I just turned 60 and what Pete said about the 80s is completely accurate. Lots of mixed messages about “male bonding” in my generation.
This was a very solid set. He no longer needs our sympathy - he’s just being the masterful comedian he is. Bravo.
Having not been around then, I was always confused about how that was. Apparently it was also normal to shower together after gym class in schools and stuff? In my generation, at most maybe some kids would shower after sports practice--but in bathing suits, which they change in and out of in a stall.
And you're only 60? You're cute .. from a woman from California who is 66 (never been this old in my life!) with no wrinkles looks 40 and gets hit on by guys in their 20s. Yikes lol

@@grumbles going off my parents it was more often a sports thing. My dad played football and they would actually use the showers after practice and stuff. Though with football at that point in time you've been rolling around with each other on the ground for hours, so how much do you care about them seeing you naked?

I honestly didn't think Pete would make it past his first season. Every time he shows up, I'm happy for him.
Pete didn't think he'd make it far, either, and still thinks he doesn't belong on the show because everyone else is more talented than he is.
SNL News is always the highlight of the program. And even more of the highlight when Pete's on it. Bonus from Pete: the Norm shirt. I wanted to hug him for that.

I already had love for the guy but after seeing “The King of Staten Island” my respect for Pete Davidson went through the roof. He probably wouldn’t be the “best” mentor but I would personally love to learn from another man that’s been through so much. Comedy has gotten me through some rough-ass shit so I’d just love to thank all of you performers that have rolled the dice and thought “maybe my shitty experience can help someone else learn a better way, while doing it with a smile on their face”. Love you guys. Keep up the amazing work.

@@TrestanSKYWALKR Well...I think comedy is subjective or even medicinal...if it doesn't treat your condition, it's not the right medicine. But...things can change. When Norm was doing update back in the day...I didn't really get him...he just seemed like he was pretending to be a dumb guy. Many years later I came around and now I can't get enough of Norm's old update clips, I've seen just about every talk show appearance he ever did, I've read his book, a buddy of mine and I drove 5 hours to see him do two back-to-back shows at the San Jose Improv, and he's easily on my Mt. Rushmore of stand-ups. Not saying Pete has Norm's genius or staying power...but he's got a thing...and maybe it'll hit you different at another point in time.

80s America was not like Mtv & movies. By far most dudes didn't use hairspray, or wear spandex. It was jeans & T shirts, drinking & getting high with friends including teenage girls, going to Rock concerts, movies & lots of sex. Sex, drugs & Rock n Roll wasn't just the 70s. Every generation has cool & less cool people. The less cool dudes in the 80s might use hairspray n wear colorful clothes, Just as the less cool dudes in the 2020s might wear a dress.

I grew up in Miami...so i beg to differ. My uncles spanned the spectrum--from huge chop sideburns, thick mustaches, ect to big ass hair, short shorts, tank tops, driving mustangs & other low uncomfortable cars.
And lots of cocaine... Only when i grew up did it make sense why my uncles were so hopped up all the time & constantly went to the bathroom.
