It is just incredible. We’re in the middle of one of the greatest rivalries in cycling history between two absolute gentlemen. Excellent competition, Jonas really shut up Remco’s silly complaints from the other day.
Makes no sense to me, that UAE makes a stage extra hard, after Visma cracked Tadeji last year by making it extra hard and Jonas said the last days in an interview that it suits him when stages are ridden extra hard.
Pogi should stop trying to extend the gap and try to survive the mountains. Visma doesnt have the climbers to make it super hard for Vinge and drop Pogacar. I dont think Jorgenson could even drop Yates, Almeida or Ayuso, he hasnt looked spectacular.
@@Local_idiot-u8h I think we all can see that this would be the move, take maybe a bit of time on Evenepoel, but dont challenge Vingegaard but Pogi great flaw is his race IQ... @@Pawskmaybe they also wanted to see how everybody else was feeling. They are the only team that can control in the mountains. See where the teammates of Remco, Roglic and JV are. Can they react? Are they feeling good? I thonk its good to know for 14/15
Stage 14 on Sat Jul 13 has two HC climbs. It’s Vingegaard’s one and only chance to catch Tadej. He has to drop him on the second HC climb, or this TDF is over. Go Jonas !!
He knows what he can expect from Vingegaard. Evenepoel is more of an unknow for him. Also evenepoel is better at TT's and is willing to take more risks than vingegaard which can catch pogi off guard.
I actually think I know why Vingegaard look back. Look at the situation a few times. He is looking at Yates because when pogi attacked, Yates job was done, and he swung out to the right, but in doing so he got in the way of Vingegaard's response, making him have to curve around Yates. I am not certain of this, but it looks like he was annoyed with Yates for a moment, because of it. And honestly I would have been too x3 Does anyone agree with me? Or am I misreading the situation? 3:50
I think UAE in hindsight probably realise that they should have got Majka instead of Ayuso as their domestique. He would have not only stuck with Pog on these climbs, but also been a calming influence.
Massif Central is an area easily overlooked. Great to see the Tour using the Puy Mary over the past few years. The climbs are shorter than Alps or Pyrenees but tough - especially that side of the Puy Mary. The Col de Pertus is short but punishing and the descents are narrow and technical. Brilliant to see the stage raced in this way.
Tadej wants to gain as much time as possible before approaching the stages with long climbs. He knew that Jonas could drop and gain a lot of time on him.
In the last ITT you can get a minute. That is just full on climbing and descending way harder than the last one. But that will suit Pogi. But there are still 4 high mountains left and pogi didn’t look fresh in the end. Will be interesting who has the legs in a week 3
I mean, what a stage; I was shouting at the TV when Pog attacked. Jonas did his classic pacing to bring it back then Pogi smashed the descent. Jonas looked like he went deep to bridge the gap on the penultimate climb while Pogi seemed to crack. In many ways, Pog is lucky that Jonas only won the stage as I think there was a chance he could have lost a lot of time today. My overall feeling is UAE need to let the race come to them rather than going on the attack. Consolidate the lead, let Visma do the work and wait for the right time to go. Of course, easy to say that as an armchair fan with hindsight 😀
You could see Pog was tiring and Vingegard seemed to be getting stronger. UAE have lit up the first 1/3 of the tour to try and eliminate the other 3. The gaps are still pretty small considering the amount of climbing they’ve done. I fear for Pog when they hit the big mountains as Vingergard seems to be improving by the day and Pog whilst better than 99% of the peloton, has shown a tiny crack today. It may be a one off. Whatever happens this tdf has been outstanding.
Pogacar needs to put pressure on Vingegaard and let him pull when they are in front together. These pulls at the end made no sense and were counterproductive in every way. Pogi would have won this one if it wasn't for these pulls on the last false flat. When you want to act like you are stronger you get beaten in the end.
Pogacar cannot dig as deep or maintain the same pace for as long as Jonas can. When Pogi goes empty, he's dropped for good. That is a MAJOR disadvantage in the high mountains like the four upcoming stages.
