We bought a Rural King RK37 tractor for our farm!

  • A year ago we bought our first tractor, it was an old early 60s model John Deere 2010. It worked well for the year we owned it, but we soon found out we needed a tractor with a front end loader. Since buying our first tractor, we have downsized our hay mower from a 9 foot disc mower down to a 7 foot sicklebar mower, so we didn’t need a huge tractor. This RK 37 is 37 hp, has an air-conditioned cab, and we also got the fork lift attachment for the front for moving hay, pallets, fencing, etc.
    When we got home, our children were so excited to see it and they wanted to all go for a ride in it. They were just as excited as daddy was! I’m so thankful our children like being outdoors and living on a farm. ♥️

    Buying 30 acre family farm in a couple weeks. Deciding on 37 and 55hp. This looks like a good tractor

    The "Crew" is realy glad daddy got this new rig. Mom even got in & cruzzed around--- just goes to show that a 12×12 is no problem from the get-go. I have the same exact brush cutter 6' flex-link, have'nt used it yet--l think it's way ahead of it's time. A set of pallet forks is going to be invaluable---should be standard equipment! Looked at your RK37 but settled on a Massey-Ferguson 1736 power shuttle shift, ROPs model, a slighly bigger (400 lbs); a lighter loader life capacity by 20%, but higher 3 point lift 25% as it a bigger tractor. Started off with the industrial R-4 tires. My friend liked my 1736 so much he bought one with R-1ag tires. We swaped tires ( he does landscaping), but both series are adjustable for a narrow or wider stance; quite a bit for the rears. If you have almost level ground the R-4s are a better choice but ,non-adjustable. Congratultions on your choice of the GEAR DRIVE, no el-cheepo hydro-slack-o-howl-o-slip-o-break-o-matic. You will probably get 2500 hrs vs. 613hrs of trouble free service.Don't forget to read the operators manual (l have 3 tractors & 35 hrs of study time on them at least). Thanks for vidio Man, be safe and happy tractoring.

    Great tractor and family. I hope it gives you years of dependable service. Mom looks as much at home in a tractor as she probably does in the house. I wish you all happiness. Thanks for sharing

      Thank you for the kind words and for watching! She is a super mom, she’s good at everything she does including on the tractor, with a chainsaw, or house work.

    Nice tractor! We have a TYM 574 on our 11 acre horse farm. 37 hp would have been enough but I always buy more than I anticipate needing. I thought TYM/RK offered the best valve. 1 year and 150 hrs without issue so far. It handles many implements and attachments wonderfully. Be sure to adjust your wheels to the widest adjustment…(looks like they gave it to you set narrow). It will be much more stable when wide.
    I lowered the air pressure in my tires. The dealer had them higher than needed. If yours are too high the ride will be rough and traction lost.
    God Bless and enjoy!

    I looked pretty hard at the RK while shopping a couple years ago. I ended up getting kubota L4701 but the RK seems to be pretty good overall. I hope they catch on and get more dealers in NC. We only have 1 and a couple in VA within 1 hour.

    I have a RK 37 have had it for 2 yrs. Great tractor as long as you service it, watch your fluid levels and don’t go beyond It’s load capabilities. Go the same attachments as you with the exception of the fork lift. Got a grappler instead. Wishing you many a happy hours of use.

    • @MaynardFamilyHomestead
      @MaynardFamilyHomestead  3 роки тому

      Thanks! I was originally planning to buy the grapple but I opted at the last minute for the forks. I figured I would have more use in the long term from forks. I’m coming up on my first service, do you normally take it in for them to do it or do it yourself?

    I see you bought your Tractor in Ocala, fl. I got mine at Crystal River but I go to Ocala if I need anything.
    The Service you mentioned has to be done by Rural King. According to the warrantee. I only have 10 acres which are loaded with trees. That’s why grappler was to my advantage. If you have any questions or inquiries drop me a line.

      @ Carl Cutbill Did you opt for the can tractor with all the trees you said you had? I'm kinda in the same boat 17 acres and a lot of trees also and I'm afraid of breaking glass.

    I'm thinking of purchasing one too, and I've seen them in person too with the ag tires. To me, where they are a more narrow tire than the industrial tire, would take away from the side to side stability because it lessens the with of the tractor. I live in a mountainous region, and don't think the ag tires would be suitable for me, although before watching your video was considering them; nonetheless, I hope you enjoy your new purchase. I also didn't know the radio was bluetooth compatible. Thanks for sharing

    • @MaynardFamilyHomestead
      @MaynardFamilyHomestead  3 роки тому +1

      Awesome, I definitely recommend the industrial tires. We took it back and they switched them to the industrial tires and it is 100% better and lots more stable.

  • @scotth9631
    @scotth9631 3 роки тому +2

    I think your tire disappointment comes from the configuration. You need to get those wheels flipped, it'll add like a foot of width to your stance and look more normal. As it is, that thing's probably dangerously tippy.

    • @MaynardFamilyHomestead
      @MaynardFamilyHomestead  3 роки тому

      Yes it was very tippy! We ended up changing them out for the wider industrial tires and they are awesome.

      I am thinking a DK4710SE for my property. Most of it is wooded, but I am trying to bring back the fields that trees have been growing on since the 50’s. The property has been here since the early 1800’s. Have my work cut out for me, and I am not getting any younger!

    • @MaynardFamilyHomestead

      You can, but it’s definitely not like a Bose noise canceling system LOL. You have to turn it up pretty loud, and the speaker quality is not that great. It sounds a lot like an 80s beach radio.

    So .................. If I'm reading RK Tractor prices correct. This was < $30K
    If RK offered a RK25 w/cab, would you have considered it?
    Kioti just put air-conditioning on the smallest tractor I've seen CX2510 ua-cam.com/video/H1Ogk-hWrBE/v-deo.html
    Way smaller than Kubota B2650 ua-cam.com/video/bF5IxHYO5bw/v-deo.html

    • @MaynardFamilyHomestead
      @MaynardFamilyHomestead  3 роки тому

      I actually wanted the 55 horse instead of the 37, but it was a little bit above my price range. I wouldn’t want anything smaller myself than a 37 because of cutting hay and lifting heavier loads with the forks. But not everybody cut hay with a compact tractor for personal use, so the 25 horse might be sufficient. It’s all in what you want to do with it. :-)

    Is this tractor made by tym, and is it a korean-made unit?

    • @MaynardFamilyHomestead
      @MaynardFamilyHomestead  3 роки тому +1

      Yes it is, TYM makes several brands actually. They bring them in from Korea on shipping containers and assemble them right here in our small town.
