It seems very inspired by Grundy's friendship with Jade, the daughter of the original Green Lantern Alan Scott. He was an antihero during that time and followed Jade like a lovestruck puppy. Highly recommend Infinity Inc. Just for Grundy and Jade alone.
Grundy is much like Frankenstein's creation in that he realises the innocence of youth. Grundy has often (not always) shyed away from harming children, even being more interested in watching kids at play than fighting a battle in a couple fo occasions. Grundy is a monster, a brute and a walking catastrophe yet, there's a very dim spark of humanity in there somewhere in the darkness. It shines at times.
His motives and nature are all over the place. He's the best guy with who to go literally any direction as long as he's kind of a bad guy and/or monster.

I always wondered why Superman didn't just dismember him with laser eyes but ofc pg-13 Superman doesn't kill. I didn't know if he was a zombie, golem, or an abomination like Frankenstein's monster. Like a big punching bag Superman couldn't stop. I really enjoyed his backstory, redemption & then final death. I don't normally enjoy 'beautiful corpse' characters (those that die so other characters can have more emotional motivation) but Grundy was a very cool choice for bloody Hawk Girl, of all people. He apparently came before Hulk. Strange but cool.

The missing element was fire and so Grundy was born instead of that generations swamp thing. Thisis based upon the story that the Parliment of Trees was attempting to produce the correct Swamp Thing, Alec Holland, to ensure their own existence since Holland was both the 1st and last Elemental of the Parliment known as 'Duality".
In regards Solomon Grundy is quite on some lines of immortality. But if his soul is found and brung back to him, he becomes vulnerable or in some matter. I would probably say this, *he is* technically the only character who could win against Hulk or maybe a crossover to Invincible comic could surpass Omni-Man.

The awful hulk like version of Solomon grundy is a modern version of the character so the hulk was not based on Grundy. Grundy is a zombie so he should not be muscled at all. His strength is supernatural. His original origin of a crook murdered and his body thrown in the swamp is the best. Another example of a character that didnt need a deeper origin.
He also has a small cameo in The Batman movie The Long Halloween part 1.. it was short but a pretty funny scene which is why I noticed it missing. Batman and Grundy have a weird relationship.

I think he was the stranger Grundy made a deal with in his original backstory but when he was remade that part of the story was removed
