I get asked how I make money as a youtuber, and today I detail some of my side hustle, with me completing 4 builds in one afternoon. These are PCs that are put together from either deals or donations, and they help support the channel a lot! Also the new studio is in constuction mode at the moment, so thank you guys a tonne for all the continued support. Really appreciate it, the channel of YES has never felt so good. The content is going to keep flying and I will make do on those promises, even ones that I made a year ago... just need to get into a bigger space to work (which will come very soon). I also talk about the recent Patreon dilemma, which they have backpedalled on, but perhaps the damage was already done? Also near the end I do compare the Rota K401 Case Vs. The Fractal Design Focus G, both cost me around the same, $85 AUD (about $65 USD).
Check out the Fractal Design Focus G here: amzn.to/2Anr1Vb
As for the Rota K401... I got it from MSY, not sure where to buy it from online :(.

move to maker support they are comited to free speech.
Still you and hardware unboxed are some great aussie folks. From America, much respect for your channels because they are legit, great, no bs fanboyism. Exactly the type of hardware channels im looking for. Keep on Keeping on bro.
DDR4 RAM prices is the primary reason I decided not to build a Ryzen 5 1600 system but instead build using a used HP workstation with a Xeon almost equivalent to the R5 1600 instead. Almost $200 for just 16 GB of DDR4 RAM is just too rich for me.
$200 for 16GB of DDR4 RAM should be too rich for anyone. The fact that people are still paying it is just lunacy if you ask me.

I bought an HP Z420 tower. It had a E5-1650 v2, 64 GB of ECC DDR3 1866, a 500 GB HDD with Win 7 on it, Quadro K600 card, 600 watt PSU and Windows 7 Pro COA for $497.85 USD. I have a GTX1060 6GB and a Samsung 850 Evo 256GB SSD from a previous system that I'll be adding to it. Should be a pretty capable system.
thepro08
If your Xeon is the W3570, the E5 I have is about twice the performance (Passmark of about 6,000 for the W3570 vs about 12,000 for my E5). The W3570 is 4 cores, 8 threads and the E5 1650 v2 is 6 cores, 12 threads. My previous system had an i5 2500K which is about equivalent to the W3570. I actually would have not upgraded if I didn't have a 34" 100hz 1440p ultrawide, gaming on that wasn't as smooth as I would have liked. For everything else I did, that level of performance was more than enough.
When doing my search, I found plenty of complete Z420 towers with the 3.2GHz 6c/12t E5-1650 v1 Xeon (Passmark of about 11,000) with 8GB RAM in the $200-300 range. Definitely a good price for only slightly lower performance than what I ended up with. I opted to spend a bit more though for more memory and a slightly faster v2 Xeon (which can use faster RAM too, which I wanted for the already aging DDR3 system). The other z420 I considered had the same v2 Xeon I have, but 8GB of ECC DDR3 1600 for $100 less. Although ECC DDR3 isn't too expensive, it was still about $60-70 for 2 sticks of 8GB 1600 so I just went ahead and got the system with the RAM maxed out. The ECC DDR3 1866 RAM I ended up with is still pretty expensive for whatever reason... they're about $50 for an 8GB stick, extra $100 to get 8 of them was a no-brainer even though that much RAM might be overkill for me right now.
thepro08
you might be better off selling the computer and just building another system, hold on to that RX480 though. even a $200 Z420 with the E5 1650 v1 would be better than trying to upgrade what you already have. for the moment, I don't think going from 8GB to 12 GB would make enough difference to be worth the effort.
thepro08
Just look at the RAM chips you have now and get similar. That's how I would have done it if my RAM wasn't already maxed out.
Your channel is one of my favourites. I hope you can continue to grow so we, the viewers, are treated to the great content that you consistently produce.
Oh god thats a Shaw power supply! i wouldn't even risk bringing it into the house
I threw it in the bin when I bought a used PC. Never use them no matter how desperate you are, unless you like the smell of cooked components :)
Good lesson as to why you should always check the specs yourself.
For anyone wondering what I mean, if that PSU were marketed correctly it'd only be rated at 204W because it can only do 17A over the +12V rail. So you see 775 and think it's a 775W PSU, but it's actually only 204W.
cuz its not 80+ rated
What if we stuck both the Shaw power supplies together? Would we have a shaw nuclear reactor?
Tech YES City even if it didn't work out like that the fireworks would be beautiful
Even your 20 min videos seem like they are 5 min love your vids man!
Bryan you look like your dad, keep up the good work mate and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Britec09 didn't expect to see you here
I am everywere
You should do some malware removal videos again, I miss those
Yeah I may do some more at some point.
Britec09 also we just got our net neutrality taken away from us in the US. Do you pay for extra services because I know you guys never had that
my fav channel in youtube, keep up the good work bro, wish you all the best
Keep grinding Bryan! Hands down my favorite budget tech channel over 100k and I learn from you every day.
My favorite late night channel. Much love from the cold US Northeast!
exactly!
