This was a great video about whitening plastic. Some plastics naturally yellow with age and sunlight. A lot of the yellowing can also be caused by smoking and tobacco use near these machines. I have also found that any plastics that can go on the top rack of the dishwasher and use very hot water with a chlorine cleaning agent will also do the trick in about the time it takes to run one load of dishes. Aprox 1 hour. The heat with the cleaning agent seems to be the activator in both processes.
Thank you for your comment! I'm glad to hear this technique worked well on your Apple - that's really cool! I watched so many videos but never expected it to work so well. 😀
Thanks, please, where I can find the 3D patterns for the needle holder? Thanks all your videos are awesome! I am a beginner and all of them are great help!! 😊
I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying the videos and finding them helpful! 😊 When you mention the "needle holder," are you referring to the bowls or the connecting piece? All the available 3D parts can be found on Thingiverse: www.thingiverse.com/search?q=Passap&page=1
One of the early projects I did when I got my 3d printer, was to print some eyelets, and some of the needle choosing combs. I really like the one from, 'Bad Betty'. I totally see your point about being able to print replacements, if the cleaning experiment doesn't go well, sometimes thats what gives me the courage to try something that looks risky. 😊
Hi Diane! It's been a while-so happy to see your comment! 😊 I totally agree with you. I had read that peroxide could make the plastic brittle, so I felt a lot better knowing I had a 3D model for the bowls, just in case something went wrong. Thankfully, the peroxide didn’t cause any issues with the plastic, so all went well! Also, thanks for suggesting the selecting combs. I started designing a few variations but never got around to finishing them, so I'm still using the original one that came with the machine.
@@ArtOfClay I was planning to make a couple different combs, but when I saw that there was already one designed with the 1 / 2 needles, why redesign the wheel. Ha ha ha....
Happy 4th of July, friends! 🎆

Thank you for sharing your dishwasher method! It's a great tip, and I'll definitely try it the next time I have something that needs whitening. ❤
Another awesome video! I’ve done this on my vintage Apple II e and it worked pretty well. Excited for the next one ☺️

Good idea!! I have some unused peroxide, so I know what to do with it now!!
Good luck with the experiment - I hope it turns out great! Feel free to share how it goes! 😀

You're absolutely right! I started making them only as a way to learn how FreeCAD works. I didn’t realize there were already designs out there.
