Heck I don’t even watch tv anymore, I watch your videos. 😎
310 Pilot is the reason I cut my cable lol
TV is so one sided, sitcoms with their phony laughtracks, news commentators yelling at each other, cook food that takes hours and you scarf it down in 10 mins, overpaid spoiled sports players, and the same old boring commercials. Yeah cut the cable...
Randy Linn and fake news....
Jamie is seriously beautiful!
Ha ha... I wish we could fly around more and make more videos for you guys, :) Maybe one of these days. I guess most TV shows do a new episode about once a week so we aren't too far off.
I got my multi-engine rating in a Q model 310....a very long time ago. Since then, I spent 42 years flying professionally. I enjoy your videos as much for your adherence to checklists, and safety, as much as I do the content. Impressive for a GA type.
If I had known all these years that the sweet voice on Chicago approach was Jamie, I likely would have smiled a bit more....it’s a “guy thing” I guess. She is a cute mom and seems to be your best friend....fantastic!
I have always said, when asked, and now tell my young students in ATP/CTP class...if ever the “crap hits the fan” weather is “stinky” and you have a choice....be in ORD airspace because those controllers are the finest in the land. Keep up the good work
The ground controller sounds super excited to be at work! I'm anxious for the A/P reviews. Congratulations!
Noticed that myself! I'd swear she must have just woke up from a nap or something. . . ;)
she always sounds that way.
Ground controller, ATIS recorder, Local controller. All the same person.
I've heard her in a few of 310's videos, she is a true "no joy" controller.....
And she definitely needs some diction lessons. It really irritates me when I have to strain, and listen "with conviction" to understand a controller. (Darned if I'm going to complain and "the waiter or the boss spits in my soup...") Doesn't the FAA do evaluation and training on slurring and pronouncing?
Love to watch you fly with your Co-pilot (Radio Operator). Always find your videos informative and entertaining. With all the additions to the cockpit : auto pilot, cockpit lighting, panel updates, shoulder harnesses you are having installed, there will be no stopping you now! Oskosh & Sun N' Fun should be a definite on your list of places. Enjoyed your vacation in the Bahamas with all the small islands. All the best to both of you!
Thank you James...glad you're enjoying it all! We are really excited about the new upgrades and going to both the shows. Should make for some fun videos. :)
I know you probably get a ton of these types of comments, but I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy your videos. They’re very well put together, with great camera angles, and good perspective of what’s going on with your in flight commentary. Your channel, and P1D are probably my two favorite aviation channels. I hope someday that Greg and you can meet up and do a collaboration, it would be awesome to see you guys in each other’s planes! I’m not a pilot, but thanks to awesome channels like your guys’, I get a first hand look into what it’s like to be one! Keep up the great work!
You are really modifying your plane with some great upgrades which will help you fly safer and with a reduced workload. It is a labor of love and its obvious to your fans that you two love aviation. Thanks again for bringing us along.
Thank you Steve...glad you're thinking so as well. We are excited to share our passion of GA with others and equally excited to get her back from the autopilot upgrade so we can start showing that off/enjoying it as well. :)
Good job keeping the better half toasty. The 310 looked shiny pulling out of the hanger, sweet!!!
I noticed that too, what a little hotrod.
I try to do my best to keep her clean...and the other her happy (warm). :)
The autopilot will be great, been watching you hand fly her very diligently!
I'm not sure I've ever been so excited about an upgrade or something new as I am about this autopilot...revolutionary. :)
You two guys are Awesome. It just goes to show you that through HARD WORK and busting your butt in school, you can do and have anything out of life you want. I admire you Kevin and Jamie, your an inspiration to the hard working General Aviation lifers like myself and many many others. Keep flying safe, as I know you will because Kevin always seems to be ahead of his airplane.
Thank you for the nice comment Scott! We love sharing our passion of general aviation with others. Thank you for the nice words. :)
I haven't flown since 2004,...and got my private in '96....and I've pretty much been happy riding my Harley which I like to think of as an open cockpit bi-plane flown down in the weeds. But watching you two makes me nearly crazy to go fly again, and so I'm getting back in the saddle at age 60. Thanks for the inspiration! Much love to you guys, I had nearly given up hope of ever getting that solo bird's eye view again.
This is awesome...Congrats on getting back in the air and knocking the rust off...it'll come right back! The biggest change is flying with an iPad but the rest is still the same. :)
@@310Pilot Yeah, the iPad seems like a pretty big leap from my old battery powered Garmin 90! (That thing ate batteries so bad that it'd die 15 mins before a short x-c flight was over.) It seems like we are all living in the future now that we have these devices...and the past was quite a lot more difficult. I'm looking forward to this spring!
Former LumenAir pilot (977LA) now a Floridian. Your videos are fantastic. Music great. Hope to see you both at SNF.
Glad you're enjoying them Jeff! You moved the right direction. :) We'll be down there (probably getting in on Thursday). Say hi if you see us roaming around.
You are lucky to have this shared passion.
