I’ve got a boosted g8 so same thing as a 5th gen and I’m putting an lq9 engine into it. Did you use a 3rd gen oil pressure sensor or were you able to use the same sensor on the 4th gen stuff

I used the 4th gen valley cover to retain the 4th gen sensor but had to modify it. The 2nd gen is a 2 wire sensor where the 3rd gen is a 3 wire so it isn't possible to use the 2nd gen sensor.

@@cnautorepair3027I’m assuming that means you used a ls3 valley cover gotcha so the one that I have is the same just gotta cut the ears off the back side

@jonfarrell6391 it's almost as simple as that. If you compared the LS3 valley cover to the LQ9 you'll noise their seal surface/gasket area are different. The LS3 is basically a rectangle and the LQ9 had a curve on the rear. I had to braze aluminum to the LS3 cover and than cut I back down to create a sealing surface for the LQ9 gasket.

@jonfarrell6391 the 15 minute mark in the video is where you want to watch from. I can't remember if I explain it but you can see what I'm meaning. Also using the LS3 valley cover allows you to retain the breather port there.

Did you run into any issues while installing the accessories from the ls3 to the iron block ? I am trying to make this lq4 408 work in my 5th gen.
