Hi, I am a Data Scientist with one year of professional experience and an overseas degree, majoring in Engineering. As I understand, the 482 visa requires at least one year of relevant work experience in the nominated occupation or a related field, which I meet. However, I noticed that the ACS skills assessment for a Data Scientist role suggests that a minimum of four years of relevant work experience is required with my specific degree to meet the suitability criteria. Given this, I would like to clarify whether this means I would not be eligible for the visa, even though I meet the visa's work experience requirements, as I do not meet the ACS assessment's suitability criteria. Are there any alternative pathways that would allow me to obtain a work visa within a reasonable timeframe? I appreciate your time and assistance in helping me understand this matter.
Hello, I've applied for 186 DE at 10.10.24 with accredited sponsor (visa application a day after nomination application). My occupation, Biotechnologist, was in the MLTSSL at the time of application submission but it is now removed from the new CSOL list. Considering a very long processing time nowadays, can you please advise about whether this removal will affect my visa grant? Do the department of Home Affairs laws usually apply retrospectively or non-retrospectively? Am I safe because the occupation was in the list at the time of application? Thanks

I currently hold a 482 visa, but my company has told me they’ll only extend the 482 visa and won’t proceed with a TRT nomination. They’re concerned that if they support my permanent residency, I might leave the company afterward. I’m wondering, has the introduction of the SID made it impossible to extend the 482 visa? From the employer’s perspective, does it come down to either nominating me for PR before the 482 expires or simply not extending the visa and sending me back to my country?
