Thanks James, that definitely helped me out. I am working on my son's car and we couldn't figure out what else we needed but your explanation helped us out.
Leo Pacheco Thank you for the positive comment on my video, I'm glad it helped you out! If you haven't already looked at the updated video you will find more information on that video! -James-
If your car has a amp under seat and it gets its signal for sound through the 6 pin din with rca adapter then you don’t really need to hook up the speaker wires in the main harness because if you look at the back side of stock plug there’s only power and grounding wires
Hey Ps3mn1, just wanted to say thanks for the video! I installed the unit with just the wiring harness - color wires, and I wasn't getting output. I watched this and your updated version and realized I needed a DIN adapter because the Eclipse speakers are powered speakers. Popped that adapter in and voila! Thanks a lot man.
Your video really helped me. Bought my car and no sound from the radio. Realized that the DIN cable wasn't connected. Also, the link to buy the cable really helped.
James you helped and I see many are very appreciative. would be nicer with less redundancy and a bit more focus. take that as input for next time. Do you lose anything (fader?) by taking 2 male rcas to one?
I would take a look at my updated video I made. I don't like using the rca splitters. I bought the Phono jacks and soldered them in. Take a look in the links I provided. Thank you for your comment.
On the video you said the blue wire on the din cable must be connected also but you didn't say which wire it must be connected to. I have everything connected as you've shown in the video except the blue wire from the din cable, my radio lights up but there's no sound
I'm going to be making an updated video on this, I believe I didn't show enough information on how to do this properly. There is a better way of wiring your aftermarket radio which I will show in my next video! However, this will at least give everyone an idea on what you'll need to install an aftermarket radio for a Mitsubishi!
I have a 2004 eclipse and everything is stock. But none of my speakers work. The radio turns on and I can change the station but no sound out of anything. Was hoping you had an idea of what to do? By the way great video!!
Could be the din cable is disconnected, either located under your passenger seat where the amp is, or inside the stereo deck. Or could be the 10A fuse located inside the engine bay. It's located in the Yellow square. Hope this helps!
Blue and white wire from DYN cable connects to.....? Old cheap aftermarket deck malfunctioned to the point I only had sound coming out of the center speaker on the dash. Now with the new stereo I have power to stereo but no sound.
Sorry dude, I have never written up scripts to any of my videos. I just go with it. Yeah, I understand it's a bit confusing, I just don't have a lot of time to write one up.
I got the kit u got but I hooked it all up but its not working I notice the harness I got don't have a ground wire it only has red blue yellow orange the harness that goes to the stereo has all speaker wires n the wires that the harness has to hook up to factory harness
I never had to connect a ground wire, the power runs from the din cable to the amplifier. I would check your wires. Or could be a bad fuse not giving the stereo power.
Does your steering wheel radio controls still work? I'm trying to do this and I want to make sure I can still control the radio with my steering wheel buttons.
Make sure you check out the updated video with the link I provided! The updated video will show you how to properly install an aftermarket Stereo without making it look like a mess!
Hey I have a 2001 Mitsubishi eclipse gt spyder, I hooked up everything right ( I think) the radio turns on and works but no sound is coming from the speakers, what could it be ? Could it be the harness that only has 4 connections and the din cable, and that I might have to buy the more expensive harness with more connections or what ? Pls lmk
Erik Caraballo If your stereo worked before installing the new aftermarket stereo then I would check your rca speaker connections, the purple, green, white, grey wires. If your stereo didn't work before doing the installation I would suggest your factory amp is shot. The amp is located under your passenger seat. Good luck!
Ps3mn1 the old factory radio wouldn't turn on at all, I installed the new aftermarket and it turned on and as I put a local radio station on it, on the screen of the radio itself it shows as if there is sound as the bars go up and down on the screen but the speakers have no sound coming out, do you think it could possibly be more of the harness that's the problem because there are so many wires left over on the aftermarket radio like the green, purple , white, orange, and the rca connectors on the aftermarket is white red white red, and on the din cable the rca connectors are green, white, gray, purple
Erik Caraballo There's two ways you could do it. The simple way is to take 2 rca splitters and connect either colors from the din cable green/purple/white/grey to the back of your stereo where the red/white inputs are. That should give you sound. If you get sound I would suggest you solder the din cable connections with rca phono jacks if you were going to install subwoofer in the future. If you haven't already watched update #3 I demonstrate not having sound coming from your stereo. Good luck
Me again...I received the adapter. My aftermarket stereo has 6 RCA inputs and I'm confused on what colors go where since my aftermarket radio is coded black/red/white. Do I need another adapter?
Allie W The din adapter connects to the wiring harness. You don't need any other adapters. Solder in the wires from the wiring harness to the inline female phono jacks. black trim wire goes on the long end of the phono jack.
I'll clarify what this kid is saying since i deal with these situations on the daily. First off he is calling RCA's "input" which RCA's is an "output" from the headunit. I have an 2001 Eclipse Spyder GT and the best thing to do is get the Metra 70-7002 wiring kit and bypass the crap infinity stock amplifier. Basically the Metra wiring kit plugs into the harness under the seat and you feed this harness up to your headunit and match the colors off your new headunit. Just bypass or do not use the tweater wires unless u got bass blockers on them.
does the din cable bring power to the stereo because we did everything except were waiting on the adapter is it normal for it to not power up with out that?
+RandomReels Yes, you will need the din cable to complete the circuit for the stereo, I believe without it you won't have any power at all. It's a 2 cable process! I would also have you check out the updated video linked in the comments, I get in more depth on how to properly wire the connections!
That's not me who sold you the kit, it's a company who I had bought the kit from. I linked it. On the RCA Plugs there should be the blue/white wire, that's your External Amplifier, which is not used unless you were going to be wiring in Subwoofers and the External Amplifier.
Mats Lindskog Color diagram for the speakers? I would watch my most recent video, update #3. I give more details on the wiring. If you have any questions on it please leave a comment. Thanks.
Sadly no, the amp is what powers the speakers inside your vehicle, so without it, you wouldn't be able to hear any sound. So I suggest searching for a Pre-Owned Amp for the vehicle, Model Number: MR400692
Actually you can. I know this post is 7 years old I’m actually working on wiring a sound system. I just removed the stock amp and put a pioneer 4ch amp
+Jon Silvers Could be a loose wire, it seems to me they're getting power to the speaker, but there's no output. I would check your wiring harness behind the stereo and spot any loose connections.
+Jonathan Martinez The updated video in linked in the comment section below, the kit is in my description. Go ahead and watch the second video on how to properly install an aftermarket radio. This video isn't good enough.
The cable the runs from the amp is called a DIN cable, that's the blue, white, grey, and purple connectors. you plug the din kit into the original connector, and solder the wires from the din kit to the wiring kit/harness.
Yes, if you seen the updated video it will explain more information. You also need to buy the kit for the radio to work. The links are in my description.
All I am looking for is how to install a radio. This video doesn't tell you how to remove the dash and install a radio...at all. Such a waste. Kept talking about wire he already connected.
+Channing Voss Sorry about that spam, I was using my phone at the time to post. And the whole reason for me replacing the stereo was the original stereo doesn't work, the connectors on the face plate were shot, so even if I found it, I wouldn't sell you a broken unit
+Channing Voss Oh, okay I know what you mean, that's the amplifier, mine does work, it gave power to my stereo but the buttons on the head unit didn't function. Though, I won't sell it because without it, you won't have any power running to the head unit. And the model number is in fact MR400692
-James-

