  • I made this video to visually explain how we eased Pepper into eating in her Bailey Chair. This is something you really want to go slow with and make sure your dog doesn't get scared during the process. Let us know if you have any questions at all! :)

Thank you for filming this. I'm building a chair right now, and it gives me hope that my dog will learn to like it.

Irai Rod there is definitely hope! Pepper was a very scared, timid dog and we were worried in the beginning too, but we took it slow, and now she LOVES her chair! Dogs love food, so once they realize they get food in their chair, they are totally cool with. Pepper will try to get in her chair random times during the day hoping she will get an extra meal LOL

hey there, I love how it's now in reverse: Pepper doesn't want to get OUT of the chair. Sailor was terrified of it too but we moved real slow, getting him used to it for a couple weeks before putting the door on.

Thanks for sharing! Just got a chair for our dog and he is a little skittish around it. But hopefully he will get used to it!

Hi there! Awesome tip on the yogurt treats, thanks! Just wondering... Is your dog on any medication as well? My dog is on a pill that he takes 30 min before he eats, just wanted to know if the treats bother your with medication..
    thank you!

Precisely Embellished hey sorry I just saw this. It all depends on what medication. Like Pepper use to be on sucralfate 30 minutes before she ate and that has to be given with no food. We gave it to her by oral syringe. Thankfully once she got use to getting into the chair, the treats weren’t even needed anymore.

Does your dog with MegaE exhibit excess drooling? My vet said the excess drooling is from the drool not being able to get swallowed into the stomach, I am not sure the chair would help in that regard?

My dog couldn't swallow either 2 weeks ago. He is better now, on several medications. Prednisone, famotadine, pyridostigm. He still has problems, so I am reluctantly considering a Bailey chair. This video is encouraging, although my Golden Doodle is much larger. He was 70 lbs, but now he is only 58 lbs.

Sorry I’m just seeing this! Yes this excess saliva can pool in their esophagus and even be aspirated. The Neck Hug is a good help for that and we actually made a video on it! With breeds that drool any, this can become a big issue. Thankfully for, chihuahuas aren’t a breed that’s really known to drool, so as long as they wear their neck hugs which keep their heads elevated when they lay down, they rarely have any issues with regurgitating saliva or drooling.

Pepper is only about 30-35lbs. It sounds like your baby has MG as well? I hope he’s doing well
