- I tried Cuban food for the first time and it was amazing. I’m definitely going to try more of the food from Cuba and this restaurant was in St Augustine Florida. It’s called Paladar Cuban Eatery in Butler beach.

Yuca is a tropical tuber, also known as cassava. Tapioca is a processed form of yuca.
Black beans and rice is (are?) called "Moros y Cristianos" in Cuba. It translates to "Moors and Christians."

A Cuban sandwich is the Florida State sandwich. When you go to a good restaurant they make it really good.
We even have guava and cream cheese pies at McDonald's here in Florida. So good. Better than the apple pie in my opinion

@@Irish-JesusYou can get the guava paste in many supermarkets, in the Hispanic foods aisle. You could take it home because it's packaged and eat it with cheese at home. Also, because you're close to Dublin, I'm sure there must be a Brazilian or Latin-American restaurant somewhere in Dublin that will have it on a menu.
Another similar paste is quince, also eaten with cheese.
The guava is a favorite tree of islander kids. It grows up in a "Y" shape so kids love putting bands around the tree, then using it as a giant slingshot to shoot small rocks at birds.

I grew up in Miami. A good medianoche (Cuban sandwich), good morros (black beans and rice), a good empanada, and good flan... ambrosia.

Dominicans do a moro con coco. Any kind of legume (beans, pigeon peas, etc),ut the rice is cooked with coconut milk (NOT sweet cream, the milk)

Funny - I just had Cuban food for the first time Wednesday. A couple guys at work wanted to go and try it. I got a "Miami Curry Burrito". It was very good, but it tasted like Indian curry. I'm not sure I got something that's really Cuban. Also, it was huge, so I broke it in half. The half I ate at the restaurant was almost all rice, very little pork. I didn't like that. But the other half, which I just ate from the fridge, was where all the pork was. So, I woulda been happy if I just mixed both halves together.
Trying new food can be an experience alright haha 😝
Ahhh, just grand, Paul. Last time I had a good Cuban sandwich was a few years ago in Ybor City, last time I had a good Cuban cigar too! Hope yer well. Happy New Year.

I've had Cuban food many times. Much is very similar to Spanish dishes or Mexican dishes. My faves are of course a "Cuban" sandwich, arroz con pollo, and Daiquiri for a drink. Thanks for this, aways fun to see you when you are in Florida, lol! I hope you can visit some other states/places in the US that you haven't been to before this upcoming year. ~Be Blessed
