The Doors were founded by Ray Manzarek and Jim Morrison in Los Angeles in 1965. They released their eponymous debut album, which contained their hit single Light My Fire, in 1967 and went on to be one of the most controversial and influential rock acts of the sixties. Jim Morrison's early death in Paris in 1971 only served to fuel their legend and both he and the band have continued to enjoy iconic status for more than thirty years.
This incredible performance of Back Door Man is from the Eagle Vision DVD "Live in Europe", which is available now.
Morrison didn't try to dance. He just had a knack for moving, jumping, hopping, falling and screaming with the music. No other front man comes close. Even his own band members were said they would watch Morrison, because they never knew what he would do next.
I will always argue that Robbie Kreiger is one of the most underrated guitarists. EVER.
NEVER try to sing this unless you are this drunk, or in front of your dear grandmother.
It must have been a nightmare for the band to predict and play with Jim Morrison, lol
Every other band hated the doors because Jim was the embodiment of rock.
While other bands put on outfits, or makeup, or fireworks in order to convey that they were dangerous, when the doors played, you were seeing the real deal. They played from the depths. Each member had special skills, and they were completely fluid in setting the mood for, and with Jim. Their excellence lives on. Long live the doors.
I’m 38 now and Morrison is still the most enigmatic person I’ve ever read about.
the doors was the band that I was most involved with, Jim was very intelligent, knew the ancient Greek philosophy and poetry too, was a philosopher poet, knowledgeable of Nietzschean philosophy, which is not at all easy to understand, in my opinion, the doors was the best band that ever existed.
Nobody could sing as high as Jim, except Ozzy. Ozzy and David Yow could sing as drunk as well. Jim would think these "greatest all time" things are rather authoritarian, and linear....all time includes billions of years.....
This is beyond music; this is a soulful, carnal sermon. These guys made magic.
You don't make music for immortality,
Until a few years ago, we only read about these live performances but never actually saw them. I’m 36, so definitely was not around. With these UA-cam channels and uploads of live footage, we can finally see it happen. It’s all true! They put on quite a show!
Undescribable talent.....so blessed to grow up hearing such talent......Jim Morrison could be my back door man anytime!!❤
What I wouldn't trade to see a live Doors concert... What a trip
This entire band is just phenomenal. Jim Morrison just happened to be a giant of iconic front men.
THAT is how you mesmerize an audience. That place was silent during this performance.
a young and wild Jim Morrison, at his prime. love you Jim
Mesmerizing performance. Jim's the best looking sexiest guy in the world. Love The Doors.
Manzarek, Densmore and Krieger were consistently amazing musicians. They helped create the unique sound of the Doors
Their are no words to describe the feeling I get from this band. Just a fireball of energy . No words
