Cruise lines would kill it in Australia if they brought a PC store on their ships. Imagine getting fair trade on parts and pay no sale tax on it, well that is until you pass customs, but in America that is a great deal with alcohol, because of the alcohol tax here.

That PC Depot place looks so legit. I wish more large stores that carried used hardware in the states. I don't even know of any in the Seattle area, we have Fry's but they don't do used parts like MicroCenter does. Back to Craigslist it is :D

I'm current running a Optiplex 3020 with an i3 4130, 4gb ram and 500gb hdd that I got for $70. I then added another 4gb for $15 and swapped the psu to support a 7950 that I got for $90 a couple of years ago. It's a beast for playing Overwatch and WoW Legion, which is all I have time for these days. Love your channel bro, keep it coming.

Your awesome bro...keep up the good work. It's fun watching you find ways to get good deals. Also I'm learning a lot by watching how you pair each compatible computer parts together so that there's a least amount of bottleneck in each rig as possible. Also places you go to bargain hunt, brings back memories, cause I've been there as well... such as Pantip Plaza in Bangkok and MBK center. It's fun riding around in Tuk-tuks weaving through traffics, Ha-ha. I tell you shopping in Bangkok, you better know how to bargain, take couple of aspirins...you gonna need it. I use to get a biggest headache ever, at the end of the day from arguing with them merchants. They love to haggle and they're good at it too, they don't know what 'no means NO!' Ha-ha. It's funny after you finally thought you got a good deal, then in next shop you find the exact same thing that you bought for whole lot cheaper. Ha-ha.
Anyway, I love how you find ways to make use of those older Intel Xeon processors. Yeah, you can find those processors for very cheap but in hind side; I notice those compatible motherboards are pretty expensive, e.i. X58 or X79 mobo. I want to build a Xeon E5-2670 and coupled that with a nice X79 mobo. I've been keeping close eye on eBay or Amazon. It's so weird those Xeon's processors (E5-2670) about like 4 or 5 years ago cost like over a thousand USD. But now you can find them so cheap like around $120 USD or cheaper.
Also here is another good deal, I've been wanting to build. An Extreme i7-3960X Sandybridge-E, you can pick this up for pretty cheap like around $209-235 used. This item also few years ago cost well over a grand. However the mainboard "X79" will cost you around $250 give or take up or down. I guess that's the catch. These processors scored pretty well on Cinabench and Passmark performance test, just as well as Skylake or newer Kabylake's in high end i7 enthusiastic class category.
If I find a reasonably priced MOBO, I'm thinking of building either Xeon E5-2670 or Extreme i7-3960X. Which one would you pick, if you only have one option? just curious...I just wanna pick your brain a little bit and make use of your expert advice.
Sorry for this long comment Bryan:)
Your the best tech review guy that I know of...because you seemed very global, Japan, Thai, etc...plus your home country Aussie.
You really know your stuff and honest...that's why I like watching your UA-cam tech reviews...
Oh BTW...you should go to Seoul Korea and do a bargain hunt there, you'll love it there.Ha-ha:) Have a soju on me...Gumbay! 'cheers mate' keep up the good show!
I'm currently waiting on parts for my Ryzen build from Amazon (Ryzen 1700, MSI x370 mobo, and 16GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000 MHz) coming soon. I'm so excited:) ???Since when did Amazon start charging taxes???
Again I'm so so sorry for my really really long essay like comment...take care mate!

