    I appreciate seeing the subtle differences in each applicator. Equipment does evolve as discoveries are always made when people try to achieve “something different.” Therefore the domed sponge does surpass the original flat blenders as a natural course of discovery. (The alcohol inks are going crazy with new formulas and additives.) I love it all! Preference would be the effect I want. Best all round are the makeup brushes and the Nuvo soft soft blenders. Thanks oodles for doing the comparison vid!

    People should know that the foams from Ranger and Scrapbook.com are interchangeable, so if you already have lots of the ranger tool, as I do, you can just buy the domed foams instead of starting over.

    Thanks Tiffany. I’m loving your channel! I have the original Tim Holtz blending tool, Tim Holtz blending brushes, and the Makeup brushes from Amazon. The makeup brushes are my favorites and the Tim Holtz brushes are my least favorite (in case anyone was curious). I like to blend my oxides on strathmore Bristol smooth. I’d love to see a comparison video of different dye inks if you pick up the Catherine Pooler inks. I really need someone to talk me out of buying more inks!

    I love all the different types of brushes/foam. Each one is perfect for different types of mediums that you use. Or the type of ink/paint you use. I want to get and try the dome foams. It's funny how when you're working on a project, you automatically know which one you want to reach for. This is very helpful still, thank you for sharing.

    Really nice video! i just like to mention i am surprised by your comments on the make-up brushes giving a heavy inked result. I always use them for subtle results, it's simply a matter of not putting much ink on them. I just rub back and forth once and just have a little bit of ink and re-ink when i have none left on it. I think this applies to all the brushes, less ink means more subtle results. The sponges you need more ink on or you'll get spots and streaks, so those are naturally more saturated.

    I plan to get the domed tool from Scrapbook.com, I have some of the others, have 2 of the brand-name make-up brushes and got some smaller ones from a dollar store. I look forward to seeing these new brushes that you shared that are coming. Excellent job. This is one of my first videos of yours that I have watched. I always appreciate seeing videos like this because it helps me see how each of these brushes will work best and how to achieve a particular look. I absolutely love the colors you have used, they are favorites of mine too. I tend to work on my own and watch videos to learn as I deal with health issues that make it tough to get to classes all that often, so I am especially grateful to get assistance like this, to help me manage my crafting budget which grows smaller as prices go up. Thank you again. I definitely liked the domed tool and the blending make-up brushes, but to create a very subtle background, I did like the Nuvo and the Scrapbook.com big brushes. Thank you for showing blending with both stencils and on their own, very educational and very clear to see which is best.
    I live in Canada, and so the shipping prices and how each company ships (with USPS vs UPS, etc as some of the courier companies charge large brokerage fees, others do not), Scrapbook.com has good shipping prices, Gina K Designs has great pricing but they will not ship cardstock to anywhere but the US and they have fantastic cs although I live close enough to the US border that I can have a parcel sent to a US address and go and pick it up but I only do that for very special occasions now. Simon Says Stamp tends to be my go-to for shipping to me here but they don't tend to have great sales although I love the SSS brand of products and they do offer 30% on SSS products around Black Friday and other sales at times. I don't have a local shop anymore, but when I am across the border, I LOVE Buffalo Stamps 'n Stuff, it's a wonderful store and if I lived closer, I likely would get involved in taking courses there.
    I personally would love to see more videos like this, it was extremely helpful for me to see the individual differences using the various inks you used--oxide vs die inks.
    Thanks again, Tiffany,
    Joanne

    You can get the same brush that Pink & Main is coming out with on Amazon for $8.99. Its called a Flat Kabuki Brush and yes it works great for blending. I checked out the one from Pink & Main at Simon Says Stamps...they are identical...other than having the name on the holder.
    Yes...I stuck with you through the entire video...thank you for your demonstration.

    My personal opinion is not all makeup brushes are created equal, but they all work. Five below and walmart ones get the job done but the taylored expressions ones are definitely an upgrade. The dome tools are a must have but I still use the tim holtz ones.

    Thanks, I loved seeing the differences not only with the applicators but the inks... I have a few makeup brushes, I like them, but I find myself still reaching for my TH applicators... I have a bunch of stipple brushes (never used; they came with something or other some time back), I think I'm going to try them and see what happens...

      I found some at a dollar store in Canada, a set of 4 brushes--3 were smaller and one was more of a medium size but all were different sizes, spent $4 Cdn and they looked very similar to the set of 2 I bought at a make 'n take at a stamping show in Buffalo for $13 US that were brand name. I haven't played with the dollar store ones yet but I have heard from others that they work just as well as the brand name... Worth spending a few dollars at first to try the cheaper ones, I think. Just a thought...

  • @sharongullikson2121
    @sharongullikson2121 4 роки тому

    I'd like to try the dome one. I have several different types of brushes and foam ones (Tim Holtz). I haven't perfected the makeup brushes yet. I bought 2 different brands of cheapos, and then the Picket Fence ones. I think that I prefer the cheapos over the PF ones. The rectangular foam is my least favorite maybe (TH). The round is ok. I also have the TH brushes (9 or so). I'm not very good at blending with any of the tools, so part of the problem is me. The other problem is maybe the paper I use. I should try the Neenah. People keep mentioning it. So glad that you did this video. I would love to see a video using different papers.....

    • @Tiffany.Solorio
      @Tiffany.Solorio  4 роки тому

      I will gather as many papers as I can find and get a video together. A lot of people use Bristol smooth cardstock or mixed media paper too. I will try them all. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.

    • @sharongullikson2121

      I think that the reason the stencil makes it easier is: the tool glides over the plastic stencil. It doesn't hit the paper as hard from the get go.

    Tsukineko finger daubers is my favourite, but it have to be Tsukineko. All other finger daubers I have tried are made of plastic sponge and is, in my opinion, awful. But I, for the most, only use them to ink edges with permanent ink (Versafine) and I burn through a lot of them. I would like to see a comparison with them involved.

    This was a fantastic video, so helpful! I wonder if the Scrapbook.com tops fit on the Ranger bottoms?? Also, I’m pretty sure it’s okay to get dye inks on the Oxide pads because they are both dyes and pigments, so they already have dye based inks in them. The main thing is not to get the Oxides into the regular Distress because that will ruin the ink pad. I’m definitely going to get the ergonomic handle tool from Pink and Main. It looks amazing!

    • @Tiffany.Solorio
      @Tiffany.Solorio  4 роки тому

      Yes the domes fit on the ranger round handles. Makes sense about the inks. hehehe. Thank you. I got the Pink and Main one from SSS and also got one off of Amazon to compare them. There is only a $1 difference so if they perform the same I would for sure support the craft company. Thanks so much!

    Hi Tiffany, I have a love-hate relationship with the ranger blending tool. I always have to glue the Velcro on the actual tool and the foam pads fall apart very easily by having the black cloth fall right off and then I have to throw it away! Is this typical or have I been getting bad batches? Can I use the scrapbook.com sponges with the ranger handles and do they have the same issue? Thanks very much for your video, I really enjoyed it🙂
