Fun fact: In Japanese, "ringo" means apple. So the two AI characters are named Apple and Fig, both of which feature prominently in Abrahamic mythology.
Although I think that "apple" only is part of the mythology as a result of the word for fruit being translated into Latin by the word "poma" which was later restricted to mean "apple," but in the original Hebrew and the early Greek editions, there is no apple. Just a fruit.
I think they should have localized the name to Apple… or something other then Ringo as whenever I hear that name I cant think of anyone but the Beatles.

Game is basically the definition of 7/10. Not bad but not great, just decent. You can tell it was almost an afterthought with a small budget but the team did what they could. Here’s to hoping we get another summoner/survivor, SJ or saga game
@@TheTrueAlpharius See, 5 is "painfully average". As in "It's not good, it's not bad, it just... I don't care about the critics review. I find enjoyment even with the most medicore jrpgs out there. Not every game has to be a AAA game to everyone. I'm just sick of everyone comparing the other Atlus games to Persona 5! Like every game from Atlus must be a Persona 5 quality! I love how they make each game unique and creative. This is why i love Atlus games. I bought the digital premium version and the Collector's edition to show my support. True, critics also said SMT V was just Persona five without heart. Another years ago called Etrian Odyssey the adventures of Fight and Heal. That's what happens when they have people who don't play niche genre's trying to review these types of games. Turns out if dont like dungeon crawly style games, you probably are gonna give them bad reviews regardless if they are good or not.
There is DLC to add a 5th member, though I havent gotten her yet because apparently she doesnt join until NG? Yes, Erik. Do their soul matrix's and all requests to get the best ending. You should grab up the DLC character if you do. You can also get DLC that lets you randomize the music with this games, Persona 4 and 5, Shin Megami 3,4, and 5 ect. And you will start to like Arrow and Raize more if you do their soul matrix's. All 3 characters have good story arcs.

Just fyi..i found out yesterday you can change the camera angle from Ringo to farther away and you can place her in the center of the screen instead of the default camera view under configuration. I prefer the farther away view.
Sounds good. I actually played Soul Hackers but its mechanics are painfully outdated, glad to see that's been fixed up. Mostly average reviews but it sounds like it's trying to bring Devil Summoner into the current century so that's admirable. Now let's see Devil Survivor 3. It's time.
from what i understand this game dosent happen in the same world as the other SH games (i could be wrong though) there are very few easter eggs for the other games but nothing amazing. great video my friend!
Thanks for covering this with your unique flair and passion :). The UI and color scheme reminds me a LOT of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. Haven't heard anyone else mention this in the vids I've seen.
Hopefully, the Steam version will get tweaked so when I get home in a few weeks, it'll run great on the Deck that's waiting for me there. That being said, it is waiting for me on my Series X as well.
Just set the camera to have Ringo at the center of the screen then set it to be as far from her as possible and there you go. Infinitely better visibility !
Same composer as Nier Automata? Seems worth buying for that alone. Kinda appreciate the game length tbh. 60 hours seems about perfect to me. Unless it's really, really good. Then games start to outlive their welcome to me at that point.
Jajaja que pedo, the middle finger strategy worked fine huh?! Fantastic, now we need a strange journey 2 with the same characteristics as this SH2, atlus is really spoling us PC players nowadays and I'm grateful for it.
I've been enjoying the heck out of it, but that Entrance to the Axis that you have to pass through before getting to the Soul Matrix is just brutal. Wait for loading screen to get into The Axis, then immediately you're just hitting the button to get to the Entrance where you actually DO stuff. They could have moved the "talk to Flamma" option to something in the Entrance and saved us all that 10 seconds every time we went to the Soul Matrix.
Did you know that you can skip the loading screens, respectively the tool tips in the loading screen? There is a option for it in the option menu. Reduce the waiting time from 10 seconds to 2 for me.
I don't know about it focusing on her ass. It's a third person game. They're always from behind. The focus is on what is immediately in front of them, since that's what's in the middle of the screen, framed by the character model, her sword and the UI. (Cut scenes appear to be a different story, tho.)
