  • Made some big changes for the 2020 season on my boat electronics setup! Here’s a look as to why I chose multiple brands and what my plan is! Hopefully by the end of the year I can confidently say what units are worth the investment and what the pros and cons are to each one so you can go in and confidently purchase the correct unit for your fishing needs.
    Please know that I am not claiming to be any expert on these units. I just want to share my experience with you guys as I attempt to find out what the perfect setup is to help catch more bass.
    Units on my boat:
    hummingbird, Garmin, Lowrance.

    Side Imaging, Down Imaging, Panoptix, 360, sonar

    How are you mounting all those different transducers on your boat, if you could share a pic of that would be great.

    you said you can "see further side imaging on the Lowrance" well yea since you're on 455khz on the Lowrance and on MEGA imaging on Humminbird lol change your Humminbird to 455khz and see how much further you can see! The Higher the frequency the shorter the range and more detail your picture will be and vice versa with the lower frequency the less detail but further you can see!

  • @mattwfishing
    @mattwfishing 4 роки тому +1

    If you have multiple side/down imaging units they will not interfere as long as they are not on the same frequencies, prob why he’s running 455 on Lowrance and Mega on Humminbird, trying to get 2 diff perspectives of the same image. Could he run another hummingbird on 455? Yes. But Waypoint management on a humminbird helix and naming waypoints is a pain in the butt and takes 10x longer.

  • @jasonvogelsang5366
    @jasonvogelsang5366 4 роки тому +6

    Change the bird from mega to 455 mhz and it will see just as far as the lowrance. The mega freq is really only good for out to 100' and down to 30'.

    Great stuff Jacob. I run Garmin and lowrance. Feel that lowrance is falling behind. No mega and livescope is way better. Navionics isn’t as good as lakemaster.

    I am running the exact same style. Hummingbird helix 9 at the helm and lowrance elite 9 at the bow. I can't share way points but I can throw a marker boay and then get it on my lowrance once I start fishing a spot!!

    At 4:30 you're talking about the differences in the sidescan. The reason the lowrance can see further is because its pinging in a lower frequency. You can move through your frequencys easily to 455khz and 800khz and the mega range simply by hitting that check mark on your humminbird. The lower the frequency the further you can see but with less detail.

    In order to see further on the Hummingbird it needs to be set @455 but I'm pretty sure u know that.

    you can zoom on humminbird just move the cursor then hit the + button andmove it to where you want. If you are wanting to scan in zoom mode there is an actual screen for it, where it will show regular then the zoomed versions of 2d

  • @richardmajewski4104
    @richardmajewski4104 4 роки тому +1

    To zoom in and out on the active screen just use the + or - key on the Humminbird. You just have to make sure the when in split screen, the screen you want to change is set to be the active screen ahead of time. Hope this helps.

    Do you have any issues or how do you deal with any interference between on the units/transducers?

  • @granthemze1026
    @granthemze1026 4 роки тому +1

    To zoom in on the bird, go to the menu and make sure your active pane is the side imaging pane. Then just hit the + button while looking at the screen and it will zoom in just like you did on your Lowrance.

    As other's have mentioned there is a slpit screen for zooming in on 2d and down imaging for humminbird, but you can also go in and adjust the upper limit of the unit. So if you're in 25 and you only want to see the bottom and 5ft above, set the lower to say 30ft and the upper to 20ft and you'll be zoomed in, works the same if you need it in 60+ ft. Few more button taps than lowrance.

    What I want to know or would love to see a video on is, if you Mark a spot or waypoint on humminbird side imaging say 40 feet off to one side, how do you set up on it offshore? You were saying you used the Lowrance point one to line up on stuff but how do you use your heading/course Ext line/ range rings when you may have a waypoint on a hummingbird?

    Hi Jacob, would love to see a picture of both transducers mounted on back transom, I run 2 Raymarine Axiom 12s I want to run dual setup with 2 Humminbird Solix 12 with mega 360 on bow, just curious how far apart (wide) both back transducers are so they dont interfer on signal. Thanks Cliff

  • @apofishing7862
    @apofishing7862 4 роки тому

    having on all those units should let you have a great advantage over other anglers this year, because each of those brands has there strengths like you said in the video the Lowrance has the distance and the Humminbird has the crisp mega imaging. Having these two units will help you see structure and possibly see the fish in the structure. I know you are testing these units out to see which units are worth the money, but this strategy of having multiple different units will help with tournaments. you should have this setup next year.

    At 7:30 your talking about zoom. I dont believe you can zoom the whole page but if you use the d pad you can move the cursor of a specific spot and hit the plus sign and it will zoom in on that area, the more times you hit plus the more it zooms in, minus zooms out. Also you can move that cursor in both side and down imaging the an area and hit mark and it will populate that exact spot on your map.

  • @MrLapin-LL

    Wow! That is in fact SUPER exciting!! Once you are paid to use a product, your "honest" opinion is kind of... shaky. To have such an elite angler (Jacob is the man right now!) running the 3 major fishfinder brands on is boat is an AMAZING opportunity for us, mortals bass geeks!! Jacob, I'm really excited to see what you will tell us along this new season about your electronics! Good luck (pff! You don't need luck, you have talent!) for this new season.
    Btw, I'm running an "old" Lowrance Elite 5 at bow (on my trolling motor) that I love (such a clear/crisp image on 2D!), and a Garmin EchoMap Plus at console (like it but SideVu suck big time, or maybe I'm the problem...?). I'm already considering selling my EchoMap Plus for a better Side Scan...

    if change your frequency settings on your hummingbird from Mega Imaging to 800 MHz you can see farther on your side imaging, You will lose some slight detail but will gain further imaging.

  • @coleallen8557

    move cursor over to your spot and hit + button to zoom. i think.

  • @shawnscoggins6001
    @shawnscoggins6001 4 роки тому

    So the reason the Lowrance has a wider range over the Humminbird Mega is because of the frequency used. 800khz is stronger out to distance than the 1.25khz of the mega imaging. If you changed the bird to 800 khz or even 400khz it would do the same out to distance. And yes you can change the frequencies of the bird. Being a active Solix user and having used Helix also the Solix is day and night better than Helix.