Very lucky indeed! :)
Nice to see your 310 getting all dressed out with the latest bells and whistles! Keep up the great video work.
Glad you're enjoying it Dell...we sure are! Super excited to get her back and start flying with the new STEC 3100! Really going to change the way we do business in a much safer/friendlier way! With all this time away from her we've been discussing what to do with our 20 year old GPS's and decided to visit with the manufactures down at Sun N Fun and decide what upgrades look to be the best for us...stay tuned! :)
Usually like to catch this on Fridays, but what a way to start a Saturday morning. watch the latest episode of The Jamie and Kevin show, then off to the range, perfect. Thanks for the ride guys!!
Glad you enjoyed it Alan!! How'd you shoot (providing that was the range you were talking about)?
Thanks for video... watched most of the previous videos... i live in Dallas. Been to stockyards many times. i used to work in IT for Southwest so i'm familar with both airports if you ever need a ride. Take care
You're welcome Tim...thank you for the offer!! I'll hit you up if we get stuck at them. :)
Cool video. I love the chatter. Enjoy little Texas! It’s so quaint!
Ha ha..glad you enjoyed it Stephen and we'll try not to blink and fly right over the state. :)
That controller sounds like she'd be great fun at a party!
Man, I am so addicted to these flights. Great job again on the first half. The plane hasn't been this warm since you left the Bahamas and your co pilot looks way happier. Good move, you know , that happy wife/life thing.........
Happy wife=happy life and I'm glad the heater happiness worked out in both our favors! Glad you're enjoying the flights Tom...stand by for part 2 as that was my favorite on the trip. :)
I'm totally enjoying the start of this video! Glad to see that you guys are nice and toasty! And I'm also glad to hear that you're going to come down to the Fun and Sun! All I need to know is what day you going to be there! I know it's a little ways out for you but as soon as you know post something and let us all know! LOL someone posted that they don't look at TV anymore! Well that's me and UA-cam but sometimes I look at UA-cam on TV. I thoroughly enjoy your Channel! Don't forget keep us posted on Fun and Sun.
Glad you enjoyed part 1! I liked part 2 the best. :) We aren't for sure yet on the dates and will try to update people here when we are but thinking it will be the last half of the event. I will let everyone know for sure when we know. Hope to see you down there...make sure to say hi!!
Great!!!!!!!!!!
Through my journey I have across two people I love so much without even knowing who they are. At my age (above 30's) I am a full time student who put everything into a dream to become something more. My past is not that pretty but today I stand corrected and instead of demanding others see my change I get to show it. The reason why I say this to you two is because the some of the inspiration I get comes from this channel and I just wanted to say Thank you Kevin and Jamie for the love and great settings you show. I hope and can only pray that next year I will have my PPL and also on my way to completing my bachelor in aviation. It would be a honor one day to fly with you or just have a cup of coffee on me. You two rock. Also if you see "Miranda" please tell her your fans love her music as well. Have a wonderful trip!
Thanks for the nice comment Tyrease! Good luck on finishing your degree and getting your PPL!! I'm sure it will be a wonderful journey for you with bumps at times but in the end when you look back on it all it will be very rewarding. :) If you end up at any of the airshows or see us around make sure to say hi. :)
Thank you. Yes I will say hi!
Sounds like you have a fun season planned. If you ever do make it west remember my suggestion... keep the Reno Air Races in mind. I know you would love the whole deal. Short drive up to Tahoe from the Reno area. If we can figure out how to connect my wife and I would love showing you around the lake for a day. It is a must see kinda place.
The sun finally made an appearance around here too. Lakes are coming up. Gonna be a good summer I think. Hope to finish one hot rod, sell another...then go find a C3 Corvette.
Arch, we for sure will make Reno at some point for the air races! Thank you for the offer...sounds fun. Good luck on your hot rods! :)
You guys are living my dream! Really appreciate you sharing this part of your lives. Keep on keep'n on!
Awesome..glad you're enjoying it Mark! :)
You would love the Ft. Worth Stockyards area...my late sister was a Ft. Worth City official and was on the Northside Development committee that helped create the Stockyards into a tourist spot back in the early 80's...my wife and I got married at the old Stockyards Hotel there...there's been a lot of growth in the Stockyards area in the last year or so...new restaurants and hotels🤠...my wife used to sing with her band there in the 90's....no, it's 2 Texas's in Alaska...maybe...I also lived in Alaska for 2 years in the mid-70's when I sat out of college in '75-'76 to work on the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline with my Dad...he was an original member of Local 798/pipeline welders out of Tulsa...they handled all of the VSM & mainline pipe welding on the project...I lived and worked out of Glennallen my 1st year....then on either side of the Brooks Range/Dietrich/Galbraith Lake and Atigun Pass my 2nd year...loved it🐻🐐❄🦅
Oooh mood lighting on the panel Put the baby on autopilot and let nature take its course... Memories of Oshkosh, awesome. Doing a great job, put me down for T-shirt
Thank you Wayne...glad you're enjoying it! Jaime got it all set up on the website yesterday under the store tab ( www.310pilot.net ) We just ordered some stuff from there to see how it turns out...fingers crossed!