Can't wait for the completion of the studio
The used part hustle yes, I have been on pc flipping for awhile. Its very fun!
Brian, love the vid! Love to see the progress you're making on the new studio! It always takes time to get this sort of thing done, especially when you have to do the work yourself. Went though some tough times last year when my house caught fire and also had major sewer damage... 7 months of remodeling, plumbing, and wiring for the downstairs at $37,000 USD. Paid off the debt 2 weeks ago! I respect you for the continued content production. Hoping this spring I can update a room upstairs for a new studio myself. Cheers mate! All the best!
Tip for cleaning cpu's & heat-sinks. From being a diabetic and having plenty of alcohol pads on hand, I've found them good and cheap for cpu & heat-sink cleaning.
You can get a box of 100 for under $5.00 depending on where you shop..
Dude i love you and your Dadman, You are awesome !
TechYesCity is by far one of the best tech channels on this entire platform.
that rota case actually doesnt look bad
I quite like the look of it honestly. The only question is what is the build quality of it. He said it didn't have much metal so that is the only thing that I question.
I found funny the name Rota, in spanish a "rota" case it means a "broken" case.
Bud, I've found your channel recently and thank you. Been having a blast with your content.
On the carpet?! *screams in Romanian*
Screams in Swedish (dat the static electricity...)
Go watch his static electricity video, if parts didnt die when he did that they're not going too from some carpet haha
Of course, the carpet is on the FLOOR which is close to the GROUND which is how you stay grounded.
Must be anti-static carpet pile
I have built like 3 pcs over my bed, never had any problems with them, lol
Wow... You are looking very enthusiastic and with positive attitude.. CHEERS... Best wishes for the new studio. Keep up the good work dude.........
I LOVE this video! it's so much fun to know all the stuff that the other tech channels don't usually talk about.
Idk why your videos is so satisfying to watch
Yeah the studio is looking good potato master ..
The channel just rocks!!! keep going, I really like this channel, it has more common with me than most other tech channels. Relaxing music, funny builds, VLOGs and so on.
All the best and a happy christmas time from Germany :)
I really like your work Brian, i wish it could support you in some way, sadly i can only disable my adblock. Keep up the great work!!
Hey man, thanks heaps, you won't see me complaining, disabling adblock helps a lot!
Brian, you've inspired ME to do this; to rebuild and refurb 'old' but still good DDR3 PCs into new cases and give them a bit more life. Cheers, mate!
Patreon already apparently rolled that back after receiving lots of backlash
Really cool that you are one of the most honest youtubers!
we heart dadman ^_^ also love the budget builds... more power to your channel Bryan...
I'm glad to see that no matter how old I get, I will end up always building a computer on the floor.
For all the PC build DIY fans out there: when cutting plastic straps excess, use a nail clipper. You are welcome.
digging that Roto case, looks like a fun case to mod...has a cosmos vibe.
I built two desktops for my parents in the Focus G Mini. Great case for the money. May pick up a red one (if they expand the product line). I'M LOOKING AT YOU, JOSH!
Great video, Bryan! I really enjoy watching your videos, as you show off a lot of great budget builds for those who can't go top-end of everything, yet still get great value!
Its interesting that there is a market for that in Aussie land, I've never seen any kind of interest in aftermarket pc's where I'm from! Best of luck Brian!
Such a great channel
Can't wait to see the studio
I also would like to do the same, search for cheap used part, refurbish them and sell to someone who need them. Just due to limited connection, I don’t know where to look for.
I had been selling new parts where I get from local pc parts supplier, but the competition is quite tight in Malaysia as there are so many young entrepreneurs start the same business. Now I stopped selling pc parts online.
But I hope I could resume but buy used, refurbish and sell them off.
Well done mate, keep on your good work. Salute!
I've loved your vids since day one. I am constantly making awesome budget builds similar to you. MUCHO LOVE.
Love the ROTA tower... VERY CLEAN and very cool looking the fractal is nice.. but damn that ROTA !!! so pretty
I'm glad you went back to being yourself YES! Lol never forget the yes.. keep em comin
the hell? didn´t know you were making a studio Bryan, more power to you bro, awesome
I like to spray paint those glossy IO shields flat black when installing them into a black case - gives it a little extra pleasant touch. Love your videos man!
Looking forward to the Tech YES City subscription flood when those studio videos get done! Actually, I kust look forward to all Tech YES City videos. :)
i dont get how SHAW made it into Australia's market. They're ticking time bombs.
swed420 It's a secret terror plot.
Fine for lower end builds I would imagine y
That ROTAR case is very nice! really dig the 4 rgb fans.
No wonder you look so warm... you're living in Austrailia! Keep up the good work, found you because of the Rocket Jump Ninja collaboration :)
MSY sells a bunch of those Rota cases here in Australia. The included rgb fans make it a compelling buy. They look pretty good but Decided tobuy the cougar panzer instead.
Great stuff man, the RGB case looks awesome and never seen that case before.
