    Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video, I have been looking at a 60liter exactly as the 3 day pack that you reviewed which comes with the additional belt and three additional packs. I don’t know much about the new back pack so you educated me and I greatly appreciate it.

    Wunderbaaaaar! I knew I had to watch this when I saw you surrounded by a bunch of bags... Usually you slap the hell out of them bags when you're doing a 1 vs 1 comparison. More than 2 bags is likely to end up in a Slapfest! 😂 I was not dissapoint. 😎

    i have a miltec 20ltr army patrol backpack.
    it costs 30 euros and for this price it is great.
    when u decide to buy a tactical backpack for every day use or for hiking, hunting, traveling etc. you will buy the one that fits u.
    of course the dragon egg and 5.11 are great bugs but they are very expensive. always think why do u need the backpack.
    what i mean is that i bought the bag for traveling. i didnt want something more expensive with better quality cause because for my use it would be a big waste of money. maybe later on i will buy an expensive one if and only i need it.
    anyway the miltec is a good german company with reasonable prices. it is something beetween mfh and pentagon.
    both good and sometimes bad. but if u choose the right product u will be satisfied.
    personally i recomend it.
    thanks for reading.
    and make the right choice :)

    5 Reasons why backpackers dislike "Tactical" style packs:
    1-Weight. The 1000D Nylon is very heavy compared to the lightweight nylon of hiking packs.
    2-Structure. The lack of a frame makes it a poor choice for multi-day treks where you carry serious weight.
    3-Bad air flow. These bags simply do not have adequate back ventilation for serious hiking.
    4-Heavy weight rides poorly in the pack. The packs aren't designed to distribute weight across your body properly.
    5-Price. Big brand name bags cost the same amount as high end hiking packs like Osprey, Fjallraven, etc. and simply cannot compare to them.
    I like "tactical" style bags, and use them often. Don't get me wrong. This is just for anyone wondering why not everyone uses them. Cheers.

      Everything you wrote is certainly true but I'll take the "tactical" style any day over a more traditional backpack. I have friends that prefer more traditional backpacks and they can't hold up to what I carry or how long my packs lasts. All packs certainly have their place but only the tactical style packs can handle what I do and what I carry.

    What are the other brands you mentioned that are priced over 100 dollars? I'm looking for an EDC and want to look into what's available before I make a final decision. I was looking at the 5.11 12 or 24 as 5.11 seemed to be the only brand I could readily find. I stumbled on your channel by chance so would like to know what other brands apart from Maxpedition, 5.11, etc to look into.

    • @GearReviewDepot
      @GearReviewDepot  8 років тому

      Diddier Newman Other than the brands you mentioned I'd also look into Vanquest, Direct Action and First Tactical. Some budget brands with slightly less quality but still worth their price points are Death Dealer Tactical, Fox Outdoors and Onetigris. You can't go wrong with Vanquest or 5.11 - those are the two brands I personally use most often. I have two edc bags I alternate between, the RUSH12 and the Mobius by Vanquest.

    • @GearReviewDepot
      @GearReviewDepot  7 років тому

      I'm a big fan of 5.11 packs, I have almost all of them and they are great quality and the prices are pretty fair for what you get. Personally the 72 would be prefect for hat you need. It's a big pack and has some weight to it empty but it'll hold a lot of gear and it's really made well. If I had more money to spend you can't go wrong with a pack from TAD (Triple Aught Design) or Eberlestock, they are absolutely amazing packs and are very well designed and are very strong but they are also rather expansive. Certainly worth every penny. 5.11 packs aren't very far behind but they are much cheaper in price. I guarantee you'd be very happy with a 5.11 pack and you'd have it for a VERY long time.

    what about water resistant bags i need a bag that has some decent protection from rain when you have electronics in it.

    • @GearReviewDepot
      @GearReviewDepot  9 років тому

      +Matthew Knight Most of the "top" brands have some sort of water resistance to them, some maybe a bit better than others. None of them in my opinion will last very long in a down pour or sunk in a lake for any length of time but they all will withstand some light rain or drizzle if need be. If your going to have electronics in your pack I would suggest placing them in bags or some sort of water proof sack before putting them in your pack. I carry plastic bags, large and small for this very reason just in case I'm out and get stuck in rain.