So on Pertus Vingegaard did 12:00 (7.25 ᵉW/Kg) Pogačar did 12:30 (6.93 ᵉW/Kg) Evenepoel and Roglič did 12:48 (6.65 - 6.67 ᵉW/Kg) Landa and Kelderman did 13:06 (6.48 ᵉW/Kg) Gall did 13:08 (6.50 ᵉW/Kg) Rodriguez with the two UAEs (Yates and Almeida) did 13:30 (6.22 ᵉW/Kg). This is such an outlier that if I'm Pogačar I'd almost suspect mechanical doping like a ~25w engine would do, no wonder he was speechless Vingegaard caught up so fast after the race. But 2 superstars, great stage, fantastic rivalry.
The Tadej Pogacar fan boys at Flemish Sporza tv always talk about Tadej having a problem with not eating or drinking enough or having a heat stroke when somebody beats him or matches him. Will be interesting to see how they react when the one doing it is Remco.

포기가 스프린트를 시작한 것과 동시에 예이츠가 페달을 늦추었어요. 의도적인 방해입니다.
@DKSprocket definitely doesn't seem intentional, just rough timing.
@scottaaron382 it is intentional. Its what ang good leadout man does. Become an obstacle
Good summary M. Rouge.
Merci. 👍🏻
It is just incredible. We’re in the middle of one of the greatest rivalries in cycling history between two absolute gentlemen. Excellent competition, Jonas really shut up Remco’s silly complaints from the other day.
Great stage! Big attack and response by Jonas. “Ballsy” ride by Jonas and Tadej!
Makes no sense to me, that UAE makes a stage extra hard, after Visma cracked Tadeji last year by making it extra hard and Jonas said the last days in an interview that it suits him when stages are ridden extra hard.
What’s there to get? uae don’t have the strategy
He just wants to go full speed at all times for 3 weeks, and honestly if he had any other opponent than vingegaard it would work, but clearly it doesnt here.
So you re saying uae should do it extra easy?
@@Pawskmaybe they also wanted to see how everybody else was feeling. They are the only team that can control in the mountains. See where the teammates of Remco, Roglic and JV are. Can they react? Are they feeling good? I thonk its good to know for 14/15
thanks LR, probably the best commentary there is.
Your summaries are absolute gold.
What a stage.
This man has aura🔥🔥
Stage 14 on Sat Jul 13 has two HC climbs. It’s Vingegaard’s one and only chance to catch Tadej. He has to drop him on the second HC climb, or this TDF is over. Go Jonas !!
wonderful stage!
Pogacar said that he feared Evenepoel more than Vingegaard. Not very good judgement.
He knows what he can expect from Vingegaard. Evenepoel is more of an unknow for him. Also evenepoel is better at TT's and is willing to take more risks than vingegaard which can catch pogi off guard.
@@SamDePrez is evenepoel better at mountain TTs like the stage 21? Remember last year?
@@SamDePrez Where can Remco catch Pogi off guard? In the next hard mountain stages?
I actually think I know why Vingegaard look back. Look at the situation a few times. He is looking at Yates because when pogi attacked, Yates job was done, and he swung out to the right, but in doing so he got in the way of Vingegaard's response, making him have to curve around Yates.
I am not certain of this, but it looks like he was annoyed with Yates for a moment, because of it. And honestly I would have been too x3
Does anyone agree with me? Or am I misreading the situation? 3:50
Spot on.
I agree
I think UAE in hindsight probably realise that they should have got Majka instead of Ayuso as their domestique. He would have not only stuck with Pog on these climbs, but also been a calming influence.
Massif Central is an area easily overlooked. Great to see the Tour using the Puy Mary over the past few years. The climbs are shorter than Alps or Pyrenees but tough - especially that side of the Puy Mary. The Col de Pertus is short but punishing and the descents are narrow and technical. Brilliant to see the stage raced in this way.
Imagine what would have happened if the climb was like 100 meters longer…
Jonas gets the wheel, descends with Pogi, and maybe takes big time today
Broe here asking the really important questions, what does life means? 😂
Time does not exist.
