Eddie Izzard lost this argument. One can be an immigrant and still want restrictions on immigration...why is that so difficult for people to understand. So if I am a Pakistani...I cherish the chance to come to Britain...but then letting in 20 million Pakistanis into Britain I can see is a bad decision. I myself as an Englishman was an emigrant into France....the French dislike the English because the English have swamped France...I get it...why can't Eddie get it? Even Indians here in the UK can see that there are too many Indians being allowed into the UK...it isn't racism...it is just acknowledging a door that is left open for literally anyone to come through....regardless of effect upon the population.
I dont think he did really. Eddie is very progressive and supports multiculturalism. There is a an argument to be made that the UK was conquered so many times through history that its foundations are built largely on multicultural ideas mixing. Taking a full multicultural approach will evolve and advance a nations identity more than trying to keep it fixed in time with nationalistic ideals. Obviously you have to find a middle ground because you can't fit billions of people on the little land the UK covers. This is why there are the further opposites of the spectrum like Farage and like Eddie. Farage is just wrong because he wants to preserve the UK in a state it was in historically. Its not progressive at all. Eddie isn't wrong as such but maybe too far into idealism because there has to be some fundamental level of immigration control to stop overcrowding and draining of resources in just 1 small area of the world.
..Taking an unrestricted 'multi-cultural' approach is a disater waiting to happen ...at least for the native indigenous population ...they will be wiped out in 40 years !!!!!

You say that "Immigrants make a net contribution to GDP" - I take it you are referring to the propaganda 'report' devised by the UCL a few years ago?
What they omit (from their headlines at least) is that whilst it's apparently true that all immigration (this of course includes all of the very highly skilled migrants from developed countries) does make a small net contribution, you should actually look at whether they make more, or less, in percentage terms than the rest of the country.
If they generate less than the rest, then they are dragging down the GDP per capita, and therefore reducing the per capita funding available for all of our infrastructure needs.

Every time they bring a comedian on to demonise Nigel Farage, they make him look better. As for Eddie Izzard, I used to like him, but as Nigel said, he acted childish and ignorant in this. I agree that his views and his ways of expressing them mark him out as a consummate pillock. However, he does actually have some claims to intellectuality. I used to be friends with his ex-girlfriend, who is a Professor of Philosophy

Farage isn't an immigrant. However, his wife is German. So, what Izzard's argument amounts to is that if you are married to an immigrant, then you ought not to state the case for controlling immigration. In other words, since I am myself an immigrant, I'm expected to ignore the consequences of uncontrolled immigration into an already overcrowded country. That's crazy, as I think you agree.
You should all listen to the man who is dressing like a woman with make up on. Surely this transvestite is the voice of sanity
I'm sure many transvestites are repositories of sound good sense. This one isn't.
nah....most are just screaming exhibitionists....like Izzard.
You shouldn't judge a person on appearance, you should judge them based on their arguments and general personality!
Kopite4life12 Would you say the same of a panellist dressed as an SS officer? what about when appearance betrays exhibitionism and neediness for attention as in the case of this gentleman?
tigerarmyrule This man is a transvestite, or believes himself to be dual gender. You may not like this or even be sickened by it, but we must accept others as they are. If you dress as a SS officer, you are either doing it for a joke or you buy into a sickening ideology. A completely irrelevant point!
And they keep coming, and coming, and our country is devalued in services, housing, roads, schools etc etc

Actually turned out to be very funny and articulate and really pushed Farage on his bizarro hypocrisy about immigration considering his own roots, and the vagueness of what they were wanting from Brexit.
@@shaddaboop7998 Maybe you ought to look at what this lefty ideology has done to Sweden. 20 years ago, they voted in a left wing government that promised to open up the borders and ‘strengthen diversity’ 🙄. Yes, that may be true, but they also strengthened crime to an extent where it is renowned as one of the more dangerous of the European countries. This is just one of many examples of the flaws of letting anybody in, similar to the Albanian drug organisations in the UK that are shipping people over here.
Cannot believe you imbeciles actually believe this boat load of toss, you might want to look in the mirror.
@@yanapostrophe4331 Sweden was a failure of integration, not of immigration. They accepted more refugees than they could accommodate with the idea that capacity could be expanded later - except it never was. Immigrants were given housing in areas that became ghettos with no job opportunities.
In the UK there is currently a huge demand for labour as we've now booted out most seasonal and migrant labourers (migrant means they live here but do not intend to do so forever and send money to families abroad, these guys kept our logistics sector afloat almost entirely with Poles and Romanians).
Brexit has been an all-round disaster.
Farage's main attack line was that we could stay in the single market but restrict the movement of people, thus keeping the benefits of the EU while getting rid of the perceived downsides. Obviously this was never going to happen and it makes no sense as to why the EU would ever allow such a system with anyone. Instead we're now enslaved to the EU, by far and large are biggest trade partner, and don't have any influence in its policymaking anymore. We have severe labour shortages that can't be fulfilled by indigenous workers due to our horrific cost of living crisis and rampant inflation, caused by over a decade of cavaliering Tory mismanagement. Brexit compounded these issues. It's just a spiral of awfulness that gets worse and worse all the time.
@@shaddaboop7998 I would agree, the Tory’s have absolutely screwed over the British public on what WE voted for. Therefore, in this upcoming election, all we need is someone like Farage to sort out this country, not Jimmy Saville’s solicitor.

I love Eddie but yeah this clearly isn't his finest moment. Unfortunately this is a small sample of why the remain campaign failed.