Very enjoyable video man! Glad that Atlus decided to take a better approach with you. You are one of the most outspoken and enthusiastic advocates for the genre.
It doesn't look as good as SH1. I really dig the cyberpunk aesthetics of the first game. I'm still interested on this though. Might pick it up on black Friday sales.
I think it's funny how much you love the sword slashing away enemies when I think the first time they used that mechanic was in a game you despise - Tokyo Mirage Sessions
near the end of the review now and wow, they really took a lot of aspects from TMS' dungeon crawling and polished them up. I still think I prefer TMS's battle system to this one but I'm glad they're not letting the good ideas from that game go to waste (also after this I have to assume the reasons you don't like TMS are the characters/story and J-Pop lol)
6:45 It is not like All Out Attack in Persona games its more like Demon Coop from Strange Journey, because YOUR DEMONS doing AoA like in SJ not party members like in Persona games. This is huge diffirence. Even u have Commander Skills from Strange Journey Redux ...
I think this game is good. I'm a long time SMT fan. What I don't like about this game is the fact that it tried hard to be P5. Some soundtracks were from P5. This game should have its own identity. I can imagine the P1 remake to be something like this.
This was always a maybe game for me but when I first watched some gameplay it was out of question for me. Not because I didn't like the gameplay (didn't even get that far) but because the developers made a grave mistake: the text in the HUD, the menus and subtitles is way too small. I'm not able to read it on the screen I play my games on. That's an absolute no-go especially since many developers think about disabled people with either bigger or size adjustable text.
Wow a balance game??? That e plain why some smt "fans" did not like it and would not surprise me if some reviewer gives a bad score just because is not persona 6
You cant compare those games - SH2 is typical JRPG with ,,human party'', when SMT V is monster collection game. Should be: TMS or SH2, SMT V or SMT III/SMT IV/SMT IV Apo
This game have 4 difficulty setting EASY, NORMAL, HARD, VERY HARD. From what i heard difficulty is something between Persona and SMT, dungeons are not that complicated like in Nocturne or Strange Journey. Dont worry Atlus ended making hard games after SMT IV Apocalypse / Strange Journey Redux, even SMT V was easy game (still bit harder than Persona).

I just rather support struggling companies than Namco Bandai or EA that squander money and ruin small developers. Etrian Odyssey IV is easily one of my top 5 favorite games of all time.
I was going to skip this, your review has convinced me to buy it
Hide the Loading Screen in Config to decrease loading times to near instant.
If an ass in the camera is your first complaint, that's a VERY good sign.
Thanks for covering this with your unique flair and passion :). The UI and color scheme reminds me a LOT of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. Haven't heard anyone else mention this in the vids I've seen.
Holy crap… my guy is about to hit 100k subscribers.
Hopefully, the Steam version will get tweaked so when I get home in a few weeks, it'll run great on the Deck that's waiting for me there.
That being said, it is waiting for me on my Series X as well.
I was waiting on you to talk about this
OH also!!! add a no spoiler in the title somehow!!! it may help bring views!!! love the channel and wanna see it grow!
No lie I love the dungeon crawler first person I think it's what makes the Smnt series
Still waiting for devil survivor 3
Just set the camera to have Ringo at the center of the screen then set it to be as far from her as possible and there you go.
Infinitely better visibility !
Same composer as Nier Automata? Seems worth buying for that alone.
Kinda appreciate the game length tbh. 60 hours seems about perfect to me. Unless it's really, really good. Then games start to outlive their welcome to me at that point.
Make more reviews, Landon! This one was great! Of course I like your Top 10 stuff, but, maybe it's time move your Chanel to a other directions.
Today I just got my copy.
Jajaja que pedo, the middle finger strategy worked fine huh?! Fantastic, now we need a strange journey 2 with the same characteristics as this SH2, atlus is really spoling us PC players nowadays and I'm grateful for it.
*is a good starting point for new players*
*It will get better once you play the other titles from the other series*
*Personal score:7/10*
@@Ryu_Teruyama . . . . You're a goddamn miracle worker.
