Just watched this on Halloween Night. Smoked Haunted Bookshop in my grandfather's "Creepy face" pipe. I've never enjoyed Haunted Bookshop... until tonight. Thank you Matches!! Happy Halloween!!
Great story. We have a lot of headless ghosts in the UK. Partly because it one of the common forms of execution was beheading with an axe. Thank you for your Halloween tales.
Wow ,what a story, You John seem to be familiar with your State and County History, Thanks for sharing . I'm to check out that another one as well, Greets,P
Makes my Halloween listening to your stories, thanks John! Halloween is great in the UK 🇬🇧 but I’d love to see how it’s done properly one year and visit the USA 🇺🇸 over Halloween 🎃👍 hope you and yours are well!!
Great story, You remind me of a fellow from Michigan that i worked in the boat industry in the early 80's, New to pipe smoking and am currently smoking a Missouri Meerschaum Original with the bent stem, Smoking Half and Half, So far not to bad, Need to concentrate of puffing slower . Looking foward to more videos, Subbed you, God bless.
Shes getting some nice color to her John. I acquired another clay the other day. Gotta get it out myself and get it smoking. Great story. Happy Halloween.
John... I got behind on my video watching... I'm glad I went back to watch this one... great story! Btw... you never said if they found the gold?? Is there still a treasure out there that's missing?
So, here's the deal. The innkeeper killed the Frenchman, but the story I read said it was because the innkeeper was loyal to the crown. One would assume the innkeeper kept/used the gold, but the written account never mentioned it. Your guess is as good as mine.
Hey John its Ralph, I'm loving your stories man, my wife absolutely loves your voice!! She said it is so calming and deep LOL.... I actually have a 14 inch Tavern pipe a friend got for me in Williamsburg VA. I was always wondering what I should smoke in it... something authentic!
Interesting you mention that Mike, a normal days ride back then was about 18 miles. Even today, beyond Canton heading west is all woods for miles, so I don't think he had any other options.
Hey John! Thanks for yhe stories ! Wonder how much that account influenced Washington Irving's "The Ledg?end of Sleepy Hollow"; if at all. Hope Mrs. Matches is doing better. Have you tried Sutliff's 515 RC ato see how close it comes to the beloved Mc Clelland's 5100
Thanks for sharing, John. We miss you. RIP 👍🔥🍂
Awesomeness.... Have a wonderful Halloween 🎃

Good Luck puffing slower! I still have to concentrate on slowing it down, which is very difficult when making a video, but at other times I do ok.
Wonderful!

Although I don't need any more pipes at my age, I may very well get a 4 or 5 inch clay.
🎃Spooky👻 Connecticut! I love it! Have a nice & safe Halloween (and don't lose yer head)🎃👻🎃👻🎃
ooh I wonder if this inspired Washington Irvings, Legend of Sleepy Hollow!
You smoking that clay makes me feel bad. I broke my two weeks ago. :(
Sorry to hear that Bro!
Excellent!

Huh! Might have to follow the horseman one night... might lead you to riches!!
Good idea, he might still be carrying it.
Great story! About how long of a smoke do you get from your clay pipe from the video it doesn't look the bowl is too large.
Usually 15-20 mins for me if it's Virginia leaf. Bowls were made small back then because tobacco was a luxury item.
I figured it was a shorter smoke, I really love the way they look I gotta pick one up soon! Would be nice to have in the collection.
Good vid Matches. Thanks. Have a great week.
Another great Halloween treat 🎃🎃🎃
Great stories👍👻☠️💀
MATCHESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS 860 ‼️ ‼️ 👹👹🎃🎃🎃👹👹🎃🎃🎃outstanding John....have a great Halloween my friend

Hi Ralph, I'm going to tell my wife that's she's full of sh*t, I do have a nice voice LOL.
Poor guy! He should have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express! 👻🎃😁

Have not tried it yet but have been told that it's even better.
The horse must be headless too.🤪
Have you thought of doing a video with a pipe talking about the dangers of cigarettes compared to pipes
No, it's sort of like a beer drinker mocking whiskey LOL.
I'll bet that pipe smokes wonderfully!
Yes it does, I don't really understand how/why we converted to briar.
Dang son, how in the heck are you not getting tongue bite from thst Virginia?! You smoke heck of fast!!!
Oh, that was not so scary but still a good storie :))
Great story! Will you be giving out samples of Haunted Bookshop to trick or treaters this Halloween?😃
Ha,ha it's lights out for us this year...we're all done with that.
Looks like your smoking a stick LOL
