After my hubby proposed, he sent me this song. I'm Laila and I love my writer hubby as a true 'Laila'. Btw, I'm from Quetta so it hardly gets any better! Quettish ppl rock!
In the comment section i see lot of confusion, some saying its Sindhi (Ethnic group living in Pakistan and India) and some saying its persian (Iranian). Well I speak Sindhi and persian and this is not either of them. This is Balochi language which is spoken in Balochistan (eastern balochistan in pakistan and western balochistan in Iran). The Balochi language has the closest similarities to Kurdish, Avestan, old Persian. If I'm not mistaken this song was originally sung by Ustad Aziz Baloch who was from Liyari Karachi.
Eli G definition of an ethnic group is a collection of people who have common ancestry, culture and usually language. Shindis are natives of Sindh. Due to partition, most Hindu Sindhis migrated to India. It is how Punjab is a State and Punjabis are an ethnic group. I may live in Punjab but I may not necessarily be ethnically a Punjabi. There is political identity and there is a cultural identity. Just my two pence. When you say Shind is only a geographical province you are robbing many Indian Shindis of their identity.
Thanks for all the nice greetings for my birthday. Thanks to all of you who are with me and and care about me, follow my life both as a father, family, friend, and not least as a singer. Me and my music and my sons Bamshad and Milos Nohan, are very grateful for all the support that you have given us. Both in my hard and happy days in my life. You have to be lucky in life if you have so many fine around around him. I'm lucky. Wish you all the happiness and good health. Peace /
Dear Sir, Very rarely have i heard such a beautiful voice and rendition of an old song as you have done with laila o laila. Despite having lashari blood in our veins, we remain unable to understand the verses, our loss I remember this song from my youth when it sed to come on black and White tv by Faqir M Khan and after about 40 years i heard it and what an experience it was... God bess you for reviving my memories and giving us such a beautiful piece of work

count to # 5. ur the 5th im bowing down for ur respectful comment/love. #Respect for the Indian Love/Respect, Indians seem to have some penchance for Western Pak music /culture , Khuda Gawah ;-).
Many people in narrow mindedness refer back to their regional original songs but forget the initiator and great work of ROHAIL HYATT and the Western orchestra. We must have big heart to appreciate those who start good work and keep alive the good music.

It's 2019 and I am still listening to this wonderful song. Your voice, the music , the lyrics everything is so magical about this song. Thank you Rostam and Rohail Hyatt for this amazing song. I wish Rohail Hyatt was still producing for coke studio. I just wish good luck and a very happy life to all you guys. Stay blessed and keep creating such magic. Love from India.
Listening to magic of Rohail Hyatt in 2022. I just people to appreciate him more as a artist than they appreciate other overrated composers working for Hum Tv and Ary Digital, their work comes below average when put on same table as of Rohail. Because people like so good at what they are rarest kind. And he brings music out of this Universe. He can do anything from Folk to Modern and in the most expressive way.
Music has no words coke studio has just proved it one more time. Its an NGO of music industry, please don't let this authentic taste of music die and keep exploring new horizons of SA RE GA MA... Just love it Muaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh Laila O Laila.
When I was 6 year old l had hear this from my cousin phone as phone ring from that time I am in love with this legend song. Even though I don't understand its meaning. ❤❤❤
Now this is what music must sound like ..... soothing, refreshing and in synch with what is being sung .... Thanks Rohail Hayyat for producing this global season of CS Pakistan.

1 AM local time....waiting for some details from my offshore team in India.....day started at 6AM....the only thing keeping me up is this mellifluous/uplifting/heartwarming music....I have this feeling that I will not get an iota of sleep tonight.....will be playing this tune for the next few weeks at work, while driving, on the plane, everywhere, all the time.....

Many people in narrow mindedness refer back to their regional original songs but forget the initiator and great work of ROHAIL HYATT and the Western orchestra. We must have big heart to appreciate those who start good work and keep alive the good music.
Translation for this song is as below
Laila, O beautiful Laila
Laila, O beautiful Laila
Come, let me take you to see the sights
O high and mighty Laila
O high and mighty Laila
It’s been so long and you haven’t returned
Your memories have made me go blind with weeping
O high and mighty Laila
O high and mighty Laila
Laila, O beautiful Laila
The beauty of your forehead ornament…
Has made me fall madly in love with you
Has made me fall madly in love with you
The sorrow of your separation…
Has made my eyes go blind with tears
It’s been a year since you went away
And I have suffered so much grief
This land is fertile and abundant
And Quetta is our home
The parting of your hair is so clear and exquisite
That my heart just melts to see it
Laila, O beautiful Laila
Laila, I willingly give up my life for you
Laila, O beautiful Laila
Laila, O sweet Laila

Stay blessed and keep creating such magic.
Love from India.
Wow! This is amazing. Can't help listening again and again. Even fantastic to watch Laila O Laila - BTS
Lots of love from India.
Rostam MirLashari