Got sic all of a sudden and ended up here in the hospital. Watching your video always Keeps me going. Fly safe
Sorry to hear that Gary....hope you pull through quickly!! Glad our videos are giving you something to take your mind off things. :)
Hey Folks! I always look forward to flying with you. My father was ex air force instructor pilot 43-65, so I was born flying. Life steered me into an A&P AI which I traded for my pilots license early. I don't fly these days due to cost, but have done FS1 thru the newest of the P3D sims, just to keep my feel and love going. I look forward to every chance to fly with you, so please keep the vids coming. I will definitely order something from your new website also.Thank you both.
Glad you're enjoying the channel Ray!! That was an awesome time for your dad to be an instructor pilot...from the Mustang days to the jet age. I hope to get my A&P one of these days...probably after retirement. We'll keep making the videos as long as ya'll are enjoying them. :)
Thanks for another fun video, and congratulations on all your airplane upgrades. I'm with Jaimie, regarding Alaska... (I live in Anchorage.) It's truly "vast" here, and with amazing terrain. Take care, you two!
Glad you enjoyed it Mike! We are excited to get her back and start fun flying with the new autopilot and continue our modernize the 70's plane project. :) We go to Anchorage every other year or so (so she can visit as I explore) and then branch out from there. Love that state. :)
I hope you'll consider contacting me before you come up next time. (You can email me via my web site at mikejamesmedia.com ) I'd love to meet you both, take some photos of your airplane, and just hang out briefly.
Glad you’re getting that auto pilot. You are so right about single pilot IFR. As much as I liked hand flying it was my instructor that had to remind me as we returned from my check ride: “Mike, don’t forget about the auto pilot. You’ve had a long day, a bit tired, in and out of IMC- and there’s no good reason not to let it fly the approach. You’ve hand flown enough approaches today!” Funny thing is, I hadn’t even considered it!
I agree! It will be way safer/better for me to let the autopilot fly the approach while I monitor it. Especially considering how the STEC 3100 operates...Chuck Yeager can't outfly that thing. :) While I don't have a lot of time to guys that fly for a living, I have over 1500 hours of general aviation flying and almost none of it has been with an autopilot. I'm due!! :)
Ok, this is how I made full use of today's technology with this video. I put on closed caption (UA-cam) so I could fully understand information Sierra on the ATIS. Then I changed the video settings from 720 to 1080 to see Jamie, I mean the outside scenery clearer. Then I paused the video at 14:09 to see the outside scenery through the back window clearer. I also screen shotted the same frame at 14:09 and made it my desktop wallpaper. Kevin... you da man!
Been traveling in Texas visiting family. Was in mid to upper 70's while we were there. Sorry you caught the cold weather. Enjoyed your video and having Jaime along for the flight. Fly Safe
Glad you enjoyed it Dave! Hope you had a nice trip with the family. I'm excited to feel 70's again...it's been since the Bahamas for me. :)
Very nice. have fun with the autopilot. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it BobMan...I can't wait to start flying with the new autopilot!!!
@@310Pilot I cannot imagine flying without an autopilot now. Too much work!! Just remember that when it fails you need to be able to fly manually in IMC. IFR proficiency is very important. No complacency. Good luck and happy landings.
Another good video Kevin, and its great to have Jaime back in the co-pilot seat.. all toasty warm.. keep them comin'..
Glad you enjoyed it Donald...all flights feel better with my life co-pilot!
Small world, went to college in Chicago and then moved to Dallas. Thanks for another video guys. Excited to hear about the changes, hooray for should harnesses!
Small world indeed...especially in aviation. Glad you enjoyed it David! We are excited for all the new improvements. :)
You guys are a good looking couple. Fun to watch. Fly safe!
Thank you...glad you think so. :)
What a beautiful day for flying. Love the videos and the ongoing insight, great stuff. I have matching 42" monitors on my desk and full screen you guys on the right one when I have a lot of analytical work to do on the other. Keep them coming and God Bless.
Glad you're enjoying them Joseph!! Happy to help the boredom when you have your analytic's going on the other screen. :)
Yeah you got that right about the Mason Dixon Line. I can’t wait for part two for you to welcome her back to the South. I’ll be at Sun & Fun Monday-Thursday hopefully we’ll get a chance to meet. Keep’em coming!
Hopefully we will get a chance to meet down there. We may just be in passing on Thursday as we are planning the last half of the event.
310 Pilot Change of plans. We’re having to fly out on Thursday instead of Friday now. Maybe another time.
I was in AK in '87 - beautiful place! But, TX is warmer, so it wins. Actually, anywhere outside of the Northeast here wins ... 😂
That panel is going to be sweet when it's done. Going to make things much easier for you, I bet. I remember the first vehicle I bought that had a working cruise control (and A/C!!), LOL - what a luxury that was! I drove all the way across the country with no cruise in my '72 El Camino. I was much younger then, so I don't recall my foot aching. 😁
Glad the heat is cranking for you guys - bet Jamie is super happy! Great stuff - will be watching for Part 2 when I get a minute here! 👍👍
Jaime is loving the heat...I'm really glad to have that behind us! We are excited to get the new autopilot and panel completed...can't wait for the call back saying she's ready! :) One of these day's I'd like to get a late 60's/early 70's muscle car.