Hey, not a problem, glad to help out! And thank you for your reply!
Where did you get the adapter
Your video really helped me. Bought my car and no sound from the radio. Realized that the DIN cable wasn't connected. Also, the link to buy the cable really helped.
Hey, not a problem! I'm here to help out others! Thank you for your comment!
Ps3mn1, Although I didn't see a link for a DIN adapter cable
Allie W The link for the stereo kit includes the din cable. It's in my description.
Oh thanks. I missed it.
Ps3mn1 the rca addapter doesnt look like the one u have in the car where can i find those
I learned something new today. Wire nuts...
Yeah thanks this helped me. I'll probably do it the other way once I get the adapters.
James you helped and I see many are very appreciative. would be nicer with less redundancy and a bit more focus. take that as input for next time.

On the video you said the blue wire on the din cable must be connected also but you didn't say which wire it must be connected to. I have everything connected as you've shown in the video except the blue wire from the din cable, my radio lights up but there's no sound
will this work for a 2003 dodge stratus coupe as well? its a dodge yes, but it all Mitsubishi except the body and emblems
My radio on my 2001 spider GT just stopped working and my antenna doesn’t power up. What do you think could be wrong. Radio fuse is ok.
I'm going to be making an updated video on this, I believe I didn't show enough information on how to do this properly. Broooo, this video was so difficult to watch. You should write a script before making a video so that you have some direction.
Sorry dude, I have never written up scripts to any of my videos. I just go with it. Yeah, I understand it's a bit confusing, I just don't have a lot of time to write one up.
Hey dude, I have a new updated video for you! Check it out! ua-cam.com/video/KUw65UNguoA/v-deo.html
I was looking for a link to buy the kit but couldn’t find it could you send me a link please??
thanks mate

I will re make this video with a script if a few people are interested in it. Let me know your thoughts here.
Ps3mn1 very interested bro. please make that video.
I'm currently in the process of writing the script, video should be made as soon as I finish typing it and get some time to record it! Stay tuned!
Update #3 is here! ua-cam.com/video/KUw65UNguoA/v-deo.html
They cut the den cable in mine, I'm lost. Trouble finding anything on rewiring that.
Update #2 video is here! ua-cam.com/video/xPJ1GwzRhuc/v-deo.html
Check it out and see what I've done!
Make sure you check out the updated video with the link I provided! The updated video will show you how to properly install an aftermarket Stereo without making it look like a mess!
Where to buy the adapter for the speaker
My eclipse didn’t come with a dyn cable?
Thanks will help

Hey I install mines but when I turn on my head lights the deck is completely cutting off , what's the reason for that ?