    Try looking at packs that use 1000D where its needed but 500D or 340D where it isn’t. That will save as much as half the weight of the pack. Making the pack far more comfortable to wear for extended periods.

      Not exactly sure what constitutes a big guy but I'm 5'11" and 250lbs right now and the 72 fits me perfect, no back pain and definitely no neck pain. I've heard people complain that the shoulder harness (Yoke System) touches or rubs the back of their neck, I have to be honest, it's no where near the back of my neck. The only thing I can guess is that they have the pack really tight and sitting high, that's not how I wear my backpacks.

    can you recommend something that would be good for riding a atv maybe for a 1-2 day trip max but that i can still maybe use on a average hike ( mind you i do have a regular hydration pack that is usually go for a knife some snacks water and a small first aid kit)
    the real catch with the atv is i cant load the racks with 2 much since i have aread seat so the sleeping bag and tent and a bit of extra feul are in the front the rest is probably on me

    • @GearReviewDepot
      @GearReviewDepot  9 років тому

      +Remy Paquin I would go with a 3 day pack personally because you at least have the option of loading it all the way or just a few things for a day hike. I just do day hikes myself but because I carry so much gear (camera, tripod, audio, products I'm making videos of as well as my own other crap). The benefit to a 3 day pack you can load it as much as you need. The RUSH72 is a great pack, it's the one I use in most of my videos. Vanquest has some really nice gear, check out the IBEX30 or the smaller IBEX20, both great bags for hiking and/or overnight trips. If you want to spend a little less then check out some packs from FOX outdoors, they have some really nice packs for a steal. The Gray/Green 3 day pack in this video is a FOX Outdoor brand, I hear it's selling now for about $40 or so on amazon, it's called The Operator Pack.

    Hello Sir. I have an addiction to packs as well. I have one for almost every occasion. Right now I have the rush 12 and 24. I have the rush 24 in multicam to use in more military duty. Its a great gear bag. I dont carry it alot when in full armor, but it carries my extra gear and is a good vehicle bag. I don't like the Dragon Egg as much and Im not to fond of helikon tex either. Bags feel cheap and lacking features. Dragon Egg is comfortable and has good back airflow, the layout is just awful. But anyway keep up the good work, love your videos.

      +Dawn Pennyfeather I would most likely go with a more traditional long distance backpack that is far lighter and can still hold lots of gear, the issue is I don't think the size of the pack you need is allowed as a carry on, it's been 18 years or so since I've flown anywhere so I don't know what is or isn't allowed. The packs I like are nice and very strong but not very light, for what you're going to do I'd want a "normal" Mountain hardware or Northface pack, still great packs but far lighter.

      +alex wewe I'd look into the Vanquest line, they make some really nice gear. They also have a very well made messenger bag that would hold that nicely.

    Hi, fabulous review and info. Would like to get your opinion if I may. I'm considering a Rush 24 for a 3 day weekend type of trip (i.e. pack some clothes, essentials and such). Do you think that will suffice, or do I need to go with the 5.11 R72, or something else? I sort of want this bag to double as a short term B.O.B. AND a 3 day weekender travel bag. Thx.

      George The 24 could be used on a 3 day depending on what you're bringing and how well you pack. You'll most definitely have to strap some of your gear to the outside of the pack. If the 72 is an option I'd go with that, it certainly has the room and could have some left over. I'd rather not need all the room but have it in case I need it. Both the 24 and the 72 would perform well as a bug out bag just in case.

      I see what you mean. Yes, maybe could get the 72 for those types of trips, and then maybe go with the 12 for EDC as I believe you do.

      George Absolutely. I have all three. The 12 is my edc pack, the 24 is my day hike pack and the 72 is for multiple day trips or when I'm going on a hike and have to bring LOTS of gear.