Keep up the good work. Always a blast watching the video's! Like the Fractal!
can't wait for the studio to be completed (vlog)
The ending was the best man!
Anyone else see the two stacked cases at the start and think it was a reflection?
I'm excited to see your studio, man! :D
Dude, you're living the life I always wanted to live.
Loving the channel man, looking forward to seeing you set up in the new studio. Peace out from Lee Roy
I just watched THE SKETCHIEST pre-roll ad of all time, of a bold middle-aged gentleman, convincing me to work with him on his bitcoin mining farm... Your video better be really good. :D
It was.
Keep up the good work Brian nice builds mate
I like little smile on your face and your contents . keep them coming.
peace
The used PC market is not as dangerous as Best Buy, Newegg, or other system sellers would have you believe. Sometimes we just don't have the space anymore or are looking to upgrade to new hardware. I have sold medium gaming systems for the price I paid just for the case or motherboard alone. I don't have the time to go back and forth on emails or text, so I even go cheaper if you are willing to take the leftover boxes and parts.
If you are looking to make some small hustle like Brian and have time, I recommend checking on craighlist for sellers like me (just make sure you never go to a secluded area no matter how good the deal is).
You should do a video on transplanting a non-standard PC into a standard case.
More vlogs Bro!!
Studio HYPE!!!
Nisco Racing
3:36 Everything that I have ever heard people say about building PC's is :
Don't build a PC on synthetic carpet due to electro static build up and discharge
Best of luck brian, cheers from portugal
I'm imagining a lovely shag pile carpet in the new studio why? for building on of course!!!
Damn. Those skylake machines. That is so a steel.
You are my fav Aussie UA-camr 🙏🔥
Omg at 8:21 The pc is like a beast !!!!!
i saw those two cases and I was like... those thermals better be tested before he says anything else and OF COURSE my man pulls through with the resultsss, ...only a few deg difference too hmmm pretty interesting!
The rota actually looks really nice for being what it is.
That's a bit of money once they sell. That's the thing though right? Once they sell. Even though they're selling more now than before.
Coming from Jamaica... I am Jamaican and I found this funny lol
Fun video. I hope you make big bucks on those pc's. You putting Dadman up to No good, Tisk, Tisk, Tisk. Indeed the fruit does not fall far from the tree! Lol.....Keep grinding mate!
Micro ATX in FullATX Case? ehhhhhh...well thank you for installing the stock cooler the RIGHT WAY! Also who's the guy who sold all that for a 1080? I'd like to meet him too!!!
hmmm new studio huh.... you're doing all right
Lol. I tried to do the used PC part hustle. The problem is I started keeping too many parts to build newer and better computers for myself and my family.
Your "quick & dirty"-method looks better than my "better do it clean"-method
Great video very interesting to see some of your life and not just reviews all the time
I've put up together only 3 builds for friends so far, I'm going to build one more in the following 1-2 months. If only I had the guts to invest in old hardware and put in PCs for sale. *tears* Keep on the good work!
you deserve more subscribers, you have great content.
HAHAHA that ending High quality power!!!!! the Jamaican power is above 9000
that rota case is beautiful. glad I got to see it haha
I like watching kings of restoration. And this channel was the pc version of that. More power and god bless. Can you put a link where i can find your pc’s for sale pls
Keep it up bro! Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
The thumbnails always make me laugh.
Do you ever worry about static electricity when working on carpet? Love the channel, keep up the good work!
Your lucky I used to do the same thing hustle PCS and fix them and sell them but now people would rather just buy a new one from Walmart that won't run a single game then pay a tech money and most of the tech shops that were here in Colorado Springs have now went under
:(
That rota case looks cool might have to pick it up
Im just a poor guy from Serbia... But following this dude this making this gaming PCs because i cant afford one... My PC specs are 2GB Ram,GT210, E3400... I call my PC "The potato god"
LOVE
hope the hard work paid off!
thats amazing. if i didnt have to pay the winter uni session id probably start doing soemthing like this but idk, the canadian dollar is pretty low right now so i dont even know how it would end up.
Doing Christmas builds and upgrades for family members, know how you feel with computers taking up half the house 🤣
i would buy the ROTA, it seems pretty decent for the price
Nice anti-static carpet you got there :)
Hey Brian awesome Video.
Your damn is as Lively as you. God bless both
Ask Santa for a work table, that looks extremely uncomfortable building on the floor,
That Mazda Joke was great :D
in october i bought an old I7 920 with an ASUS x58 mobo and 6gigs of ram for 150$ USD all i had to do was get a HD and i got an old GTX960 FTW2 from my brother for 80$ also i upgraded the processor to a X5670 and its pretty good now and a little more for a mouse and keyboard but i only spent like 350$ or so on my whole computer=)
I'm a simple man. I see a tank and a PC, i click like.
I ordered that exact same motherboard because I needed one that supports DDR3.
Bryan Thanks again for all your work and the Info , great video -- Also First 65 or Older