@@ryanwatters7193 You're welcome :)
Saizo Soul Matrix Sector 3F - if you know, you know
I don't know about it focusing on her ass. It's a third person game. They're always from behind. The focus is on what is immediately in front of them, since that's what's in the middle of the screen, framed by the character model, her sword and the UI. (Cut scenes appear to be a different story, tho.)
You can adjust the camera more far away from the character in the Options menu by the way.
This is in my backlog for sure.
Very enjoyable video man! Glad that Atlus decided to take a better approach with you. You are one of the most outspoken and enthusiastic advocates for the genre.
I loved P5 and SMTV, so I absolutely have to get this at some point.
Looks very cool. It's on my list for sure.
Yeah, Soul matrix's progress affects the ending (or so I was said, I just started)
It doesn't look as good as SH1. I really dig the cyberpunk aesthetics of the first game. I'm still interested on this though. Might pick it up on black Friday sales.
For whoever needs to hear it: Gamestop got PS5s in stock today. I don't know how many, but the one closest to me Spokane, WA) got 10.
My copy is coming through the mail by tonight.
LETS GO LETS GO
Great video
6:45 It is not like All Out Attack in Persona games its more like Demon Coop from Strange Journey, because YOUR DEMONS doing AoA like in SJ not party members like in Persona games. This is huge diffirence. Even u have Commander Skills from Strange Journey Redux ...
I think this game is good. I'm a long time SMT fan. What I don't like about this game is the fact that it tried hard to be P5. Some soundtracks were from P5. This game should have its own identity. I can imagine the P1 remake to be something like this.
Yo people's. When you all get a chance, check out this game called honkai : star rail....it looks really dope 😁👍
what happened to the intro song?
I have been loving Soul Hackers 2. I don’t know why people think every game needs to be SMT or Persona.
I remembered demon summon or devil survivor on ds. But I never heard of this series
Thank you
Eric arent you going to talk about penny blood and armed fantasia?
Wow a balance game??? That e plain why some smt "fans" did not like it and would not surprise me if some reviewer gives a bad score just because is not persona 6
Indeed.
You legit sold me.
Between this and xenoblade 3, I haven’t put both down
I wish they would port the first game on modern consoles and pc, just so fans can have both games at hand.
Just wait one year later
is your doom shirt the English punk band or the Japanese industrial-esque rock band?
(All jokes aside) But the camera angle doesn’t look bad? 🤷♂️
I’m here after watching larrue's video
Overall which one is better, Soul’s Hacker 2 or SMT V?
You cant compare those games - SH2 is typical JRPG with ,,human party'', when SMT V is monster collection game. Should be: TMS or SH2, SMT V or SMT III/SMT IV/SMT IV Apo
Gameplay SMT V, characters Soul Hackers 2, I love a voiced protagonist like Ringo.
@@ZSleepingDragonZ thank you guys
SH2, I'd say. Say what you will about it, it actually has a story
do we tho ?
How hard is this game? I love turn based jrpgs but I usually don’t like hard games like the main SMT titles
@@nr2676 thx man, gotta give it a try then 😀
@@nr2676 so a "very hard" is easier than smt 4?
@@Vodoriga I dont know, but due to ,,Persona'' battle system, no hama/mudo, and Commander Skills propably yes.
@@VodorigaNot by much. It's definitely much harder than SMT IV past Naraku, and SMT IV Naraku is on par with difficulty
What shirt are you wearing?
How long did it take you to beat?
you know what game remind the navigation camera?....
Time & eternity xD
Insane ps and xbox have unleashed games like wukong ff16 pragmata senua saga starfield project eve forspoken yet switch can't run game like soul hacker 2. Nintendo desperately need new more powerful hardware soon
This is Not Soul Hacker
This is Persona but we Devil Summoner Reference (D.S 1997)
This is true, but I'll take it. Soon everything from atlus will beasically be persona. Its the only things that sales.
No.
Wrong
Nice video