@@310Pilot - Nice man! Gonna be great!
Yeah, I should've never sold the El Camino - that's my biggest regret. Loved that car. Mice got into it one winter, and I hadn't been driving it & money was tight, so I made a rash, quick decision. Now I can't buy that car for double what I sold it for. :( We still have an '86 Grand Marquis & a '93 Volvo 940 - neither is fast by any stretch, but they're both extremely comfortable (especially the Merc.) and reliable. Ice cold R12 air conditioning in both, too. :)
Another fun video guys, thanks. Looking forward to the upgrades and to hear more about the merchandise. Also my teenage niece watched this video for the first time and she is now a fan a Jaime lol.
Glad you're enjoying it David and your niece as well!! We are excited to get the call soon saying she's ready so we can continue exploring the country with a nice new autopilot! We just put out our first attempt at merchandise on www.310pilot.net I just ordered some of the stuff to see how it turns out...fingers crossed. Designed by Jaime. :)
@@310Pilot thanks for the link. I'm looking forward to checking it out and also looking forward to seeing how the new autopilot turns out as well.
Wonderful vid, thanks! Nice to have some HEAT, yea? Yea!!!! Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to some AUTOGRAPHED mech!!!
Glad you liked it Don! Jaime is working on the Merch as we speak! If you ever go to any of the airshows, she will be happy to autograph...if not, I"m sure we can work something out. :)
@@310Pilot Used to go to Airventure every year I lived in the Milwaukee area. Miss the airshows a lot now that we are back home in Montana. May have to have you both scribe some merch and send it on...
You will definitely enjoy the STEC 3100. I had it installed in my 66 V tail. The folks at STEC are really good to work with as well.
Awesome that you're enjoying the 3100! I can't wait for the call saying she's ready to be picked up!! :) Thanks for the PIREP.
To be continued.... Looking forward to the next video!
Awesome Tim...I think the next one is my favorite of the two. :)
Appreciate your videos and the time you take to make them so that we can ride along.
Awesome....thank you Richard!!
If you're at Love there is a great Flight museum by the FBOs on the eastern side of the Field..
Thanks for the heads up on that Mark...we will keep it in mind for future trips down there. :)
I knew that auto pilot would be coming! I love watching you hand fly VFR and IFR, definitely a proficient pilot. I hope you get some relief with the auto pilot. Glad you and Jamie are warm! Can't wait for some warm weather videos though, or when you come to Napa like I recommended...Okay I'll stop saying it. Haha! Thanks Kevin and Jamie!
We are super excited to be getting the come get her call any day now Terry!! While I will continue to stay hand flying proficient...I'm going to love the added safety and utility from having the STEC 3100! I'm ready for summer as well...cold weather is for the polar bears. We are for sure going to make a west coast swing...just not sure exactly when yet. :)
Thank goodness you are getting shoulder harnesses. I can finally stop watching the videos through my fingers. :) Oh man are you going to love that autopilot. Fly safe!!
Thank you Doug! We are excited to get them installed as well. Can't wait to have an amazing fully functional autopilot that will handle all phases of flight. :)
Thank you Kevin plus watch out for those Texas Longhorns
Ha ha...when I was a little boy my parents told me I called them Texas Lawnmowers. Kind of fitting when they are out to pasture. :)
Thank you for the flight to Texas have fun in Dallas
Glad you enjoyed it Dean! We were only there for the day and flew back that afternoon. Looking forward to getting the call that it's ready for pickup to start flying with the new autopilot! :)
You guy"s should do an Alaska flight this summer,,,,,
We for sure will do an Alaska trip...may have to be next summer as this one is pretty much all spoken for. I can't wait! :)
Wow, a lot of cool updates happening to your bird! Exciting! Just ordered a t-shirt. Hopefully, see you guys around one of these days.
I'm excited too...can't wait to get back in her. Hope the shirt turns out okay. The shop is our first attempt...we ordered a bunch of stuff off both different shops we created (they have slightly different stuff, both on the website) so we can check out the quality. See you around soon hopefully. :)
Beautiful plane, people, flight, and video! Thank you!
Thank you Donald...glad you thought so! :)
Another great vid. Hard8 in Stephenville and Coopers in Llano are two wonderful barbeque places. The Stockyards in FW are cool but can be very congested with tourist. Cold weather is rare, we will turn the heat on for your next visit. Keep up the good work!
Glad you enjoyed it David!! Thanks for the local heads up on things down there. The heat being turned up for our pickup trip when she's done will be much appreciated!! :)
I have flying pants & socks too for cross country trips! We have a 320, love following your videos!
