Willard's "how much do you think I can bench press" line is still one of my alltime favorites.
Documentary Now! has a few good mocumentaries as well. I don't like all of them, but some are absolutely brilliant.

Great to see an appreciation of the extended announcers scene with Fred Willard and Jim Piddock which just cracks me up every time. The whole film is great, of course, and endlessly watchable. My personal favourites by Christopher Guest are this one and the sublime A Mighty Wind.

I'm down with this one and A Mighty Wind too. I even just enjoy the soundtrack (had the CD), very catchy, kooky, and clever. Waiting for Guffman was a fairly original mockumentary when it came out, but is more uneven.

Fred Willard’s character reminds me very much of Joe Garagiola , who was one of the hosts years ago at the Westminster shows.
I’ll never forget how I laughed at one of his quips: “That Puli is a Komondor after taxes”.

There are certain movies that are so good and original that you remember so well the first time you saw them. This is certainly one of them. Oh, and your analysis is once again, spot on.

As a Scot who has a friend who breeds Dalmations and shows them at Crufts this is priceless. Fred Willard steals the movie.

Definitely a winner and the Guest movie where the entire ensemble had excellent, quirky characters with all having a chance to equally shine.

One of my favorite movies. Much like Mel Brooks, maybe a bit uneven, but when it's funny, it's _really_ funny.

Always loved Best in Show. I remember being a but underwhelmed with the next 2 Guest films but I think I’d appreciate them more now than I did as a teen/early 20s

    One of my favorite comedies.
Have you seen Christopher Guest's "Mascots"? It was a Netflix produced movie, again in the same style as the films you covered here. It's the only one of his mockumentaries I haven't seen.

thanks. I never have seen that. Will put it on my watchlist. I thought For Your Consideration was pretty good/watchable.
