Reaper imo is much more customizable. Reaper 10 years ago is not what it is today. It’s $60. It’s a small file size so you can carry the whole DAW around with you on a thumb drive. I can’t say anything bad about studio one. It’s nice. But I personally like Reason. It fits my needs. @@Echo-nn8dt

Totally agree big studios for music and instruments but just for vocals if you have a really really good mic and a good pc its all what you need. Every day im more impresed with songs that were made in home studios, also mixed and mastered, as mine, but top of the world too

I started in ProTools because my best friend had it. Moved to Logic Pro X when I got my own studio in 2019 because of it versatility and pricing. If I had to pick another DAW I would rock with it would be Cubase by Steinberg.
I’m using the T8Vs for my reference monitors (started last year doing audio) I do live sound engineering for a living, and I’ve been in studios just to hang out and heard different speakers…. Adam Audio is a beast, it’s so accurate even in the lower end models (T8V)…. For me pairing thise with the T10 sub it’s amazing, I’m getting a clear representation of the audio spectrum and my mixes are clean, and the room I’m in is not acoustically treated. I’m using Logic, all plugins are stock (I’m not investing money into this side of engineering until I get better first) and I must say for someone that started last year my mixes sound good. So when people ask me how you get it to sound like that I tell them I approach it the same way I approach live sound because that’s all I know at the moment. Two completely different worlds but I’m using what I have at my disposal. 🤷🏾♂️
Yes sir! I myself am heavily in the live sound world also and a lot of these 2 worlds do collide in similarities. Gain structure, microphone placement, etc. The main difference is the space and feedback lol .
As far big studios go, I believe that rock, jazz and other forms of live music will come out better in a major space. Especially if the band likes to record in real time with fewer overdubs.
Bro i recorded 10000 songs without latency on ableton! (with tune comp and eq in the chain while recording) Not even one single track feels with latency in the vocals after i recorded and processed everything. And the comping in Ableton 11 is all what Live was missing ❤ Fl Studio users not being honest with their daw that was funny 😂😂😂
I definitely figured out my problem, it was something on my end in my master bus chain that was contributing to the audible latency! But for sure, our comping functionality is definitely up there, I’d say right with Logic
@@thatcourtneytaylor yasss it happened to me too sometimes and I had to go looking for the plug-in that was causing the latency, if you leave the cursor on the plug-in it shows you how many latency adds to the project, I discovered that last year!

Fyi Cubase was the first DAW. Steinberg also created vst plugins, everytime you use one Steinberg (Cubase) gets paid 🤷🏾♂️. Also, the first virtual sampler was Halion by Steinberg. Also the melodyne integration that he's talking about in pro tools has been available in other daws it's called ARA and has been a part of Cubase for 2 versions 🤷🏾♂️. I could go on 🤣

Assuming you have a pretty powerful computer of course lol. But yea, big large format studios can still be in it, as you said, if you're trying to record a band or something acoustics(drums, guitars, choirs, etc).
CAkewalk had the Melodyne integration years before Studio One. They laughed at Cakewalk but they had drag and drop way before Studio One. In terms of technological breakthroughs Cakewalk was doing it a long time ago. Shame it was laughed at.

I create and mix in logic. I record vocals and edit for precision in Protools. I got CLA-10 speaks last year for mixing. It took a while for me to get use to them. I was worried I wasted money but they are my A speakers for mixing.

Just worked a month at a large studio in The Bahamas and some engineers came over with 25 to 30 year experience and they only worked on the NS-10's. The high quality mains were only for client reference listening moments! It's all about the MIDS!! Low and High!! Side note all club speakers are MONO
This plus the fact that the vast majority of people don't have proper stereos these days, but rather have small Bluetooth speakers, listen on phones, or off computer speakers is why I'm of the opinion that we should all be making our mixes mono. Your intention for a sound to impart a certain amount of energy via making it wide in the stereo gets completely missed by most listeners these days due to this.
In ableton put your audio interface on direct monitoring then make sure the auto button is checked then arm your track and you’re good to go!!! And also use a low buffer size 128 or 256. Bless

If more FL users understood how to use the routing system then we wouldn’t get clowned on so bad. What people don’t understand is how incredibly simple it is compared to other DAWs yet very few FL users get it because it’s mostly producers that aren’t worried about signal flow as long as their 808 go boom.
Levins, FL 21 is focusing on engineering. You will be able to gain stage your vocal clips and automatically cross fade them. Engineering wise we will be able to track half way decent with this update. Also we will finally have custom theme creation. Allegedly it should be here around 2023.
Of course they are. For a beat maker who maybe records vocals they're not. But for bands, orchestral and also an artist who has the budget and understands the benifits of recording and mixing through the best gear, then they are definitely still relevant and always will be. The UAD C-Suite Vocal plugin is the best I've tried in room & resonance correction. Haven't tried the Clarity yet but looking forward to trying it!

In Ableton you can fix the recorded latency by recording two tracks at the same time and have one tracks monitoring to off and not in or auto
Nuendo and Cubase all the way when it comes to recording, mixing and mastering. Vari audio comes standard and it's as good as melodyne if not better

The workaround for Ableton latency is to make a dedicated monitoring track and a separate track to record arm with monitoring turned off
