Hello potters. as of late I've been experimenting with Mason stains mixed with my porcelain clay body in order to make a marbelized clay body that's not just brown and white. I figured I would start practicing with this experimentation by crafting some bowls and donating them to project "empty bowls" it's simple, you make some bowls, people buy them, that money goes to a social service, easy. they also throw a big party for a bunch of artists so it's a good meetup.
enjoy the video, I know lots of people have been asking how I'm making this marbleized clay body and this is essentially how I do it, I put Mason stain inside of my reclaim and it does the work itself. have a good night, stay safe stay hydrated, and check to see if there's an empty bowls donation in your area. I try to make it part of my yearly donation with a few friends but this year it was just me :)

So beautiful. Thanks for the demonstration and donating to a good cause. I’m still struggling with tap centering so it was helpful to watch you do that.
Nice work! I'm liking the marbled clay with pure white glaze. I'm in the process of making 6-12 bowls for a similar event down here in So Ca. It gives me a chance to just sit and throw for hours just practicing different bowl shapes and sizes. This year I chose 2 lb, ramen shapes.
I encourage anyone to purchase a bowl to help out worthy human beings, but also they can get a great piece of locally crafted ceramic art for a price that is ridiculously reasonable. It's a win-win-win.
To call this awesome would be an understatement! Hopefully I'll have the skills to donate to this by next year.
Glad to see you're supporting this cause. BTW, what is that black object on the shelf behind you? Is it a mini tripod?
Oh yeah, sometimes I leave my camera lying around but it's tripod like that
I think our local Wilkes University does fundraisers for Empty bowls. It's a wonderful cause. Well done!
My pottery place is doing it too! As ALWAYS, I learned so much! Thank you!
Huge fan of Empty Bowls. As a local artist in Mckinney, I've been painting the patron level bowls for several years here, along with numerous other local artists. Now that I'm also creating with clay, I look forward to throwing bowls for this event in addition to painting them.
I am absolutely obsessed with the mug made from that marbleized clay! When will it be on your website?
love those bowls!!! I can't wait to try and get some when they get onto your site.
Love the clay and glaze choice
I'm in love with that clay!