Glad you're enjoying them Pat! 320's are nice birds that don't get mentioned very often. That's funny you have pants and socks as well. I have flying house shoes that I use. :)
@@310Pilot I've been trying to talk my husband (the pilot) into shoulder harnesses so I'm excited to see you get them installed. I'm jealous you have boots, icing makes me really nervous. We are from Michigan so not much flying in the winter.
One more thing: you need to fly to Mackinac Island for a family trip!
Looking forward to some merch. It will pair nicely with my Premier 1 Driver and Corporate Pilot Life merch. Keep the great content coming. Keeps me into aviation since I am not flying anymore.
beckerm13 Merch is available at www.310pilot.net
Glad you're enjoying the channel and we will keep them coming as long as ya'll are interested. :) We have already decided to look to a different platform in the near future to expand the merchandise but the link James gave is good and will remain good if we switch the platform. I just ordered several things from there to see how it all turns out. Fingers crossed. :)
Glad to see you guys are headed to install the new A/P. I've been wondering when the merchandise thing would come up, will definitely be on that list to show off down here in Cajun Country. That panel once complete will be state of the art, that's for sure. Its evident that 771BC will be part of the family for awhile. Great video as always and keep 'them coming!
Glad you enjoyed it Randall! We are excited to get her back and start showing off/learning the new autopilot. We may look to update the GPS's at Sun N Fun as well so yeah, I'd say she's going to be a long term family member. :) We just set up our initial merchandise so hope it turns out okay. I just ordered some stuff to check it out being the first time and all. It's off the website if you want to see it....any suggestions are appreciated. :) www.310pilot.net
Great video Kevin! I always enjoy watching your videos and your guys adventures. My wife and I enjoy trips to Texas. What a great state. We hope to travel to Alaska one day as well. Thanks for sharing! Safe travels!
Glad you enjoyed it Todd! While we haven't spent a great deal of time in Tx, I think we would both enjoy doing so. We enjoy warm weather and slower paces (not that the DFW metro area has any of that). :) I'm sure you won't be disappointed when ya'll make it up to Alaska...it's beautiful.
Thanks for the reply Kevin! Hope you found some good BBQ in the DFW metro area!
Hey from New Jersey! I love watching you guys fly together! Flying my Cherokee 235 I love my Stec 30 Auto Pilot and adding a G5 soon to replace my HSI! Come out to NJ some time!
Howdy Dave...glad you're enjoying the videos! I'm sure you will enjoy the G5 and by already having an STEC, their upgrade path to the 3100 is a sweet deal when/if you're ever ready for it. We plan to make it out there one of these days. :)
Look into the flight stream 210! It’s awesome!
I will look into that Dave. Right now I'm actually very intrigued by the Avidyne IFD's and plan to check them out at Sun n Fun and they would completely negate the FS210 as they will allow the transfers with ForeFlight and do a lot of other neat things via bluetooth connectivity. Stay tuned for operation upgrade the 20 year old GPS's. :)
Great part 1, Neat front gate to old Fort Wolters and there is a 3/4 Viet Nam Wall on the east side of Mineral Wells. You and the wife would have loved the Stock Yards. Like your 310 and looks like your making some great up grades. Will be watching.
Glad you enjoyed it Ronald! Unfortunately we missed the Vietnam Wall. Hopefully we will have more time when we go to pick it up to check things out. :)
Great flight Kevin,my home town is right down the road from Mineral Wells, I was born in Weatherford,Texas (old man was in the Army and stationed there when I was born).Enjoy Texas and your plane upgrades,y'all be safe. Go Dawgs -Jerry
Glad you enjoyed it Jerry! I had heard it used to be a military base at one point. Nice area of the country. :)
"Let there be warmth. And it was warm. And the warmth was good" :)
Saturday morning for me now is Bagel ,Coffee and 310 Pilot before I do anything. Thanks guys for the effort you go to for producing these videos it is very much appreciated. Looking forward to T-Shirts (Maybe caps too ?) cheers from Aussie.
Glad to give you something to wake up to over on the opposite side of the world Paul! We'll try for both T-shirts and caps and probably hoodies also...hoodies are those things people have to wear when it's not always nice and warm out. :)
@@310Pilot We have a way to go yet for hoodies , still hot and wet here in Brisbane :)
My father and uncle both where aircraft mechanics in ww2, really machinists actually, i have about 400hrs of flight time on the microsoft flight ten, i enjoy the flying part but the FAA would ruin the the whole process for me just to much radio talk for me to really enjoy flying. I like to fly the lear jets the most of all, but way to expensive for the average person to own plus the up keep and all. You are a very well trained pilot i can tell just by the way you follow your flight plans. Keep up the very high standards you have set for yourself and you and your family stay safe out there in the wild blue yonder.
Great new shades for J and I look forward to saying hello at OSH!,
Awesome...hope to see you there! :)
I was in Primary Flight School in Mineral Wells, TX ( Fort Wolters ) in 1968!
Very cool Rich...I had heard they did some military training there in the past. :)
Mr. Ziemba, I good friend of mine was an instructor at Ft Wolters 1968, WO L.J.Talley.
