  • If you need to cut some aluminum profile at home, and you don't want to damage any table, this is how to cut the aluminium just using an arc saw, a shelf board and a cheap miter box. This way I get a nice crosscut every time I cut. And I don't damage any table. Good for any DIY task if you need to cut aluminum or any wooden strip.

    This video was perfect! I have to cut metal transition strips. I have a hack saw. I knew I needed a miter box and blade that will cut metal. Best part of your video was how to keep the miter box from moving. Simple tasks can be frustrating if you have never done them before. This will be a snap. Thank you!

    So helpful!
    Will I be able to cut half centimeters off of strips that are too long using this method?
    Or is it harder to cut short pieces off?
    Any suggestions would be helpful.

    Is that 1/4 inch aluminum? I have an engineering questions. If I lay (3) 48x4x.25 strips of aluminum 6 inches apart and screw them in deep and well on 1 inch overhangs on each end will that support 500lbs? It's okay (actually preferred) if they bend a little .

    Just a suggestion: use oil to reduce friction, WD40 will do. Besides of reducing effort it will reduce emission of particles because they remain in the oil.
    En Castellano: si se usa aceite para lubricar, por ejemplo WD40, se reduce la fricción y la emisión de partículas que quedan pegadas en el aceite.

      @@jashmota5054 Just drink the oil, it does reduce reductions in your muscles.

    The idea to screw a piece of wood at the base of the mitre box ist quite ok but why don't you put this piece of wood in a vice ? In the vice it would be much more confortable and you could make longer strokes and get a nicer cut with less energy.

    And ideally you want to use a blade that is 32 tpi for a clean easier cut

  • @mit1346

    My mitre box is not perfectly snug with the saw blade. It has a few mm in the gap that makes a slight angle on the cut. I'm wanting to cut a fly screen door frame to fit but I don't know how to make it perfectly square without a drop saw..

    • @WoodworkingwithDIYtools
      @WoodworkingwithDIYtools  3 роки тому

      Maybe you can clamp some pieces of wood in the front and in the back of the mitre box to avoid the gap and help guide the saw vertically

    señor acuña padin, con todo respeto me dirijo a usted yo que soy su seguidor de mucho tiempo para expresarle mi disconformidad por sus videos hablados en ingles. yo veo videos en ingles y que tengo que aplicarle el traductor y dichas personas no se preocupan por por los que no hablan ingles. desde siempre me gusto su pagina tanto por los contenidos como porque estan comentados en mi mismo idioma. considero injusto que haga viedeos en ingles pero entiendo que economicamente debe ser importante, de todas maneras le digo que siempre me gustaron mas en castellano. atte. If your saw blade is getting stuck then rub a couple drops of 3 in 1 oil on it:
