(Montana, rice, sanders etc rookies)... waiting for football to dip so I can buy for upcoming season....the non sports card stuff has gotten stupid lately with a lot up 10x in the past month like Star Wars cards. Nothing makes much sense anymore

Here's something I wonder if anyone can explain to me: why are rookie cards in the NFL uniforms more valuable than college uniform rookie cards? I guess because I prefer college ball over the NFL, my personal preference is the college uni.
Ive branched out to all sorts of teams. Raven's cards will always my main PC but I picked about 40 or so targeted players i felt were under priced compared to their current abilities or projected abilities. Most are 2020 rookies as more established players have a more accurate market value. I was able to find a few from previous 3 years though. For example I've been finding and buying Calvin Ridley Donruss for around a $1. To me that card should be on par with the D.K. 2019 donruss. IMO Calvin Ridley runs the most crisp routes ive ever seen. I mean like Rice level. I know Atlanta is a crappy team but he is such a good player that at the very worst his card shouldn't go below that $1. I'm actually just cutting my second upload to my channel that goes over my strategy and what DFS techniques I've pulled into my investing. Not to step on your toes lol. Im not experienced enough to give other investors advice but maybe sharing my thoughts might give someone a different perspective to look a their investments.

The college ticket autos are going to be one of, if not the best card to pick up of him right now. Cards of him in pro uniform will be out sometime in September. Best time to likely buy pickens this year will be November -December unless he continues to become a household name
is this the disco parallel? I see one recently sold on ebay for $190, but its the no huddle disco emergent. If you have the base no huddle emergent PSA10 I still think you could get about $100 for it in January. so all in all somewhere between $100 and $200. unfortunately this is a fairly common insert from 2020 prizm with no serial number or autograph , or it would be worth ALOT MORE.
Rule #1 - Don't start with Football - It has the worst ROI of any sport - Mainly because of the NFL rookie rule - All those RC's and most of them will never play! Start with Hockey and make some $$$ first!
Great beginners video but I was hoping you would have gone more in depth about pop and when it makes sense to pay more for a variant with a lower pop count. Example: Russell Wilson Prizm Towel Up vs Towel Down.

If the price is right a great premium RPA set is national treasures, there RPAs seem to be worth more than prizm RPAs . I think it’s because people go to the base and silver prizms and their behavior when they think of RPA is a national treasures or Contenders or immaculate or origins
I really want to invest in Zach Wilson but I am unable to find any rookie cards with him in a Jets uniform yet. Have those just not been printed yet? I have a CJ Stroud rookie card where others are selling for 250-300 usd, it has no signatures on it, will the price go up if i have CJ sign it for me? If so, how much of a boost should i expect it to boost up?
If you can get him To auto it, you’ll have to get it authenticated by PSA or BGS and you’ll add several hundred dollars of value to it, like plus $250-$300
So a player like George Kittle is going to have an increase in his rookie cards value. He's been hurt for most of the last season so I would predict that he will probably have a great season coming in the next year. Meaning the hype for him will be high.
That is a great process decision but I would think investments would be QB WR RB then TE. Demand is going to be the lowest but right prices are right prices

Its all depends on what price point you buy in at, the year of prizm, position the player plays, How well did he play above and beyond the expectations going into the game? did his team also win? these are all questions youve got to ask and answer to determine if and how much a card like that will go up. you seem like you really want to accelerate your learning curve on this. Alright, after watching all this I still don’t understand what’s more valuable for mosaic. Base? Or the most off variant of mosaic for ex with the Jalen hurts example: #8 reactive gold is the most rare and most expensive
Most valuable will be the most rare variation . So for mosaic they have a gold mosaic numbered out of just 10 so that technically would be most valuable . If you could compare the selling of that (if you can find one) to a previous sale of that from Hurts or another player like Burrow, Herbert, or Tua then you can get an idea of the potential financial growth in it. In terms of getting the best value it all depends on the rareness and entry price point. I would stay away from base mosaic in most instances for most players. Thanks for sharing Wayne, I’ll have to do some more digging on the re-sale value of Obsidian RPAs compared to a contenders or national treasures. I think their cards look super cool though. I may order one just to hold it in my hands because it looks like a really well made card and love all the shiny on them, looks awesome to be honest! I actually was able to get my submissions in on Friday night! Just sent 5 cards to HGA (did the 60 day turnaround). I can wait- still waiting on 3 PSA submissions I sent thru my LCH this past summer.
Been seeing a lot of hype for Jonathan Taylor and deservingly so, but I think Cam Akers is right behind him. He’s gonna be a three down back. Might look like Todd Gurley in his prime in that Ram’s offense. Been buying him up lately.
Good advice for people still learning. I recall collecting in the 90's when inserts were most popular but learnt evenutally the best choices were rookie cards. I buy parallel versions of the rookies in modern sets but sometimes dont see its so wise. Its probably best to keep it simple and buy the base Rookie in the better products like Prizm and buy the occasional Auto card if the price is right.
EXACTLY Roly! I think Auto and RPA inserts are VERY SAFE, IF the price is right like you say but to be most liquid in the market go silver, team colors, or base
Great point Jan! getting raw meat in the wild at retail prices is VERY hard to do these days unfortunately... If your a collector these days, I feel its best to target singles , especially these beautiful sets like spectra and you get can get these amazing single cards of your favorite players for very cheap. I love that about my personal collection, but yea your right slim to no chance finding cards in retail anymore, and really expensive from panini ebay etc.
It’s probably a good investment long term but you’re gonna be paying up for that card right now it’s in a peak price. I would personally wait til May June they should dip and even October -November or if he doesn’t come out the gates guns blazing playing like he did at the end of last year they should dip all of which will be better times to buy that card then right now.
Nice video Andy! What's been your experience with Star Stock lately? I really believe they are slammed with the flood of cards being submitted. I sent two packages on the same date in early January- one to Stark Stock and one to COMC. COMC has already processed my submission and I'm still waiting for my cards to be uploaded to Starstock. That wasn't the case at the end of last year. I hope Starstock can speed up the process because that was one of their pros last year.

He was the 5th wide receiver but he beat out Robinson in the playoffs and he is only going to get better. He is a big body guy but he is pretty fast. He’ll probably be wide receiver 3 next year.

I was second at a Walmart and they limited it too two person per item, so it was a good hual. Been trying for a week now. If your not 1-3 at Target you may not get anything. Walmart is the wildwest.

What are your thoughts on Darnell Mooney rookies for the upcoming season, cheap right now and not hearing many people talking about him but had a big end to last season, I really like him for a breakout?
That’s a great sleeper pickup I’m just so concerned about the Bears as a whole right now. I like Mooney as a long term hold, but do we think Andy Dalton and the bears offense are going to get much hype leading into the season? It seems like more question marks than hype to me which means prices shouldn’t go up at all on them unless they actually play really well out the gate. I’m totally down with buying Mooney as a long term hold tho the dude reminds me of terry mclaurin kinda.

@@FootballCardQuest He's technically a free agent now, but I think the Chiefs will resign him since he's cheap. Keep in mind that the Chiefs are projected to be 18 million over the cap. So some cuts will occur. I predict the Chiefs may decide to get rid of Robinson, and Watkins. Or at least one of those two. Pringle will be cheap enough, and apparently Pringle has a good 40 4.46. So maybe he'll break out in some way. Though it's hard for me to see it turning out that way since the Chiefs haven't really done much with him so far. I think he has a chance at being the third position WR for the Chiefs though. Chiefs picked him up in 2018 when he went undrafted. So it's been a little while.

I have a 2011 Timeless Treasures Jason Witten card that’s autographed, but I don’t think it’s rare, and I have another one where he signed it and gave it to me in person and he put my name on it.

The most underrated "set" from the 80s AND 90s... SO many BIG NAME "rookie cards" and/or people who don't have cards ANYWHERE else... like Dart Champions or the Donkey Kong guy... too bad you won't find a full "set"/sealed box ever again... at least, one that's affordable... there's a sealed box on ebay right now for 5 or 6K... AND ITS WAY WORTH IT!!!
For example I got an auto of jeff okudah from a break. Then I bought a different auto of him for a good price imo, not sure if I should just sell those 2 together or maybe get a few more and lot them up
Yo! Ive seen it work well that way. Personally I like to sell all the cards I have of lesser demanded sets like absolute, rookies & stars, contenders, etc. in lots , sometimes you shake out to a pretty good resale value on lots, Ive seen it happen many times on ebay.