@@310Pilot Practically every US Army Huey pilot in Vietnam went thru the Army's 5-month primary heliicopter flight training there at Ft. Wolters. I was one of them. BTW, before flight school I went thru the Air Force ATC school at Keesler AFB. This was before the Army started it's own ATC school at Ft. Rucker, AL. When I got back from Vietnam I wanted to be a Huey gunship IP but the Army was just starting (SEP '69) its own ATC school. Guess who got assigned the Tower Branch curriculum committee? Yep.
Great video guys!! Nice to see the new EX alive. Look forward to the new 4 axis, I think, auto pilot. Watch out for those Southwest bus drivers, they're crazy. I am part of the team in Denver
Glad you enjoyed it Wayne!! I can't wait to get the new autopilot up and running!! Yes, it has the built in yaw damper and most all the functions of the autopilots on your birds...maybe even more. :) Do you fly into MDW very often? If so, we probably have talked to you a few times.
Great about merchandise. Also, just FYI Jaime, I was in Anchorage in 1959 when Alaska became a state on my birthday January 3. I have been back to Alaska several times since then working for TSA (King Salmon, Barrow, Fairbanks, Anchorage, Nome). Guess where I live now? Yep, San Antonio, TX and I love it here.
Wow Michael...you've worked all over that state. I have been there a few times with her and we've been to several places for many days and still haven't scratched the surface of that place. One of these days we will make it down to San Antonio...the only time I was there was basic training. :)
Yes. I recall you saying that. Please do try and make it sometime. I work at the airport as a training instructor with TSA. Alaska is beautiful and I do love the state, but I hate the cold. I couldn't live there LOL. The heat in Texas could be argued as just as bad at the opposite end I suppose. Also, Alaska is big, but it is difficult to see the state due to its terrain. Texas is easier LOL. Thanks again for your fine video's and all your experiences. I envy you, but at least I can come along and dream. Semper Fi!
Spent a lot of time editing my sons wedding video (but not for UA-cam) but gave myself the treat of watching you guys before I went to sleep. As you know, I always enjoy your stuff. Thought it apt that Jaime should say holy smoke about it being hot. The Aurora controller seemed to have her mind elsewhere? New upgrade is very exciting. Can you get Jaime to close up film new displays (or hand fly while you do as she has shown she can do that now!)
Hope your son's wedding turned out great for the family! Glad you're still with us here. :) We are very impatiently waiting the autopilot to be done so we can pick her up and start flying around with it! I picked up another camera and some mounts to get better shots of the panel with the new equipment. Hopefully it all turns out okay. :)
Merch is a great idea! we have an off road group with side by sides, nothing cooler than coming down a desert trail and seeing people wearing your logo!
That's awesome that you get to see that! I'm sure it's the same feeling we will feel if we ever bump into anyone wearing 310 Pilot gear. :)
Always look forward to your vides and with Jamie all the better lol. she has a smile that Melts butter. Also us folks from the south don't all play banjo's ha ha. (Course I do ) lol.
Thank you Hoss...glad you're enjoying them! Oh she's familiar with souther folks...after all, she married a back woods Georgia boy. :) I just wish I knew how to play a banjo. :)
I really enjoy all your videos and look forward to each new one!
Awesome...thank you Craig!!
At about 12:30’ish, did she really look in the back and say she didn’t have a place to pee? LoL !! Just found your channel and binge watching in order so I can catch up. Just getting to the Texas flight.
Wow. Mineral Wells TX ? I live 15 miles east of there. Small world.
Small world indeed...especially in aviation. :) Looks like a nice area to me!
Love watching your videos!! Thanks for sharing! Roll Tide!!!
Glad you're enjoying them John! Go Dawgs!! Ya'll can't crush our dreams 3 years in a row...right.
Another excellent video, Kevin. I always look forward to watching them and I'm anxious to see the new panel.
I have to agree with the others regarding the controller out of Aurora ... she sounds like she just woke up.
Jamie, I was born and raised in Minnesota and have only been to Alaska once in my life, and that was in 69' when my flight to Vietnam stopped for fuel in Anchorage before crossing the Pacific.
I moved to Texas in 02' (Houston area) and have no plans to ever move back north of the Mason / Dixon Line. Maybe Texans should say everything is bigger in Texas ... in the lower 48.
Have a good one guys and, again, I'm looking forward to the flight home with the new panel.
Glad you enjoyed it Patrick! I'm looking forward to getting her back and exploring the country with an awesome new autopilot. I've never been to Minnesota but do have an offer to visit another pilot friends cabin up there. Maybe one of these days we will make it back down south to live again. :)
Great job as always
Thank you Johnny! :)
I don't understand any of the commo jargon going on the radio, but it always fascinated me how fast it all sounds.
It's like so many other things in life. It is not rocket science. It's real easy. Once you do it enough. Plus, in flying, you are especially motivated to do it well :-)
Glad you're enjoying it even though the lingo is still foreign. :) As mentioned, it comes easy with a bit of exposure/training to it. :)
Merch! Yes Please! Can't Wait!
