Amerika is one of the first songs we wrote for Home of the Strange, and was subsequently one of our first releases. Based off Kafka's unfinished novel, Amerika is the story of an immigrant who finds himself both enthralled and spurned by the American Dream. This is also my story. I am the son of immigrants, and our family finds this dream simultaneously on the tip of our tongues and impossibly intangible every single day. In the wake of this election outcome, we feel that this song, in one of those rare moments of prophesy, has even more to say now than when it was first released. Regardless of where we may all stand, we are all searching for home, and want to feel heard; feel like we belong. We hope our story reaches you. Share yours, so we can all better understand the true tapestry of America; so we can all find renewed faith in the land we all call home

The purity of this band is fuckin mind blowing. The talent is unreal. They're so underrated.
I don't think they are underrated. I think they are just where they need to be. Feel like with bands like this one it is nice to have them in a place where they aren't playing giant arenas and huge venues. makes it special to have a band where it just feels right. I know what you mean though. :-)
@@mariusz3983 3 years late to your comment lmao. I do agree though, but they did play red rocks in CO which is one of the biggest venues in the US and sold out, I was fortunate enough to go in 2017. Still a mind blowing band. However, just months before in Nov 2016 they played at the Ogden in CO which housed like 50 people, was an amazing concert because it was so small. Super lucky to have gone to both

I'm not a hugely emotional person, but Sameer has a voice that, in some songs, nearly moves me to tears. His voice has so much power, passion, and sincerity. Truly one of the best vocalists out there. This band is supremely underrated.

Very rare to have two vocalists of that quality in the same band. Eric’s quite good as well (maybe not in this recording but his backing vocals are great on other songs)
I love that everybody that listens to Young the Giant is so positive towards each other. When I saw them at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago everybody knew every word to every song and you could just feel a connection with everybody in the room. Chills down my spine the whole time hands down best experience I've ever had, Young the Giant has had such an impact on my life and I hope they know how fuckin amazing they are to so many people

Saw them live yesterday here in Anchorage, Alaska-unbeatable experience. This song with a snowcapped mountain backdrop and blue skies?! absolutely surreal.
Saw them in October here in Vegas and a super small venue and it was amazing. Best thing that happened all year!

Love this song so much! As one of the first on my mother's side to be born here in the states, I've seen just how powerful, restricting, liberating, challenging, realizable, and accessible the American dream can be. For nearly everyone, the American dream varies enormously and just as you said, it's something that's both at our finger tips and unattainable at the same time. Can't wait to see you guys in Charleston and hopefully vlog about it over on my channel!

I grew up in the 90's. I got to experience music change overnight when Nirvana broke....and it was literally over night. I say that because I'd like to point out that this type of stuff has the same mesmerizing effect on my 40 something self and this band is the best of this style. I am so glad that I am not closed minded. I have a lot of friends who don't think anything good came out after that decade. If this isn't good, I don't know wtf is!! I haven't heard anything by ytg that I haven't liked a little and most of it is some of the best stuff I've heard, ever! An absolutely awesome band!

Oh this takes me back to the spring of 2021 when I met my soulmate on a late evening flight into Lafayette, Louisiana. We talked on the phone for hours every night for over two months until I got the chance to drive out to her town to have our first date. We had a magical weekend. We parted ways the end of the summer, she had some things she needed to do for herself and we lost touch. I'm absolutely certain if we had made back together in the fall, I'd be married to that girl right now but it wasn't meant to happen yet. It's been over 2 years since I've spoken to her and she's still, literally, the first thought that comes into my mind when I wake up every morning. Sweet girl, i miss you dearly. Someday, somewhere.
Truly one of the greatest bands of our generation. So much talent and passion in their performances. They're great every single time, and I'm glad I listened to them, as they really got me to appreciate alternative style music.

This band has helped me through some of the hardest time in my life, their songs being an incredibly melancholy backdrop to my life in one year and the exact same song being a battle song the next. The amount of sheer talent and passion this group has makes me strive for this in my own life. Thank you Young the Giant.

I cannot express how deeply Young the Giant's lyrics and music touch me. I have now had the extreme pleasure of driving from Tampa to New Orleans to see the House of Blues stop on the Home of The Strange Tour. Worth every penny spent!!!!

Sappy storytime: Young The Giant is a band that me and the man I want to marry have so much connection to. We would sit at the lake for hours and hours, talking or even sleeping, in his truck, with YTG playing after I introduced him to them on our first date on a bench, in the downtown mall at midnight, because we didn’t want to leave each other that night. He’s the best thing that has ever happened to me and getting to see this band live before covid came around really meant more than we can still explain. Two and a half years later, I’m more in love with him than I ever have been and YTG songs is the soundtrack to our life together. ♥️ These are the songs that will forever play softly in the background as we lead a life of loving and healing with each other.

I remember hearing Cough Syrup on the radio at work and had not the slightest clue who was singing I just knew the song was always stuck in my head. Then I found them through a Deezer recommendation for Nothing But Thieves fans.....best discovery in a while for me. There latest album is just beauty. You guys are great and this in the open shows me you guys are passionate about music and I can feel it your songs aswell. Love you guys, just waiting on each album here after now. I found this song a few weeks while washing my truck. I have literally been listening to Amerika by Young the Giant every day all damn day, ever since. Sameer has a great voice and the songwriting is amazing. It's almost like finding a magic pill that helps the state of mind. Thank you YTG!!

The gel and timing this band has for one another is AMAZING!!! Such a cohesive unit. They obviously feel each other and the groove.
