plus/
+Jaya Kumar I checked and Unuiga checked with the design house and yes the bootloader will be open and developers can run other OS like any Android, Chrome OS, Debian or Ubuntu or something else. Those other OSes will not be supported by Unuiga, Unuiga will only support Remix OS
+ARMdevices.net Thanks very much Charbax. That's excellent news.
is more powerfull that remix mini?
2GB RAM and 32GB Storage sounds good to me! Hopefully they come out with a 4GB of RAM model... Movies playback, watch any video format up to 4K resolution H265! Output up to 4K using HDMI 2.0 to your 4K TV. 4K @ 2.0 HDMI using a Mali 450 is beyond me, I always knew them to be HDMI 1.4
+MrBrymstond I think 4GB and 8GB RAM makes perhaps more sense with an ARM Cortex-A72 octa-core big.LITTLE Remix OS box, which I hope we'll see soon also.
ARMdevices.net I'm hoping for 4GB Ram to help push the Cortex A53
ARMdevices.net A Cortex-A72 octa-core big.LITTLE Remix OS box would be a dream come true...
+MrBrymstond it would be interesting to test what may be the difference with 4GB RAM, I guess an Unuiga S905++ with 4GB RAM is possible but they need a minimum order quantity of 1000 to be able to do it..
ARMdevices.net Leaving open tabs and open apps slow the device down 4GB would allow that more efficiently and faster but I don't have the money for a thousand... That extra ram would push the CPU and GPU speeds
Is it shipping via DHL? international shipping cost mentioned in project page is same as device price.
+Jogy Sam2 yes for most countries it's DHL, some countries it might be Fedex or TNT. Some countries have very cheap shipping for other countries it's expensive from China.. and it gets cheaper if you order 5 or 10 pieces in a box.
+Jogy Sam2 I got them to add a cheaper shipping option, it's slower though. The default perks ship with 3-5 day DHL, the cheaper shipping option is more like 3-4 week shipping time.
@ARMdevices.net We will pay tax when the product come in our country cos we are not in china... i dont think 30$ of shipping are included tax... so on 70$ of product plus shipping will be 85$(included iva) plus other tax for example for italy.... its so high..
You can choose the *cheap shipping* option, maybe if you are lucky you don't need to pay taxes
can we chg the UI of this box?
Great review, where can I order one?
+Jose Vigo you can order it at igg.me/at/unuiga if enough people order it, you will get it in April/May depending which one you order. If not enough people order it everybody gets refunded.
Great! What are its unique limitations? I'd love to see it creatively married with other products that we would love to have together.
hello,
can i install linux distros like ubuntu mate?
+TATIYA LHOUCINE the bootloader is unlocked, this is what the design house confirmed to me, so I think yes, but I haven't tried installing Ubuntu. Maybe by doing something similar to here: www.cnx-software.com/2015/12/06/how-to-run-headless-linux-on-amlogic-s905-devices-such-as-mini-mx-or-k1-plus/
Firmware for the S905 ?
can it connect to a wifi printer?
+s2pid anything that works with Android, such as Google Cloud Print which I think supports a lot of Wi-Fi printers, I think that most wifi printers are made to support Android, are they not?
I wanted to order it, but seriously? $30 shipping? that makes it $70 total.
+Yan Long Just buy a Tronsmart Android box off ebay with the same chip. They have a Remix OS ROM on their website.
+Fourthletter how much is the Tronsmart S905?
+ARMdevices.net With the almost same specs $80. Better investment because you get it no matter what rather than gambling with an indiegogo
+Techdolphin which specs for $80?
+Techdolphin I see, 2GB/16GB, that's with 3-4-week slow shipping and Remix isn't pre-installed. I'll see if Unuiga can also offer a cheaper slow shipping option, the Unuiga is kind of better specs at nearly half the price.
I wanna this but shipping so expansive-pls edit and add other cheap (include track number) shipping alternative
+ahmet albayrak I'll ask them if a cheaper slow shipping perk might be possible. I see people on ebay and aliexpress offer 2-3-week slow international shipping at cheaper.. The DHL shipping is kind of like 3-day fast reliable international shipping.
+ARMdevices.net people choose cheaper -no one care how fast -i ask one more-if this succes maybe list eBay or other platforms??
+ahmet albayrak what would be good is for a supermarket or some distributor to buy a container into your country and sell locally at nearly that same price and no need for shipping from China. And yes if successful I think Unuiga should list it on other platforms also. And for sure the shipping price is too high right now. But consider the device is so crazy cheap so that kind of makes up for it a little. If you pool together with friends and buy the 5pcs or 10pcs package then each one pays something like only $9 for shipping per device, depending on which country you are at.
+ARMdevices.net İf buy 10 piceses total price 439$ and plus %20 import tax for my country so its come same price ( 52$)
+ahmet albayrak which country are you at?
what is ur accent?
Trump 201
crowd funding? no thx
+Phillip Ramirez this year, supermarkets can be selling these at $25, by the container full. With two easily switchable UIs, remix-productivity and androidtv-leanback. Chromecast-receiver function should be supported.
and when they do i might buy one. the question is why arnt they already on the container ship already ready to be sold for 25 bucks? shoot get them up on amazon. ill buy one now. but crowdfunding? no thx
+Phillip Ramirez it costs money to ship containers full of TV boxes to some place. Big corporations like Google should be fronting the money to spread this kind of revolution around, and they should back that up with perfect software for productivity. But until that happens, here's for example Unuiga, a small Shenzhen company with potential partnering with Jide with their Remix OS a small and very cool team of ex-Googlers working on improving Android to make it suitable for productivity.
I'll send you a message when the containers are full and arrive to a harbor near you to fill these types of devices into the shelves of every supermarket. Where are you based?
why should google front you money? and what revolution? android boxes have been out for a couple years. chromeboxes also for a couple years. you are asking 25 bucks for a box and 35 bucks shipping. id buy one if 1 it was available at amazon/bestbuy 2. for around the cost of the average android box today.
right now this box does nothing spectacular. again. crowdfunding? no thx
+Phillip Ramirez companies like Google should have made this happen on a global scale by now. The ARM Powered Desktop and Laptop needs to overtake the Intel/Windows powered Desktop/Laptop market. Google having not yet made this happen is a huge mistake on the part of Google. To get this box in large quantity to your local Best Buy or to your local Walmart superstore, that is only just a question of cash, a tiny amount of cash for a company like Google, to make this happen, if I had this cash or if Unuiga had this cash, there would be no need to run an Indiegogo. But that would not have been enough, Google would also need to back it up with software. It's Google's responsibility to make sure ARM Powered Android and ARM Powered Chrome OS has a perfectly fully usable status for total productivity.
