purchased the A3 Pro6 last summer, its worked great, still use it in a wing. Great value for the money.

I use one on my r/c autogyro to help me with level-flight in case I lose orientation, which is often. What I forgot, is that the A3 Pro needs initialization-time everytime it starts up (7:20). Otherwise it goes bunkers during flight, which happened during previous flight. I barely managed to keep it in the air.

I've been using the A3 Pro for while and found it very good. Recently it stopped working ! Then I realised that, in my Tx I had reversed the Gyro but left the Gain at 80%, in the Tx. So the A3 didn't do anything, the Gain was too low. Therefore in the Tx, leave the Gyro at Norm and the Gain at 80%. Or the reverse the Gyro and set the Gain at 20%.

Interesting. What I find inconvenient with those stabilizers is that they take sbus as input but don't output the throttle channel as PWM. You alway need a receiver that outputs both sbus and PWM.

I prefer the T1000FC to these as they have GPS RTH although one shortcoming in is that they have no pass-through "manual" mode with the GPS attached.

Assuming you're using a pot to set the gain you can display the pot setting on one of the screens. Once happy you can then read off the setting and make it permanent.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  5 років тому

You can make it so that when the model is reloaded it warns you if the pot has moved (see my other videos on pre-flight checks) but the while point of the remote gain is that you can tweak it to account for local conditions and wind.. Happy flying!

Ahh I see. I'm used to just setting it at a level high enough to dampen the wind but not so high that it causes oscillations. Then I only turn it on if things get a bit rough. :-)

I've used the HobbyEagle stabilisers for many years and really like them, seeing my Cessna 182 pulling 3D aerobatics just seems so wrong, but even the A2S2 makes it easy.
The A3S3 is now my new favourite, I have the programming box for field tuning and it is brilliant. I updated the FW on the two A3's I have and now prefer the A3 to the A2.
I have several FPV planes running these stabilisers, they can easily outperform just about any of the combo FC's out there. It's like stepping from a bus into a Ferrari, especially
if you fly terrain fast and low..
Thanks again for another great video.

I have the same A3 pro but after powered on, LED just flash red slowly, according to manual, indicating "tx signal lost" but servo works well.

And with the informations I got from your video, it let me programme everything correctly, so let me tell you thank you to take the time to answering me and the good informations on your video. I've helped to set up the L version (and flown it occasionally) and that seemed pretty good when you get it right, This seems like it's an improvement and has more functions but not something i would use as a replacement for a working L. More something to consider for a new model...... _does that make sense_ ?

Strange that I bought 2 A3 v2 units on ebay that all the youtube reviewers show them as 2 pot. Here is the weird bit. Blue labeling but 3 pots and choice of 4 flight modes and cheap as chips.

Lee these look very interesting, but I still think using iNav and a F4 or better flight controller is a better more flexible solution.
Also it should be noted that the EagleA3Super3 only works with Windows computers so if you are an Apple person forget it.

Hi Lee! I recently purchased a Hobby Porter fr810 receiver/flight controller all in one unit that uses a PCB board with LEDs and switches to program it. The instructions that came with it are Horrible! I have asked for help from the seller and Hobby Porter many times but the both were of no help.
Have you had any experience with one of these? I have Googled this and there is virtually nothing out there. One video on UA-cam but when I contacted the person for more information, he said he sold it.
    Any suggestions would be helpful.

Good as far as the video went. Critical comments, not many people fly a flying wing, or use S bus. Why not make a video with what most people have and use? Along that line there is a major problem I experienced that make the Pro worthless. DON'T RELY on the default settings. The Pros I got had the default settings in the "Receiver Menu" set up is wrong for Spektrum radio. It has the throttle menu set as channel 3 (which is correct for a Futaba radio or a transmitter which uses the Futaba protocol). Since the Spektrum radio's protocol is different you MUST change the receiver menu so it matches your radio. If you don't you will experience what I did, since the instructional manual does not address this issue. With the default settings the aileron input will result in a jitter which is very bad, and the elevator will do the same. The rudder will function as normal. This makes sense since the defaults are set up wrong for the aileron and elevator, and set up correct for channel #4 on the Speckturm and Futaba protocol. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION IF YOU HAVE A SPEKTRUM TRANSMITTER AND RECEIVER.

It is always good to see some of the other stabilisers that are out there and how to configure them. Just one little thing though... the Roman numerals for 2019 is actually MMXiX, not MMXVIIII as you have put :)

@@Painless360 Is that purely due to setup complexity though, or is the stabilisation not as good, smooth, reliable, etc?
...Do either of them add any appreciable latency to the control inputs, which will auto-level a plane the quickest in an emergency, etc.

Decided to try the Hobby Eagle A3 Super 3 but I cannot get the software to connect to my Windows 10 computers. Nothing happens automatically when I connect to the USB, and when I try to run CP210xVCPInstaller_64 I get the message: “The device driver wizard was unable to find any drivers designed for your machine.” I am not enough of a computer wiz to know what to do.

    • @Painless360

I would have a look in the forums for that specific error message, it looks like others have had similar problems but a quick search I’ve just done I couldn’t find the exact one. Best of luck getting it sorted, I have the drivers for that from all of my betaflight stuff and that seem to work okay here...

After a long period of messing around I came up with the following steps which worked for me and allowed me to connect the A3S3 software to my windows 10 computer:
      1. Download CP210x VCP Driver for Windows 10 from Hobbyeagle.com site
      2. Unzip the download which should reveal an installer called CP210xVCPInstaller_x64. You would think you should run this to install the drivers but for some reason unknown to me it doesn’t work (returns the message “The device driver installation wizard was unable to find any drivers designed for your machine.”)
      3. Plug in the USB dongle supplied with the HobbyEagle A3S3, which will somehow trigger Windows 10 to add a new device in Device Manger, Ports, a new port called CP210x USB to UART Bridge. However for another unknown reason this port doesn’t work without step 4 below.
      4. Click on the Port identified in Step 3 and then update the driver, using the file unzipped in step 2. The Hobby Eagle software still does not recognize the new port when the A3S3 is connected, without doing Step 5 below.
      5. Connect the A3S3, open the HobbyEagle software. For yet another unknown reason it doesn’t see the com port, so you need to click on the com port on the lower left (but not on the icon for the port, which for another unknown reason does not function.). After all of this screwing around it now works fine.