Hey, man! Have the same car and have som troubles with the adaptors... Can you give me the colour diagram for the wires?
Mats Lindskog Color diagram for the speakers? I would watch my most recent video, update #3. I give more details on the wiring. If you have any questions on it please leave a comment. Thanks.
hi i have a 2001 mitsu eclipse bit the amp under the seat got wet and fried is there a way to bypass the amp and just connect the din and 16 pin ?
Sadly no, the amp is what powers the speakers inside your vehicle, so without it, you wouldn't be able to hear any sound. So I suggest searching for a Pre-Owned Amp for the vehicle, Model Number: MR400692

I have uploaded another update to this video! Please check it out here!
UPDATE #3 ua-cam.com/video/KUw65UNguoA/v-deo.html
I figured out I had the wrong adapter harness but was able to convert it to work
+Jon Silvers Good stuff man, good luck on the project, I know once I heard the music I was in the gold
+Ps3mn1 I got a question, I have speakers in the rear seat area and they move but no sound. Do you by chance know what's up
+Jon Silvers Could be a loose wire, it seems to me they're getting power to the speaker, but there's no output. I would check your wiring harness behind the stereo and spot any loose connections.
is it the same thing with a mitsubishi montero sport?
I believe so, within the years 94-2005. Please check out the Stereo Link to see if it works for your vehicle!
My Speakers won’t work :/
hey i have a after market stereo but the sound plays sometimes and sometimes it doesn't do you know what i can do to fix that problem
Does it cut out when you listen to the radio station, or when you listen to music using the AUX or USB?
Both sometime when i use the car the audio place and most times it doesn't. Thank you for replying btw
It doesnt cut out tho
Another thing, does your stereo unit power off when it cuts off? Or does it stay powered on and just the sound cuts off?
+Ps3mn1 just the sound the system is always on
Where is the ground wire
I dont have 4 rca outputs so i need that adapter that you got where do i get one?
+Jonathan Martinez The updated video in linked in the comment section below, the kit is in my description. Go ahead and watch the second video on how to properly install an aftermarket radio. This video isn't good enough.
Okat thank you!
Dude, I apologize I'm just trying to get this stereo in my car,and my ocd and impatience just kicked in hard
+Jon Silvers Well what are you having problems with? You should check out the updated video for more info, otherwise just ask me
does the head have sub compatability
Yes, most aftermarket stereo's have the Red/White RCA Connectors to hook up Subwoofers. Please check out the Updated video to learn more!
can anyone tell me the part number or actual name for the "brain" of the stereo
how do you connect the stock amp wire to the combo pack amp
Combo pack amp? I'm not sure what you mean. The kit you buy uses the din cable from your amp, and the wire harness to your stereo deck.
Ps3mn1 so I should already have a amp wire coming from my deck ?
The cable the runs from the amp is called a DIN cable, that's the blue, white, grey, and purple connectors. you plug the din kit into the original connector, and solder the wires from the din kit to the wiring kit/harness.
I dont even see a blue wire....do you NEED to connect those blue wires for it to work?
Yes, if you seen the updated video it will explain more information. You also need to buy the kit for the radio to work. The links are in my description.
All I am looking for is how to install a radio. This video doesn't tell you how to remove the dash and install a radio...at all. Such a waste. Kept talking about wire he already connected.
Watch update #3. Thank you.

This is just sad.
thanks bro
can anyone tell me the part number or actual name for the "brain" of the stereo
I might still have the old stereo somewhere, I will try to find it
+Ps3mn1 if you have the mr400692 let me know if I can buy it from ya
+Channing Voss Sorry about that spam, I was using my phone at the time to post. And the whole reason for me replacing the stereo was the original stereo doesn't work, the connectors on the face plate were shot, so even if I found it, I wouldn't sell you a broken unit
Not the head unit the thing under the passanger seat
+Channing Voss Oh, okay I know what you mean, that's the amplifier, mine does work, it gave power to my stereo but the buttons on the head unit didn't function. Though, I won't sell it because without it, you won't have any power running to the head unit. And the model number is in fact MR400692