Awesome...Jaime is working on it as we speak. :)
Happy to hear from you!
I'm in Dallas. Alaska is freaking huge. It's like Texas' bigger, BABY brother... :-D Best deal any president ever made!
Ha ha...the Alaska Purchase was a great deal...that is one Russia wish they could have back. :)
What a nice day above the clouds and accross the heavens. Have a great time in Texas....hello to fellow Federal employee Jaime. DHS/TSA here.
Glad you enjoyed it Gary!! It was a nice but short stay in Texas...we are looking forward to heading back soon. :)
I'm excited for you! Can't wait to see how the 3100 works out.
Me too...waiting impatiently for the phone call to go pick her up! I'll make sure to make lot's of videos of the 3100 in action and hopefully they have your plane added by the time you need to upgrade your autopilot. :) We decided it was time to upgrade our 20 year old GPS's (what you do when you think about flying but can't fly I suppose) so we decided to head down to Sun n Fun and compare what he manufactures have for upgrades and make a decision how to go.
@@310Pilot I upgraded my 430W to an Avidyne IFD440, really happy with my choice. You'd love either the new Garmin or Avidyne!
Good as always, hi Jamie nice to see you back look forward to seeing the upgrades cheers guys
Glad you enjoyed it Paul! :)
Boy, Kevin, you got a lot of stuff going on with all the instrument changes. All sounds good.
Looking forward to seeing what Jaime comes up with for merch. Won't be at Sun and Fun but planning to get to Oshkosh, hopefully flying in from KDBQ. Thanks for the videos, as always.
You're welcome Bob! Hope to see you at OSH if we are there at the same time. Jaime got the first attempt at Merch up at the shop on our site, www.310pilot.net
We just order some of the things so hopefully it turns out well. We are already looking to move things over to another site to be able to expand a bit. Let us know if you have any improvement suggestions.
Welcome to Texas!
Glad to have made it there...was a nice flight and the people were all great! Can't wait to get the call to head back down there to pick her back up. :)
Not sure when you flew down, but hopefully your 310 was safe from the High winds that blew through on Wednesday morning in North Texas.
Another great flight. For a quick and easy way to design and bring up a web site with little learning is to use something like Square Space. It is really all just drag and drop. You will even be able to open a store for your channel gear. I would also suggest to set up a Pay Pal account so that you can accept any type of payments with very low loss. Hope the information helps. Fly Safe.
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the suggestions! We just put some stuff on the website that I used wix to design...It's our first for the gear and site so if you have any suggestions we are all ears. :) Its: www.310pilot.net
Hopefully we’ll see you at KOSH. We’ll be there Sunday-Thurs
I don't have our exact dates but I'm guessing it should line up at least one of them. Make sure to swing by and say hi if you see us roaming around. :)
@@310Pilot Cool Kevin. I think it would be cool to setup an "open discussion" forum at Oshkosh. You guys are in a unique situation being controllers, aircraft owners, and youTube vloggers. Your story is interesting. Someone needs to set up a 2-hour forum with Stevo1Kinevo, Premiere1 Driver, you guys, and Matt Guthmiller. I think Baron Pilot will be there too this year. That would be so cool. I would be more than happy to coordinate this. I can assure you, this would be a highly attended forum.
Yup. Those Johnnie-come-latelies do have some real estate up in the frozen north all right. Thing is, most of our Texas land is horizontal, not vertical. And we use planes 'cause it's so darned far to drive, not because you can't drive there. Ya know your flight down from Aurora was about the same distance as Houston, Texas to El Paso, Texas. Y'all. ;-)
Ha ha...love the ARR to MWL being about the same as IAH to El Paso. :) I have driven across that state once from east to west and man was that the longest drive ever. :)
Keep the Mrs around. Without her, your views will drop drastically. Great channel and thanks to both of you.
Ha ha...I'm going to work hard to keep the Mrs around and it has absolutely zero to do with youtube views. :)
I need smaller engines LOL! Yesterday from Marathon FL to MLB at 5500’ 210 mph burning 18.4 gph each side. I guess I am paying the price for a 10,500’ SE service ceiling. The IO-550 300 hp is great......until you talk about 12.1 gph. Great video. You are helping my vision of how I will spend my money.
Shoot...you have the Ferrari of the 310's! Down low though I hear you about the fuel burn. :) I'll do a video showing when I go LOP and burn them each in the 9-10 range. I don't do it often because of the speed loss...who buys a 310 to go slow?? Especially not a 600 HP one like you! Glad to help you decide how to spend your money. :) With this down time for the STEC 3100 install we decided it was a good time to upgrade our 20 year old GPS's and audio panel. We are going to stop by the manufacturers at Sun n Fun and see what they have to offer and upgrade those right after the airshow hopefully. Stay tuned for more money spending idea. :)
310 Pilot might run into you Sunday if you are still around. I get home Saturday and depending on how late will decide if I am driving over Sunday morning.
Awesome!! Love the new Avidyne ! My bird is still in the avionics shop, new panels are being powercoated and placards!
