Hey guys. I build rotary’s every day and you should put a 9” in that Toyota before you head out. And I have had a few of those Toyotas and that rust in the front crossmember you will need to fix before you start racing it because when you hit the brakes the front wheels will spread out and can rip out the front bars. And I was just watching you driving it just now and it’s making your wheel alinement worse than it would be. And the overheating problem put an electric water pump on it. The factory water pumps are to inconsistent. And I guess you didn’t weld the exhaust holes in the rotary housing to stop exhaust boost by passing the water seals in to the water jackets. And that makes them over head. And before you put the engine together you need to drill out the water holes and 1 to 2 mm bigger than std. that helps keep the rotor housings cooler. And you need a lot bigger oil cooler than you have on it now. One really big or two big ones. I run two really big ones on my20b and that helps keep the oil cooler. Oil cooling is very important on a rotary. If you need any help just give me a shout out. Cain hard guys.

Factory cross member in bin it's got custom mounts, the motor was rebuilt with Vargas bros. so if the exhaust boost issue is probably sorted and why would they ring you when they got va had bros. On speed dial

    • @patt20b

@@alastairdow4400 no I mean at the front under the radiator. The panel that is rusty. The bottom part doesn’t really matter but the top part of the frame that bolts the two arms from the lower suspension arms up to the front cross member. I could see rust up in there. Just cut it out and replace it with at least 3mm so it doesn’t rip out when you jump on the brakes. I used to fix them for the rally guys. I would just cut it all out and weld a piece of rhs into place and that never had a problem from there. I know you are just going to drag race it. And not jumping it. But it will make it a lot stronger then std.

The coolers I used to use were at least 5X the size of what he had. And all the cars still start to run too hot if you go top speed for more than 3-5 minutes.
Plus my oil systems were usually in the 6+ quart range. 4 seems really little to me.
But I’m no pro, I just learned from making mistakes and building a few dozen engines and a handful of chassis.

Mighty Car mods recently did a Kei car Endurance race, used an oil cooler and had to remove it due to keeping the oil too cold. You want everything up to operating temperature as fast and even as possible. That’s why fans and controllers are my favourite… the fan and shroud block air to get up to temperature faster, and then the fan/diverter valves keeps everything where it needs to be.
Rotaries are a little “special”, as half the engine block is ultra hot and the other ultra cooled... so oil system is even more important to do well.

I have volunteered at tracks and won't cert helmets. Even the manufactures tell you if dropped from more than 2 ft replace. It's a whole new kind of dumb to think a helmet treated the way they do with them is worth putting on your head. I have lost 3 friends who just had old helmets blow apart on light impacts and die from brain swelling. 500 bucks to save your brain is dirt cheap. A company being able to ban you from charging your EV on their network is a huge reason not to go EV. It starts with "because it has a salvage title" and eventually its "you posted something we dont like."

It amazes me so many still don't understand where this all headed, to think the Government and Corporations are on the side of the people and they're just concerned about our safety is incredibly naive! Time to turn off the TV PROGRAMMING, the Government is a corporation, you aren't free, just because you keep being told you're and it's for your safety doesn't mean that's reality. You can't name one thing that's free to do, EVERYTHING is taxed, regulated, or against the law. Funny how people just keep begging to be regulated more when society has never been so regulated and it just keeps getting worse! That's insanity. People born into rich life long political families don't like you, when you have all the money and everything you could want what's next? There's only 2 things left POWER AND CONTROL. Your TV is brainwashing you, it keeps your mind stuck in insanely contradictory reality, when you can have your own thoughts it's so clear what's really going on... You have no choice, never have, it's all just the illusion of freedom. Sadly people are begging to be slaves and they don't even know it..

If a vehicle overheats when driving but cools down when stopped, double check to make sure the cooling fan is blowing in the right direction.
If it is blowing air through the radiator instead of sucking air through the radiator then it will overheat when you are driving because there is no air moving through the radiator. I learned this lesson the hard way!!!
And of course, if it is running lean then that will cause it to run hot too.

You shouldn’t need to run the Plaidessy in Cheetah stance at all. You will run sub 10s and get DQ’D with Cheetah. Just run it with a medium height suspension and back off a little to stay above 9.9. I really like the Corolla. That is pretty sick. I hope you get it running well.

I've come across this on quite a few aging ones, toyota, nissan, gm, etc, etc. Just a part of the design. Hopefully he has room for adjustment for now. I imagine finding a steering gear for it would be fun. Finding the correct one for my 82 720 pickup has been a chore without shipping mine out for remanufacturing

Mishimoto oil coolers are LITERALLY identical to G-Plus from what I can tell and they are 3-4X the price. All they do is slap an M on it. Their intercoolers and radiators are the same, Chinese rebrands, except possibly their X-Line and select products from what I can tell. We used a G-Plus on the rotary BRZ and we haven't had any issues with it. Made sure to hold the oil cooler side of the fitting while tightening the line like you mentioned. We did have an oil line failure and had a nearly identical incident. Sadly our engine had to be rebuilt, but now it's better than ever. Hope yours is okay! This car is super rad.

Sik week is supposed to be a complete endurance fight to the finish. I hate how a lot of people always rush to get a brand new build entered in to go every year. And every year the first day is chock full of oil downs, wrecks and broken parts. By the last day there’s usually only a fraction of drivers left who are still competing.. always makes the first day extra long with no second attempts really.. is not how it was when it started.. used to be a group of really good mechanics who nitpicked their cars all year trying to prove they made the more reliable and fastest shit..

Wyatt make some ducting to keep all that air from going around the radiator and a chin spoiler to direct air up through the core but dont forget to cap off the top of the core support or incoming air will just over shoot the radiator