If the price is right a great premium RPA set is national treasures, there RPAs seem to be worth more than prizm RPAs . I think it’s because people go to the base and silver prizms and their behavior when they think of RPA is a national treasures or Contenders or immaculate or origins

Alright, after watching all this I still don’t understand what’s more valuable for mosaic. Base? Or the most off variant of mosaic for ex with the Jalen hurts example: #8 reactive gold is the most rare and most expensive
Most valuable will be the most rare variation . So for mosaic they have a gold mosaic numbered out of just 10 so that technically would be most valuable . If you could compare the selling of that (if you can find one) to a previous sale of that from Hurts or another player like Burrow, Herbert, or Tua then you can get an idea of the potential financial growth in it. In terms of getting the best value it all depends on the rareness and entry price point. I would stay away from base mosaic in most instances for most players. generally speaking, no they are not. Thanks for sharing Wayne, I’ll have to do some more digging on the re-sale value of Obsidian RPAs compared to a contenders or national treasures. I think their cards look super cool though. I may order one just to hold it in my hands because it looks like a really well made card and love all the shiny on them, looks awesome to be honest! Good advice for people still learning. I recall collecting in the 90's when inserts were most popular but learnt evenutally the best choices were rookie cards. I buy parallel versions of the rookies in modern sets but sometimes dont see its so wise. Its probably best to keep it simple and buy the base Rookie in the better products like Prizm and buy the occasional Auto card if the price is right.
EXACTLY Roly! I think Auto and RPA inserts are VERY SAFE, IF the price is right like you say but to be most liquid in the market go silver, team colors, or base

Great point Jan! getting raw meat in the wild at retail prices is VERY hard to do these days unfortunately... If your a collector these days, I feel its best to target singles , especially these beautiful sets like spectra and you get can get these amazing single cards of your favorite players for very cheap. I love that about my personal collection, but yea your right slim to no chance finding cards in retail anymore, and really expensive from panini ebay etc.
But his cards are expensive because like Kittle they are only in Contenders.

It’s probably a good investment long term but you’re gonna be paying up for that card right now it’s in a peak price. I would personally wait til May June they should dip and even October -November or if he doesn’t come out the gates guns blazing playing like he did at the end of last year they should dip all of which will be better times to buy that card then right now.
Nice video Andy! What's been your experience with Star Stock lately? I really believe they are slammed with the flood of cards being submitted. I sent two packages on the same date in early January- one to Stark Stock and one to COMC. COMC has already processed my submission and I'm still waiting for my cards to be uploaded to Starstock. That wasn't the case at the end of last year. I hope Starstock can speed up the process because that was one of their pros last year.

He was the 5th wide receiver but he beat out Robinson in the playoffs and he is only going to get better. He is a big body guy but he is pretty fast. He’ll probably be wide receiver 3 next year.

What are your thoughts on Darnell Mooney rookies for the upcoming season, cheap right now and not hearing many people talking about him but had a big end to last season, I really like him for a breakout?
That’s a great sleeper pickup I’m just so concerned about the Bears as a whole right now. I like Mooney as a long term hold, but do we think Andy Dalton and the bears offense are going to get much hype leading into the season? It seems like more question marks than hype to me which means prices shouldn’t go up at all on them unless they actually play really well out the gate. I’m totally down with buying Mooney as a long term hold tho the dude reminds me of terry mclaurin kinda.

Byron Pringle is a great buy he will be a bigger part of the offense and doesn’t have very many rookie cards because he was drafted so late.

@@FootballCardQuest He's technically a free agent now, but I think the Chiefs will resign him since he's cheap. Keep in mind that the Chiefs are projected to be 18 million over the cap. So some cuts will occur. I predict the Chiefs may decide to get rid of Robinson, and Watkins. Or at least one of those two. Pringle will be cheap enough, and apparently Pringle has a good 40 4.46. So maybe he'll break out in some way. Though it's hard for me to see it turning out that way since the Chiefs haven't really done much with him so far. I think he has a chance at being the third position WR for the Chiefs though. Chiefs picked him up in 2018 when he went undrafted. So it's been a little while.

Obviously, I want to sell while the card is on the rise but fear I will wait too long and the card drops fast and I miss my chance. FOMO :D I'm pretty new to all this. I collected years ago and just got back into it at the end of December with StarStock

I have a 2011 Timeless Treasures Jason Witten card that’s autographed, but I don’t think it’s rare, and I have another one where he signed it and gave it to me in person and he put my name on it.

The most underrated "set" from the 80s AND 90s... SO many BIG NAME "rookie cards" and/or people who don't have cards ANYWHERE else... like Dart Champions or the Donkey Kong guy... too bad you won't find a full "set"/sealed box ever again... at least, one that's affordable... there's a sealed box on ebay right now for 5 or 6K... For example I got an auto of jeff okudah from a break. Then I bought a different auto of him for a good price imo, not sure if I should just sell those 2 together or maybe get a few more and lot them up
Yo! Ive seen it work well that way. Personally I like to sell all the cards I have of lesser demanded sets like absolute, rookies & stars, contenders, etc. in lots , sometimes you shake out to a pretty good resale value on lots, Ive seen it happen many times on ebay.