Brilliant analysis 🎉
Wauw. Vingegaard ❤
I have so much sympathy for both riders.
We‘re so back
OK, as big a Tadej fanboy as I am, I now think Vingo has it in the bag. If only Tadej would race as strategically as him!
Jonas cleverly lets Pogačar power himself out.
predictably
Pogacar attacked too early
So he was tired
While Vingegard had some help in terms of Roglic
Amazing race
Tadej wants to gain as much time as possible before approaching the stages with long climbs. He knew that Jonas could drop and gain a lot of time on him.
I've noticed people talking of unassailable leads... Didn't Jonas take 6 mins on Pogi in a single stage last year?
Ten+ minutes is unassailable. Everything else is still game on, and we haven't even gotten to Jonas's terrain yet
In the last ITT you can get a minute. That is just full on climbing and descending way harder than the last one. But that will suit Pogi. But there are still 4 high mountains left and pogi didn’t look fresh in the end. Will be interesting who has the legs in a week 3
@@Infiltator2Yeah right.
It will suit Pogi as well as the ITT of last year
Last year on stage 17, JV took 5:48 (+ 2'' bonus) on TP
@Infiltator2 3rd week itt with a climb. JV territory everyday of the year. JV is a third week specialist due to his insane VO2 and recovery abilities
Jonas beating prime Pog in a sprint, unbelievable!
Poggy was dead after Vinny chased him up the mountain! Masterpiece!
Attacked too early and underestimated Jonas
strong mental from vingegaard
The 3 k rule was put into use because the last descent was wet.
This rule has change for next year. If a rider crash without anyone's fault they won't benefit from the 3k rule.
Thank you Jonas
Great analysis !!!!
Poggy sat on the sprint. Fatigue is kicking in
Saya suka vingegaard. Seorang juara yang rendah hati. Sulit mencari kombinasi seperti itu.
Excelente video 👏🏼
You could see Pog was tiring and Vingegard seemed to be getting stronger. UAE have lit up the first 1/3 of the tour to try and eliminate the other 3. The gaps are still pretty small considering the amount of climbing they’ve done. I fear for Pog when they hit the big mountains as Vingergard seems to be improving by the day and Pog whilst better than 99% of the peloton, has shown a tiny crack today. It may be a one off. Whatever happens this tdf has been outstanding.
Jonas never cracks, he'll lose time but only a few seconds here or there. The fear is that if Pogi cracks, he'll lose minutes.
@@suziederkins3310 🤣🤣🤣 besides this TDF he never crack but he lost minutes and not seconds as you expected.
That is a MAJOR disadvantage in the high mountains like the four upcoming stages.
but he has an insane team he could and should use to his advantage. so exited about the upcoming stages!
True. Visma doesnt have the team this year to make it hard for him in the mountains so i think pogi will do pretty well@@doppelpunkt
Vingegaard trailing Pog when he grabs a bidon is that killer winner instict
Dude this is the best recap of whats gonna go down as a legendary stage
So on Pertus
Vingegaard did 12:00 (7.25 ᵉW/Kg)
Pogačar did 12:30 (6.93 ᵉW/Kg)
Evenepoel and Roglič did 12:48 (6.65 - 6.67 ᵉW/Kg)
Landa and Kelderman did 13:06 (6.48 ᵉW/Kg)
Gall did 13:08 (6.50 ᵉW/Kg)
Rodriguez with the two UAEs (Yates and Almeida) did 13:30 (6.22 ᵉW/Kg).
This is such an outlier that if I'm Pogačar I'd almost suspect mechanical doping like a ~25w engine would do, no wonder he was speechless Vingegaard caught up so fast after the race.
But 2 superstars, great stage, fantastic rivalry.
Incredible duel
Ahh, those wise words at the end!😂
And a "ciao" cut off 😱
The Tadej Pogacar fan boys at Flemish Sporza tv always talk about Tadej having a problem with not eating or drinking enough or having a heat stroke when somebody beats him or matches him. Will be interesting to see how they react when the one doing it is Remco.