Jamie is a hoot! Flying socks?
Congrats on getting your new panels and plane back soon Bob! I'm excited to get the call saying she's ready so we can start having fun with the STEC 3100! With all this downtime we've been discussing what to do about our 20 year old GPS's and older audio panel. We decided to check out the manufactures at Sun N Fun and make a decision about how to upgrade those there. Stay tuned to see what we end up with....project modernize this 70's bird! :)
Another great flight, can't wait to see the next part! Jaime was loving the heat ;) great to see her back :) sounds like you have some exciting plans ahead, can't wait to see your panel when its all done :)
Glad you enjoyed it Rab! We are loving the heat and looking forward to getting her back! The next part of the flight was better than this one in my opinion...you'll have to let me know. :)
Definitely a T shirt! Another great video.
Glad you enjoyed it Rodger! We just set it up yesterday and I ordered a few to see how they turn out...fingers crossed. If you want to check it out, you can access it from www.310pilot.net
Let me know if you have any thoughts for improvement/different ideas. :)
@@310Pilot Are you going to have the new design in men's classic tee? I have always heard that air traffic controllers had the most stressful jobs of anyone, glad you guys get to take time to relax and enjoy yourselves every now and then. My next commercial flight is coming up soon (Florida to DC) and it's comforting to know that folks like you and Jaime are out there looking out for us! I really enjoy listening to you guys communicate with the other controllers.
Kevin, Great job on the video once again. Sounds like you are making some sweet upgrades. Be nice to see everything in action once it is done. I am trying to decide to upgrade the plane I have or go to something different in the future. That will be a year or two out due to cash flow. I am traveling to Jamie's home state this summer to get married so plane upgrades have to wait... Big state comes with a big cost. Lol. Glad to see everyone is now comfortable on the cold days. Have a great weekend.
Glad you enjoyed the video Mark! Congrat's on your upcoming wedding!! A summer Alaska wedding will be nice. We decided to upgrade our 20 year old GPS's in addition to the awesome autopilot upgrade and will visiting the different manufactures at Sun n Fun to make a decision. We will capture our shopping/decision/upgrades for people like you considering doing the same. Hope it's helpful for you when you decide to pull the trigger on your own upgrades. :)
Hi Kevin and Jamie, firstly I will definitely not get involved with Jamie's comment about the size of Texas and Alaska, as the UK would probably fit into Texas 4 times over, so I can't speak on that ! Thanks for another great video, your heater seems to have changed your lives, just a thought but maybe you could start growing some plants in the back with such temperatures, legal ones of course ! haha !. I have taken a screen shot of your current panel, so that I can compare it with what's being done with the new automatic pilot etc. hope you don't mind. - Please keep doing what you're doing - love it !
Howdy Barry...glad you enjoyed the video! Nothing against the size of the UK but it's amazing that in past world history a country of that size could colonize as much of the world as ya'll had at one point. The heater is amazing...flying while freezing is no fun. It should be fun for you to compare the panel prior to what we will end up with my the end of April. Looking to upgrade the 20 year old GPS's as well after Sun n Fun. :)
@@310Pilot It's probably 'small country syndrome' and despite the US kicking us out of your country, back in the day, the Commonwealth today still consists of 53 nations housing 2.4 billion people, so we must have done something right ! haha ! thanks again and looking forward to the next video.
*car, plane, girl: I must be in his place! ;)*
That first air traffic controller sounded like she hadn't had her morning coffee yet!
Waiting for part II - - - Wanting to see Your Texas arrival . . . .>>>
Sweet....part 2 was my favorite of the two. :)
Well you will have to go to Alaska but might need to switch airplanes to do it up right. The 310 will help you cover some long distance . Alaska has so many great things to see. We are making our third trip soon
Hope ya'll have a nice trip up there! We make it up there every other year or so...beautiful. One of these days we are going to do a 310 Pilot flies to Alaska trip. :)
Love the 310. I have a Cardinal I just updated an Avidyne IFD-540, with the TruTrak Vision autopilot, fuel flow. I can tell you that’s you will love the autopilot. I have pictures on the Avidyne group on faccbook of my install.
Sounds like you have a really nice Cardinal! We can't wait to start flying her with the new autopilot....one more week. :) I'm going to look at Avidyne for upgrading my 20 year old GPS's at Sun n Fun.
“When you cross the Mason-Dixon Line you automatically feel better.” This is true. Go Dawgs!
:) Go Dawgs!
Enjoyed! Is Jaime trying to eat her mic at 1:10?! ;) I was wondering if you were going to be called out on squawking 5164. It happens. As a former Alaskan, we had a saying in Alaska, if Texas doesn't stop bragging about how big it is, we will break in two, and Texas can be the 3rd largest state in the union.
Glad you enjoyed it! I'm usually pretty good about catching the previous code in there but it got me this time. :) Ha ha...I'm sure the Tx people love that saying. :)
@@310Pilot We have checking the transponder code on our club plane's checklists!
Did Jamie change her top? That's efficiency, two of the same color.