I found someone selling second hand parts from Warner Brothers Games in my area. They had family that worked there and promised me some great stuff. When I arrived, I was not disappointed, at least at first. I was given an Intel DX79T0 LGA 2011 Motherboard, an I7 3930k Hexacore clocked at 3.2-3.8ghz turbo, 8gb of Kingston Value DDR3 1333, and my beautiful baby, a Nvidia Geforce GTX 780 Reference 3gb card that had been installed for a week before the 980tis came out. It still had the plastic dust protector sheet on it. He also threw in a free case. This all was handed to me for $300 flat. Only catch was that he had not tested it. I picked up a Rosewill Hive 750w Semi Modular PSU and grabbed the Ram from my AMD Athlon 2 Dual Core rig and threw it together.
Then came the pain. The motherboard gave me all kinds of errors. From not being able to read the HDD to not posting and just black screening to getting stuck in a recovery loop. I even had to downgrade to 10gb of RAM from 16 total because it just refused to accept some of my DIMMs. I cleaned every contact thoroughly. I replaced the Sata cables, I tested my PSU, RAM, and Processor in separate rigs, and finally just struggled to update the bios. Sometimes it would boot on the first try and sometimes I would have to fight with it for hours, but the payoff was worth it. I ran Bandicam, Pandora, Facebook, and Fallout 4 on Ultra all at once, only hitting a max of 60% CPU load when shit hit the fan in game. And this was while connected to a 1080p 60Hz 42 inch LCD TV. The board worked like a charm once booted.
This motherboard continued to cocktease me clear until two nights ago when I popped it on a test bench for the last time and it booted fine on the first try. I was so excited that I bolted it into my only case and began working on it. It was able to defrag without crashing on reboot. It finally finished it's bios upgrade, etc. Just running like a dream. Then I decided to test my newfound success by a spontaneous restart and ran into the same slew of errors.
I did extensive research on the cost of a new motherboard and I found one at about $200 and the rest of them that are available are about $500. Having a non V3 variant LGA 2011 is a deathtrap in 2016. In my anger, I took my I7 to a local PC shop yesterday that I've done some work for in the past. I was able to pick up an LGA 775 ASUS P5K Deluxe mobo and a 3.0ghz Core 2 Duo in trade. I told them my only stipulation was that if the parts didn't work when tested that I be allowed to get more. I just wanted everything to do with this mobo out of my sight. That extra value made them pretty happy and they said they would be able to make some Christmas money off of it.
Now I'm not one to enjoy destroying things, but I was so mad at this motherboard and the literally days or weeks worth of time I wasted on it only to be constantly let down that I took a screwdriver and a hammer to it. Every workable port, slot, and even some resistors were ripped out or damaged beyond repair and it felt surprisingly good. I'll make about the same on it from the recycling place either way, but this board did not deserve to function any longer. I mounted the pieces of ornamental metal with the Skull Canyon and Intel logos to my case like the head of a trophy animal and it actually looks pretty neat.
I'm still running my GTX 780 and I plan to buy an AMD FX 8350 with the new wraith cooler as soon as my student loans come in. But this was an absolute nightmare. Buy motherboards used only if you can afford to replace them I think. I love Intel, I'm not bashing them, and I've bought used all my life, but some builds can be a money pit if you don't really know what you're getting yourself into.

Yeeees, Brian, you are the man. I love those types of videos, please keep making them. Anytime I am building a pc, I search for some two used parts, I would like to save money on. I usually don´t cheep out on the PSU and the GPU, but I like to buy my motherboard and CPU used, especially nowadays, when there are so many z68, p67 boards and Sandy and Ivy bridge i5s and i7s. (Currently looking for a cheap i7 3770k, but I am tempted to get an i7 2600´k, because, they are cheap as hell, like 130-140euros and those 3770ks go for like 180-200).
P.S.: Keep up the good work :)

Picked up a non-working HP Pavillion 17 laptop with an A4 apu for free at a garage sale. Turns out it had a nasty virus so it was put on a shelf and left. Nothing came with it. Picked up a nos dell power block from craigslist for $5 for it. Ordered the restore disk set from HP for like $30. Plugged it in, put in a USB drive with Dban on it, let it do its thing for a few days. The reinstalled windows 8, drivers etc from the factory discs I got. Upgraded it to windows 10 during the upgrade period for free, add 4gb of ram I got for $15 from a parts store for total of 8gb on it. Had it for about a year now and a nice solid laptop. Not much of a gamer, but does everything else well. See them listing for around $300 on reseller stores, so pretty solid deal I think.

My best bargain was a AU$400 pc I bought in 2012. It was an i5-2400 (at the time Ivy Bridge was only a few months old), so it was still a very current cpu. The rest of the specs were bleh, h61 Mobo, 4gd 1333 ram, 500gb hdd but the kicker was it came with a free 24 inch 1080p monitor! Recent (then) i5 plus 1080p monitor, I couldn't pass it up. I chucked in a $100 Radeon hd7750 (this was before the 650ti, let alone the 750ti) for bus powered graphics. Got by with this for 6 months playing bf3, it managed mid 40s to low 50s after the big bf3 centred 12.11 driver pack, before it was low to mid 40s.

I usually am budget oriented when I'm building friends computers, there was this one deal where I picked up an I5 2500k, some cheap ass MSI motherboard and 4GB of ram for less than 200NZ dollars. the rest of the computer cost a little over double that. with a R9 290, free case, brand new SSD, FSP 750w power supply and an extra 4GB RAM. it was the best bargain pc I have ever picked up for no where near a 1000 dollars.

Hard Off - is a mixed bag really .. my best place is in Akiba called "Shop inverse" it' a junk PC store .. you can pick up some deals if you know what to look for got a i5-2600k system with water cooler for 140USD with no drives .. they do let you check the systems but again no warranty no return .. normally its full of Chinese tourists who are buys 5-6 junk laptops each
Good for the cheaper LGA 1156 socket but be warned you will have to filter a lot of junk to find the gems
Oh and these guys don't want you to film or take pictures there
