Wow, this is fantastic. As the BAR F1 Composites Project Leader I was managing parts for JB's F1 car & got to meet him. Such a great bloke. If only I was a bit younger I would have applied to join you both immediately. But buying bits for JB's F1 cars takes it's toll LOL, he needed lots of parts ;-) So pleased to see this new company & I will watch avidly. Very best wishes from an old colleague. Its great how the world now understands how high calibre and smart an engineer Ant Anstead really is and all his hard work now paying off... Plus he's a very interesting personality!
I'm compelled to remark that to the contrary, i.e "the world" never thought any less of him to be seen as such, which then to wit, by FLIPPING heck, nullifies your said before and after as his status quo [LOL]
So after all his exhausting banter, just where are all the completed cars & happy customers who previously put down their deposits...???

Boutique auto startups seem to come and go with the seasons. But I genuinely hope these guys make a successful go at it. California needs a revival of its sports car roots.
I've followed this project since day one and it is still one of my favorite supercars. Beautiful and functional.
Lotus also collaborated with proton in Malaysia

I know it's nitpicky but the welds on the gold gusset plates in the engine bay 5:42 are not great looking for something on display, details count at this level.
0:38....Oh look, that's the very same unfinished 62-2 chassis Ant Anstead pretended to be working on for his Instagram post when receiving the fake note saying how successful the first episode of his new TV show was when screened in the UK...ironically it was posted on the very day Radford went in administration...🤔
So in 4 months there was ZERO build progress on that vehicle...
Would be interesting to hear from Goodwood about this interview piece also, it looks an expensive feature & presumably it was commissioned by, & paid for by Radford themselves, even though they knew how precarious the state of the business was...?

Feels like its a bit of a disservice to Lotus and Jubu when they are talking about making a car "from the ground up"
Anstead certainly has a convincing, non-stop, passive yet forceful ramming of information & self-capability about him, & perhaps that is the problem within Radford & it's current troubles.
Anybody else would have been celebrating & singing from the rooftops about an official tie-in with Lotus Cars...🤔

Sadly gone bust without any deliveries, being sued by buyers for the return of sizable deposits.
Well, according to an earlier Radford press release, one customer DID receive his 62-2, a Mr. Shashi Reddy took delivery of his car, but it's the blue & silver one sat in the far corner of the Radford fake workshop used in this interview, so clearly he didn't have it for long...or it was just yet another Radford PR stunt at a prestigious car show, with the now familiar obligatory Ant Anstead in every pic also !?! 🤔💸🙄

What could these two have offered Porsche...?!? They have no staff, no workers, no workshops or facilities, & Porsche have a long list of tuners & proper coachbuilders they can call upon..
Were they watching a different Pike's Peak to the one I saw? I distinctly remember the Radford finishing in 8th place, 17 seconds behind a 1995 BMW M3, 47 seconds behind a Transit Van and almost a whole minute behind the winner, but they seem to think it did really well.
Ant - "I've got kids with American accents, drives me crazy". Funny stuff, and I guess that's part of our special relationship 😁
I think the color of Ant's hair tells the whole story. Let's hope he's still got some left by the time they become a viable business.
I think the fact he feels he has to give the Lotus name some shade barely scratches the surface of something must have gone on behind-the-scenes over this car & the (former...?) partnership between Lotus Cars & Radford Motors....🤔🤔🤔

For what it's worth not repeating what I can state before the main stream watershed event of the trending automotive phenomena already underway in the particular contextual lineage of the Supercar and Hypercar connect into this emerging pattern of fabricated automotive nostalgia with endpoint materially thoroughbred character free of whatever you make here set in square brackets [replica, kit, classic, reproduction, imitation, update, upgrade, etc]; this one British
It looks like a well-engineered and put together car. I have the greatest respect for the Radford brand and its history and I hope you will succeed. However, I'm sorry to say, that shape to me looks dreadful. Such a wasted opportunity. Just look at the gorgeous Emira. I am so surprised you ended up with such a design.
It's definitely a personal vanity project for the Radford directors, & designer Mark Stubbs really should have called in a bit more ex-Lotus help other than just Martin Ware...Peter Stevens, Julian Thompson or Steve Crijns could have really made that car very exciting...

I'm guessing the rest of the family didn't want the Radbourne name being used...
For me the color of the car they have now as their showcase car and the rim color does not do the car any justice. It is dull and not anything special. When you have a dark color it hides the design. I do like the original old Gold Leaf livery colors from Lotus. I know Radford made a 62 car with those colors. That highlights the design much better. Something about the maroon and black rim color does not give me the wow factor. Maybe its is the dark color but the white color that surrounds the front head lights takes away from the design too. I know Ant moved to California to shoot Wheelers and Dealers when Edd China left the show and that was filmed around the Costa Mesa/Newport area of California. This is just my two cent opinion. I am one that has loved sports cars since 1962. I wish Ant and Jenson the best with their new car company and having a go at it in California. I have always been a fan of a manual car vs the F1 paddles and I hope they produce all their cars with a manual transmission.
This project got too ambitious was too fast. i feel sorry for the buyers already if they ever get to see a complete car without teething gremlins for the rest of the vehicles life 😞😞😞. So many red flags with this guy (not Jenson)
I seriously hope they actually make a successful run though, because it's seriously one of the most beautiful designs out.
In today's market, you either go big or go home ( to repeat a phrase). It really takes balls to want to do something everybody else poo-poo's also. There is probably enough room in the niche market to make this viable as long as you can deliver. I say bravo to both for trying .
@@mrmoss149 Wrong. You don't have to go big in volume or company size, you just have to have a small group of committed billionaire customers. Pagani, Koenigsegg, basically all supercar manufacturers not part of one of the major corporations succeed with that model.
@pistonburner6448 As Radford in administration has now proven, customers won't pay big $$$'s for a Lotus-based coach-built boutique road car.

One needs big money backing to develop & build low volume vehicles. It’s a “Money Pit”.
Lotus resold bare Radford chassis to Lotus dealers... one on order is already 8 months late... Not sure things are going swell at this company...

@@harald.370 The idea was there would be 62no. 62-2's produced, & unless Lotus Cars got caught up in a rare moment of nostalgia, it's hard to believe they committed to this one-off small production-run project for an unproven new start-up coachbuilder without a firm guarantee & payment upfront.....But the reality is.....
@@harald.370 they mention in this video they are now using a carbon chassis, so I would guess those aluminium Evora based chassis are no longer needed.

A lot of people are clearly not buying into this, me included. This re-use of a 1960’s coachbuilder name made famous by their 1960s Mini conversions does not really fit and I don’t see Ant Anstead as an engineering genius. As for Lotus going the all electric route under their Chinese owners, I think people should watch Harry’s Garage episode on why he has sold his Lotus Emira and bought a McLaren.

Beautiful car cool guys but I wish someone would make a lightweight fun car for people that live in the real world. I'm sure it's possible. Get the apprentices to put it together it will be fine🫣
