14:18 as someone who lives near Versailles (pronounce Ver-sales, we’re absolute hicks out here) I can confirm that Jacob’s Cave is one of the oldest family owned tourist trap in the state. It is now considered a major landmark here and I’m pretty sure someone in the know posted pictures from JC’s official website as a prank and non-Missourians took it seriously.

OKAY SO- the first time I went to my Nanny’s house in Georgia I noticed she had one of those “really nice living rooms that no one goes into” and it was blocked off by baby gates and sitting on the antique dusty couches were DOLLS. So many dolls like at least 20 different kinds of disturbing, Annabelle-ish, life like dolls. The worst part- they faced towards the dining room table as we ate. Love yall ❤️

For the bedroom issue. Some realtors/states require a room to have A) a door/door frame (that a door can be installed on) that encloses it from the rest of the house and/or b) a closet in the room to "officially" count it as one of the house's bedrooms. Since it is an older home there are probably no closets. In the past, people used armoires/dressers rather than build said closets. It's why sometimes listings have "Bonus Rooms". That literally just means a room that doesn't meet one/both of the qualifications above and is clearly not a bathroom/kitchen/laundry room.

In my area, this is often referred to as a ‘den’. Like 1 bedroom + den really means 1 bedroom and another room the size of a bedroom that you could use as an office or spare room but doesn’t have a fire-escape sized window etc so it doesn’t really count.
@@molloblin Thank you! I completely blanked on the window issue. Some states also require a heating (or cooling depending on the state) element. With these old houses they didn't need to care about these legal definitions so there are actually a bunch of zero "bedroom" homes 😊

As a resident of Missouri, I just want to say that unfortunately, Sarah you got that wrong. We do not pronounce it like the French, it is not "ver-sigh" but "ver-sail-s". Also, it is not the only privately owned cave in Missouri or the only one I've seen for sale recently.
